To Yamaka, you have your facts wrong. He doesn't want to use Gold as the standard, but competing currencies. As for the Federal Reserve, we don't need it, and monetary policy would fall back on Congress like it did before 1913, which is what the constitution mandates anyways. Plenty of details are available on his positions at his website, and in interviews that last more than 30 seconds.

The world would be a better place if RON PAUL were President

    • Posted By: Yamaka @ 01/17/2008 12:51:53 PM

Problem with Ron Paul is he wants to get rid of IRS and the Federal Reserve. He does NOT give details about how he would live w/o a Federal Reserve. When no country now is using Gold as the backing for the monetary policy, he wants us to go back to the gold-based money supply. How is this possible? He comes across as a nutty old doctor who does not know how to cure an ailing patient. He has no chance.

Hillary is the most logical choice for Nevada voters. She has a better plan for the mortgage crisis. She also has better union credentials than Obama. Obama may have gotten the endorsement, but Clinton has the better union track record. She also has a better economic stimulus package.

Hilary has no experience other than being a lawyer. All of her jobs have come about from her husband getting her the jobs. She spent 8 years in the White House watching her husband have fun destroying the country and enjoying himself with any pretty (or not) girl that walked into his office.

Enough of the personal attacks already! The only way to find out how a candidate would really perform is to go to their websites and read their own words about the issues. Then, go to this website: http://www3.capwiz.com/c-span/dbq/officials/ and check out their voting records, and see if they agree with the platform. You can get mired in comments by journalists and bloggers, or you can be an informed voter. My vote is for Ron Paul, but don't take my word for it--find out for yourself.

I can't believe that the great votersof Nevada are going to let Slick Willy and Hillary take away the caucus rights of the culinary workers !!
It sounds like George Bush and Carl Rove all over again, send Slick Willy and venomous Hillary back to Arkansas to spread their poison !!!!

Nevada should look at Obama very carefully: he is NOT candid and forthcoming about his early life as a Muslim living in Indonesia with his Muslim stepfather Lolo. His name Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim name given by his Muslim father who abandoned him at his age 2. He has skinny experience in politics and policies. He is not electable. A vote for Hillary who is a Centrist will be good for Democrats to win the WH>

Hillary did have a life before she married Bill. If you would do research instead of spewing the talking points of Obama you would know that Hillary worked for the Children's Defense Fund right out of college and she was also an activist for women's and children's rights while in college. She is the most experienced no matter how much you would like not to believe it.

I know a woman who was being severely stalked in a New England state. The local, state and federal authorities would not do anything to help. The woman had been stalked since her youngest child was 2 years old. As this stalking persisted, the woman was turning into a basket case as she and her children were not safe, even in their own home. They moved several times because of it, had alarm systems, did all the right things to protect themselves. And, after years of no help, of law enforcement not doing anything ( the stalker apparently knew that if you take items below a certain value, the police will do NOTHING), this woman turned to Mrs. Clinton - begged for her help...Mrs. Clinton basically said 'sorry, I can't help you - you aren't my constituent.' So much for being an activist for women's and childrens' rights.

Hillary's plan for the mortgage crisis is an example of truly telling people what they what to hear and giving people "false hope". She beleives people will believe whatever lies she tells them, and unfortunately many people do. What a pity! We need someone with integrity and authencity that person is NOT Hillary. Check her record and her lies about 35 years of experience, she is going into her 8th year in the Senate which is the only elected office she has ever held. I guess she is counting being in law school and the little committees she has served on. Lead our country? I don't think so, she will be lucky if she manages to keep out of jail with the lawsuit for campaign fraud for her 2000 senate race which is filed against her. Check it out!

Edwards is talking about his personal fight against the lobbyists, money and power brokers in Washington, while he has employed many of the former lobbyists as his campaign managers. Obama has skinny experience in politics and policy making, and has a funny muslin name Barack Hussein Obama, which is a known Muslim name. These two just talk of CHANGES; but, talk is cheap. We NEED ACTION as Hillary is talking about. Hillary has a good chance of moving to WH.

  • Posted By: ObamaOhio08 @ 01/17/2008 8:20:08 AM

I think it's important to remind voters that Bill is NOT running for President, and that Hillary is

NOT Bill. Whether he's the one writing her policy initiatives doesn't detract from the fact that a Hillary White House will be very different from Bill's White House. I became disillusioned with Hillary because her vote for the war was a political tactic to appeal to more conservative voters during the general election. At the time of her vote, most of congress blindly followed Bush into his war based on lies. How would it have looked if Hillary had voted against it at the time? Since then Hillary has voted more hawkishly than most other dems in Congress, and that scares me. Is she just Bush in a dress? How do we know? Does she have real convictions or does she take a stand on issues motivated by what will make her more popular?

Because I cannot answer those questions, I do NOT trust her! She's Slick Hillary without the charisma of Bill and without Bill's genuine care for the American citizenry. A vote for Hillary is a vote for continuing contention between conservatives and liberals, Republicans and Democrats. It's a risk because we don't know who we're voting for--Bill? Politically motivated HIllary? BILLARY???

Barack Obama has been straightforward and honest. His white house will be as transparent as Bill's without Bill's moral baggage. I was really impressed when he said that he would sit down with doctors, nurses, consumer advocacy groups and even the drug and pharmaceutical companies (although they would not "own every chair") and discuss changing the health care system ON C-SPAN. If that isn't honest transparency, if that isn't saying to the American people, "Look, we're here in front of you. You can see and hear everything that's said and discussed, and we are each held accountable by you for our words and actions," then I don't what is. That's as transparent as any president can get.

Obama should challenge Hillary to do the same thing. I'll bet she'd say something Bushian like, "Some things can't be discussed in public." Bull. Like I said, Bush in a dress.

    VOTE OBAMA '08!

    • Posted By: Yamaka @ 01/17/2008 12:19:42 PM

Dear Democrats: Edwards and Obama are very liberal candidates representing the Left leanings of your Party. These two will not get the support of enough of Independents who make up 40% of the voting population, who favor a moderate, centrist candidate. I believe Hillary is a Centrist comparing to the other two. Hillary has good chance to move into WH because Ob and Ed are unelectable against the Reps.

People need to stop voting on "Emotions" where Hillary Clinton is concerned. Shes attracting the "safe" small minded voters.People are seeing the friendly familiar face. As far as OBAMA is concerned.. NO WAY... No way will we ever elect a Muslim President into the white house, and if we did, Id give up my citizenship and move to England.
Nevada needs to support RON PAUL, He is the ONLY candidate with any integrity and doesnt give the run around BULL most politicians have for decades. Im no republican, Trust me... But RON PAUL knows what he is doing, and he could fix this country, he just needs the chance to

It doesn't make since blkgrl for Obama to initiate a lawsuit. He has the endorsement!!! On the other hand Hillary doesn't want the unions to have their at large precincts as Bill Clinton says. It takes votes away from her which translates into delegates. The way it's set up the union members have the opportunity to really have a say in who will be the nominee. This was one of the reasons the DNC wanted Nevada to have an early caucus because of the State's diversity. This is all about restricting who gets to participate. Understand that this plan was approved by the State Democratic Party and leadership, DNC, each presidential candidate. Also, please note that four of the five plaintiffs were on the committee establishing the at large precincts. Of course this was all done when Hillary had double digit leads in Nevada and everyone assumed she would run away with the nominee. My mother told me where there's smoke there's fire...If it smells like shi*, it probably is. Well, it's smoking pretty bad and someone needs to flush the toilet.

How do we know that the Clintons provolked this Lawsuit.
Does'nt Edwards/Obama have a huge stake at this?Who's to say, that the Ex Clintonite HATERS working for Obama/Edwards are not behind these nasty attacks.Hmmmm

The Latino vote is the x factor. Latino's trust Hillary. There's that likeability factor. I think Hillary is on the right side of the race card. Remember the majority is not the minority yet, so you have to play the numbers. Obama should not fall into the race trap, he ne,eds to concentrate on solidifying the ACLU vote and get Kennedy and Gore on board.

  • Posted By: eswatson @ 01/16/2008 9:55:28 PM

Why can't Clinton behave like a dignified elder statesman? I can't believe that I used to like him and actually believed that right wing conspiracy crap. Everyone who wants to vote in Nevada should be able to vote. I thought we were fighting for that in Iraq.

I would like for Obama to tell the American people why he will not wear an American Flag on his lapel or will not RECITE the Pledge of Allegiance. Why he would not take the Oath og office wis his hand on the Bible instead of the Islamic Koran. How can he pretend that he will defend this country when he beleives In the Koran that teaches violence and death to all people of a democracy.

It is still hard to believe that this level of ignorance still exists. One: It was Keith Ellison, Sen. from Minnesota who used the Koran at his swearing in ceremony. Two: If you look at your Constitution, you???ll see neither a reference to ??????.so help me God??? as part of any oath of office nor the use of a religious text.

Have you ever watched a session of congress idiot. Obama LEADS the pledge of allegianc. and he is a CHRISTIAN with a very close relationship to black churches and a real command of the BIBLE. He often asks CHRISTIANS to "lift me up in prayer." You reveal your ignorance. Enough of this ridiculous crap that you are just parroting. Don't Vote for Obama. Fine. Just quit subjecting all of us to your lunatic ravings.

  • Posted By: ddettlaff @ 01/16/2008 8:00:48 PM

Of course Hillary has a plan because Bill wrote it for her. Aren't we really re-electing him? What first woman president? It's kind of deceptive because he will be running the country again. We should just get rid of the 22nd amendment that says a president can't run for a third term. Then all of this confusion with Hillary would be gone. We could re-elect Bill legally instead of under the guise of his wife.

    • Posted By: eastonhank @ 01/16/2008 8:22:59 PM

what would make one believe such a qualified woman like Hillary Clinton couldn't come up a plan without her husband's help?

      • Posted By: ddettlaff @ 01/16/2008 8:31:10 PM

Why do you say she is qualified? What are her accomplishments? Not many. There are many other qualified and accomplished independent women who are where they are by their own merit. The only reason she might get nominated is because she is Bill Clinton's wife. Bill is popular, not Hillary. People think they can bring Bill back through her. I think there are other good and self made women in this country who deserve the first nomination for a woman president before she does.

        • Posted By: eastonhank @ 01/16/2008 8:39:14 PM

well, I can only compare what I have in front of me. out of three candidates - of course, Bill isn't one of them, and I came up with this conclusion just by objectively observing debates and reading the e-mails below - Hillary Clinton's accomplishment is the most significant and her plans are the most resonable and realistic.

          • Posted By: ddettlaff @ 01/16/2008 9:00:45 PM

You have to examine what the Clintons are doing a little more. Bill cannot run for a third term because Amendment 22 prohibits a president from serving more than two terms. That is the intent of the amendment. Not to give power to an individual for more than 8 years. They are kind of violating the law in my book. Bill really is the candidate. Hillary is a guise. Hillary does not really have any significant accomplishments. Other women who are self made in this country are much more qualified to be the first woman president than she is. But she is where she is because people want Bill back in power to fix the economomy and the world issues. Her plans are his plans. Maybe they are realistic and reasonable because Bill has a lot of experience successfully leading this country. Hillary does not.

            • Posted By: eastonhank @ 01/16/2008 9:36:53 PM

It???s not really that important to me whether Bill did or Hillary did or they did it together. I can care less about the Amendment 22, but I truly care about the practical things that affect my daily life. What Hillary ??? or Bill, if you insist ??? has done and promises to do will serve my needs.

  • Posted By: VoteForExperience @ 01/16/2008 11:08:10 AM

But we need to be careful for what we ask. True change is no guarentee that it will be a good chage or a worse change. Bill Clinton did have his 8 years and the economy was pretty good but that never stopped both Bushes from getting in. Why didn't someone say the first Bush had his chance. I'm surprised that Jeb didn't step forward to screw it up more this time.

tocdavis5061..You must of not been living in the 1990's, Our economy was terrific, it is history. The country was in a suplus. Today we are facing a real recession and Obama is not going to bring us to a booming economy we once had. He does not have the experience to handle our country. I can not trust him to be in charge of our country in the crucial times we are facing and the challenges that are ahead. Edwards was an angry man that likes to really attack, He does not know where and who, but he is attacking. Its time to be peaceful with one another. Hillary is the only one that can bring us to the economy we once had, She is the
only one that can bring the global respect we had around the world. Please research the facts... Its our country and our livelyhood thats at stake here. Its time to do our homework and stop with the hate and negatisim that we hear in the media. We need to do our homework and stop listening to all the bashers.

Enter Your Comment You're living in the past. Hillary can't bring back the economy of the 1990s because the world has changed. This whole country changed drastically after 9/11. And besides, you're not voting for Hillary, you're voting for her husband. You know he'll take over again and in effect serve a 3rd term. The Clintons are really violating the 22nd amendment that says a president can only serve 2 terms. This first woman president thing is a sham. You want Bill back, not Hillary.

      • Posted By: bsett1974 @ 01/16/2008 8:59:32 PM

Do you seriously believe one person or one couple was responsible for the boom of the 90's? I can't wait to wake up one day and not have a Bush or Clinton in the White House. I suppose if she is a part of the good times during the 90's, surely then is she responsible of some of the bad. It is the problem with nostalgia, we chose only to remember the good...So think again if you think she can bring us all together again.

      • Posted By: bsett1974 @ 01/16/2008 8:53:31 PM

The Clinton's are not people we (as American) can trust. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
We need to ask ourselves, do we really want change? Together we can change this country. Its about us (Americans), not power for the Clintons. Can we even name only 1 thing Hillary accomplished in your 35 years of service for the people? Its all about her not Americans. When she doesn't deliver and is caught ot lying she blames it on everyone, but her. Do you really think she really want to fight the battles for us. Think and think hard before going to the polls. i

were you even in the US when Bill was president? The deficit dealt with and the economy in very good condition. Gee, what happened when Bush took over? Clinton did a great job and I fully expect Hillary would as well. O'bama has produced absolutely no plan, just rhetoric and division of the party. Great plan for taking the whitehouse back. Give me a solid plan, hell show me any true plan for making the changes he wants to make and I WILL vote for him if he can debate on the issues and not further divide our party. Otherwise I go with Hillary.

      • Posted By: ddettlaff @ 01/16/2008 8:49:17 PM

Buddy, the 1990s are over. Gone with the wind. What happened when Bush took over? 9/11. Our country chanaged forever. We are now at war with Iraq and Bush may try to engage Iran before he departs. You should listen to Obama and his message. We can't go back. We need to move forward. He is young and a natural leader. Listening to him speak is electrifying. He can unite people and he is a good person. I really believe someone like Obama comes along once in a generation. He has a plan too for the economy. A blueprint. Check out his website if you really want to know more. When you look back to the 1990s, do you remember the shame Bill Clinton brought on this country? If we elect Hillary, we are in truth giving Bill his third term in office. She won't run the country, he will. She doesn't have any economic plan. He wrote it for her. He manages her campaign and I believe he coaches her and tells her exactly what to do all of the time. This is his campaign, not hers.

    No accomplishmnts....hmmm:
    1) Her first cause was children, fighting abuse, and chairing the Children's Defense Fund.
    2) She helped establish the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and the Adoption and Safe Families Act.
    3) Hillary passed legislation to track the health status of our troops so that conditions like Gulf War Syndrome would no longer be misdiagnosed.
    4) She is an original sponsor of legislation that expanded health benefits to members of the National Guard and Reserves and has been a strong critic of the Administration's handling of Iraq.
    5) She has passed legislation that will bring more qualified teachers into classrooms and more outstanding principals to lead our schools.
    6) Hillary is one of the original cosponsors of the Prevention First Act to increase access to family planning.

She has also visited 80 different counties speaking on various topics.

.....and Obama has done what ??????

    • Posted By: ddettlaff @ 01/16/2008 8:24:55 PM

Your list of her accomplishments doesn't qualify her to be president. Surely, if Bill Clinton wasn't her husband she would have no chance of being nominated. People are banking of his experience, not hers. Surely there are more qualified women than HC in this country who should rightfully be on the first nomination for a woman president.

    • Posted By: MarkieBee @ 01/16/2008 8:18:36 PM

We don't have a woman candidate. She is running to put her husband back in the White House. Everybody knows that. If she wins, Bill will be back in office and that's really who everyone is voting for. Her economic plan? It's really something he wrote. This historic event about a woman possibly being president is a myth. She wouldn't even be where she is unless people thought they could bring her husband back into power through electing her.

I was undecided until last night's debate. Obama needed to match up with Clinton's detailed, realistic - only her plan sounded achievable in terms of time line and budget. He looked as if he is running for Clinton's running mate. People should take this election seriously and make their decision based upon the Action plans that will start on the day 1, not based upon impression or "Likeability". This isn???t American Idol!!!

Yes she did a great job and I know she will make history not only because she will be the first woman but the beset president of all times. She has passion, conviction and EXPERIENCE!!!

As a Nevada democrat, I have a comment about the attempt to create these at-large precincts in Strip hotels. I am one who would find it much more convenient to caucus in a precinct other than in my home neighborhood, but I am NOT allowed to do that. I can only participate in the caucus if I am in my home precinct. It seems very unfair to me that I have to follow this rule, but Strip workers are being allowed to caucus in precincts created especially for them, and not in their home precincts. It's not fair to ME, regardless of whom they support, or who I support. It just means I have to go to my own precinct, and they don't have to go to theirs

    • Posted By: MarkieBee @ 01/16/2008 8:10:32 PM

Yeah Hillary's people thought it was an OK idea for those caucus sites until she didn't get the endorsement. Now she's crying - again!
