Hey Buddy, click on this link: http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForChange.pdf
It's 64 pages chock full of policy goodness. Hillary doesn't have a plan like this one. You're wrong on your claim that Obama doesn't have a plan. In fact, he has a blueprint on how he'll rebuild this country. Now that I've shown you his plan, you promised to vote for him. How is he dividing the party? He wasn't taking shot aatat civil rights leaders. That was Hillary.civil righ

While not necessarily a Hilary fan, I do plan on voting for her. She has at least proposed plans for some of the issues while O'bama has proposed absolutely nothing. Now that is a plan for change? ? ? But ultimately, you will have no change at all if you do not make major changes in the Senate and the House. As long as the Republicans have enough representation to block changes, there will be none. So regardless of who you vote for for president this election, you will have to follow suit in the following election for your reps to assist them in the change.

    In the Illinois legislature:
Obama lead the charge on capital case (death penalty) reform in the Illinois legislature. Illinois had discovered through DNA testing that many of the people on death row had been wrongly convicted. This law, the first in the country, requires the videotaping of suspect interrogations, not just the confessions. At first, the police association and governor refused to support the bill. Obama spoke to all sides. Changes included allowing prosecutors to present the videotaped interrogations in court. As a result, the bill passed unanimously.

In the Illinois Senate, Obama assembled a bipartisan coalition to expand health coverage for children and approve stricter ethic rules. He also played a major role in passing Illinois' first earned income tax credit to help the working poor.

    In the US Senate:
With Republican Tom Coburn, Obama sponsored and helped pass the Coburn-Obama Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act. This law creates a Google-like search engine and database to track approximately $1 trillion in federal grants, contracts, earmarks and loans.

With Republican Dick Lugar, Obama authored the Lugar-Obama proliferation and threat reduction initiative which became law in 2006.

Obama, with Russ Feingold, introduced and passed the most significant ethics and lobbying rule changes since Watergate.

Obama has pushed for an outside commission to handle Senate ethic complaints, co-authored the lobbying reform bill requiring lawmakers to reveal the names of their lobbyist-bundlers, and co-sponsored bills to overhaul the presidential public financing system and public financing of Senate campaigns.

    Personally:
Obama has released his income tax returns, vowed to reveal the names of his bundlers, and has pledged to take public financing for the general election if he is the Democratic nominee and if the Republican nominee
    will do the same.

After the debates yesterday, I am positive Hillary Clinton will and should be the next President. WE do need someone that can make dicisions and handle the country. Experience truly came out yesterday and Obama is nice, however minimal experience to deal with the crucial times we are in. I could very well see him as a VP to Mrs. Clinton. It was very obvious yesterday who has the experience to lead us into better times.

The Clinton's and their supporters should be ashamed. Attempting to stop people from voting, a page out of the Karl Rove playbook, is not only at odds with the Democratic Party , it is un-American. This highlights their obsessive desire to win at any cost, to place self interest above the national interest.
Obama promises inclusiveness and change. Clinton is practicing and delivering the tired old politics of the past.

Agreed! VERY well said! Might I add that I, for one, am not interested in going back to the 'admit nothing, deny everything and make counter allegations' era!

Obama does not even have 8 years of experience in the senate. I need to know WHAT they have actually done prior to being a president and not what they promise. Action speak louder than words. What is Obama's accomplishments being in the senate and what is Hillary's. Obama is a pretty talker with no experience and no results.

Read his resume, posted by someone on msnbc comments...he's impressive. I don't see clinton's resume anywhere at all....

Why dont you ask Romney about his company, that just allowed China access to Homeland Security and the fact that Mormons, won't vote for him in Utah, maybe its all the money he ran away with from the Winter Olympics

  • Posted By: mjcrew9 @ 01/16/2008 2:43:47 PM

just remember all you Ron Paul supporters, no matter what the outcome of these so called primary???s, when it comes time to put your vote on paper to be counted, vote Ron
Paul, and when they count the votes it wont matter what the electorials say they will see that the people want total change and voted for Ron.
and they will have to deal with us then.
vote for change, vote Ron Paul.
we need new direction, not the same old song and dance.

A leading GOP candidate, Ron Paul (he has move votes in primaries to date than Thompson or Giuliani) has visited Nevada. What more does it take to be described as leading?

Lithuania with you, Mr. M. Romney.
Only libertarian-republican Mr. Poul is better, but he is not popular in USA.

WE WANT KUCINICH!!!! once again, the man with answers, ideas and a plan he is willing to discuss has been excluded! What is wrong. Afraid, of honesty? Afraid of losing money!!! We know a peaceful, earth friendly president is not what the media wants. War makes media money, war makes money for electric, gas, and tobacco companies. War give the news something "shocking" to report! Thats not what we want. We want action, not lies and propaganda. We want to see the candidates debate, not just the ones the mediia companies think witll bring in more money. Who's pockets must be lined to keep Kucinich out or timed out? I guess thats what happens when someone tries to do something the right way.. What message are we sending out? Cheat, lie, bribe, thats how you become president!!! Why do you think people hate Americans? Lets stand up and fight, and let the BEST man win, and show the world, that we take ourselves seriously. How can we expect other countries to follow in democracy, when we do everything we can to destroy democracy! Let the candidates be heard! ALL of them, especially the "extremely frightening", Peaceful, Intelligent, Honest KUCINICH!!!!!!!!

WE WANT KUCINICH. WE WANT KUCINICH. WE WANT KUCINICH. 2008 (2 World Peace Forever)!!!!

  • Posted By: jeverett @ 01/16/2008 12:48:38 PM

Where are the other candidates. Why is Kucinich excluded from the debates? Oh maybe because he voted against making yucca a nuclear waste dump (not temporary and not permenantly). All the other candidates voted to make yucca a permenant nuclear waste site... danger to the southwest and the whole country! I guess ending a war based on lies is not good either. Too bad for Kucinich, he wants to change American, and I think the media is afraid! He wants to eliminater the profit insurance companies that keep Americans from attaining adequate health care. The government spends more than enough money on it already, its just going into the pockets of the rich... 33% goes to profiters pockets. Let the people know the truth, Let us hear Kucinich in debate. Dont be afraid that he has answers, plans, ideas, and isnt afraid to discuss them.

It would have been nice if MSNBC could have allowed ALL FOUR of the Democratic candidates to take part in the debate. Dennis Kucinich has been pushed aside once again by the media. In countless debates he has been asked very few questions and given limited time to answer. Now that there are only 3 other candidates it would be nice to see more of him with the "front runners". Couldn't you have at least stuck to the 'norm' and simply not asked him any questions? Is it too scary to allow him to be noticed at all?

It was discovered that the unions' do not check immigration status of members, all 1200 swift plant employees that were deported were members of the union in that area. This being said and known, isn't it illegal for a candidate for president to take money from the unions, since the unions take mandatory money from their members. To me it amounts to illegals voting in my country.

  • Posted By: lonestarkaty @ 01/16/2008 12:25:03 PM

I viewed the debate and it was very professional and everone was courteous to say the least and there was conversation and disagreements. They are all politicians and they truly want to be President. They agree on the problems and have similiar solutions. My issue is that HRC has high negatives and I don't believe that will change very much (unless she performs a medical procedure on an injured citizen). John Edwards may care TOO much and may be distracted by his personal resolve. Obama appears to be the person who would shake the status quo and may be not to willing to play ball with the old timers. I personally do not want a woman who was a First Lady for 12 years and has brushed over her accomplishments during that time in AR., other than White water and Jennifer Flowers. I don't know what here voters in NY think. Who can win against the GOP. Don't know?

  • Posted By: dgallion @ 01/16/2008 11:46:15 AM

Mr. Steve Friess, I hope it was simply an oversight, but the line "The only campaigning of note was a round of push-poll phone calls..." when describing the campaigning of candidates for the Republican nomination is not accurate. I understand that the previous sentence is describing the activities of the "leading GOP candidates", but the sentence I reference above does not limit itself to the so-called leading candidates. Ron Paul has been spending significant amounts of time in Nevada and has a sizeable organization in the state. He is not ignoring Nevada as practically all the other candidates have done, and I would hope you would not ignore his participation.

Lobbyists are not going anywhere regardless of who is elected. They are too powerful and the president would have too much difficulty getting anything through the house and senate to get rid of them. The president, by him/her self will never have the power to get rid of them and how do you convince the people benefiting from them to do away with their bread and butter?

I'd rather vote for someone that knows how to manage them and has had to deal with them already. While Hillary may not have a great deal of experince, she does have some. Not to mention one of the best advisers a president could hope for in her husband, the best president this country has had in my lifetime.

Change? Who is for true change?

No questions about it, Bush is possibly the worst president this country has ever seen, hands down.
But, I want true change, I want my country back! I don't want BIG business running the government.

This being said, the Clintons have had their chance, they chose to stay with BIG money., no change where it was actually needed to start this process.

A vote for Hillary is a vote for BIG money.....
