Anyone else feel a little concerned by the fact that not only does the Salt Lake Temple want to buy the Presidency but already owns the Dems. Harry Reid is a Mormon also. This is a not too subtle move to take over the political future of our country. I know it sounds out there, but just study their doctrine, if you think this is crazy.

    • Posted By: true57 @ 01/17/2008 12:41:17 PM

HolyRoller is totally and absolutely wrong about Mormons and the right to participate in politics in the USA. Your vicious hatred is more akin to what is happening in Kenya, that is the wrong path to take brother. I am a member of the LDS church and we don't have anything to hide. If you want to "study" our doctrine go see what the LDS church Leaders have to say. Twice a year we hold a conference where the LDS church Prophet and Apostles and other leaders speak and teach. They teach things like: Faith in Jesus Christ, brotherly love, service to others, hard work, education, family love and support, missionary work, blessings of temple service, self-reliance, forgiveness, ect. That doesn???t sound scary at all. Anyone can go study the transcripts from their teachings, http://lds.org/conference/display/0,5234,23-1,00.html . I challenge anyone to go see if what I???ve said is true and that ???HolyRoller???s??? message is both absolutely wrong and is a terrible hate filled intolerant rant.

You also teach that Satan is Jesus' brother-That the Trinity is erroneous doctrine and that God became a man and got Mary pregnant! And don't DENY the fact that until the late '70's it was excepted (by LDS) that African Americans were direct descendants from Apes that descended from Cain and the Land of Nod. OWN UP-YOU ALL KNOW IT"S TRUE! I'm not being HATEFUL but truthful!

        • Posted By: jazzbebop @ 01/17/2008 1:39:21 PM

Still stuck on this roller? We believe the descended from apes? ARe you stupid or something? Who in there right mind would believe that lie????? Where you getting your facts, you getting from the "timothy leary school of bible interpretation" you attended? Where do you come up with this crap?
What denomination, or lack of denomination, are you exactly? Come out from behind this monicker of yours.

          • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/17/2008 1:51:45 PM

You are either too young to know the truth about Mormon history or you just don't care or you've been brainwashed! What I state are Historical Facts and even though Salt Lake might hide them from plain sight, these facts are readily available to anyone with basic research skills and a Lap Top!
P.S. I'm a Non-Denominational, Spirit Filled, Believer in the Trinity, Truth Expounding Christian!
STILL CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH, I actually feel sad for all of you whom are so deceived by Men claiming to who have been prophets!!

            • Posted By: nutmeggirl @ 01/17/2008 1:59:53 PM

So we are deceived by prophets? Do you feel deceived by Abraham, Moses, Isaiah and all the other Prophets we have been blessed with throughout the ages. Our Prophets of this time are mouthpieces of the Lord just as Prophets of old. What sets the Prophets of Biblical times apart from our blessed Prophets of this time? If Salt Lake wants us to practice these beliefs you state then why are the HIDING them from us? Just doesn' make sense??

              • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/17/2008 2:07:39 PM

You still won't answer my questions because you know in your heart that your Doctrine is full of absurdedness. And I'm not saying that I don't beleive in modern day prophets. I belive in Benny HInn and T.D. Jakes and Hal LIndsey but I do not consider Joseph Smith to be a true prophet. I believe he was deceived by Satan himself. And the doctrine that has followed is treacherous, blasphemous and dangerous!
P.S. Can't any of you answer my question in regards to your belief that Satan and Jesus were brothers? Or are y'all SCARED?

                • Posted By: jazzbebop @ 01/17/2008 2:14:00 PM

I have answered it three times no w for you, with a simple question that you refuse to answer. So, once again - who created satan? Where did he originate from?

                  Please answer

                  • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/17/2008 2:21:03 PM

God created Lucifer and he(out of jealousy) turned on God and rebelled. So in essence Lucifer made the choice to be bad.
John 3:16 For God so loved the World that he gave his ONLY begotten Son...

                    • Posted By: aad135 @ 01/17/2008 3:37:57 PM

Wow, I can't believe it, HolyRoller finally answered the question. Now, don't you feel dumb HR? What does "begotten" mean? According to the American Heritgae Dictionary "to father, sire". How Heavenly Father actually accomplished this is one of those mysteries of God that does not matter to me. But Jesus is the only begotten (in the flesh) of the Father. Yet, spiritually, we are are all His children. Please, HolyRoller, look at this explanation logically. Lucifer is not and will not ever be manifest in the flesh. It is his spirit and those that follow him that influences evil in the world. This is the opposite of the task given to the Holy Ghost who is the "comforter" who teaches all truth. If the Trinity worked the way you think it does, how can the Savior's own spirit detach itself from his now immortal body to influence me to make a correct decision, to testify of truth to me, where I am, and other simultaneously? It can't happen; logically. Yet, there are many mysteries of God that cannot be explained and must be accepted on faith. I never saw the plates from which Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. Yet, there are good and decent men who did, testified to the world, and not one eer renounced that testimony even after falling away from the church for their own reasons. The LDS Church is repleat with this truth. HolyROller, go ahead and cling to many of the doctrines of men that have been around since after the original apostles were murdered by those same creeds you now cling to. As for me, I know that God would not leave His children in a lost state as you are now. We have living propehts, called of God, not educated in Seminaries by man and their doctrine. I really feel sorry for you and hope that you can see through the lies that you are propegating. Lucifer is the father of all lies, and you, my brother, have been misled...

Begotten of the Flesh.......... The Son of God appearing in the flesh! Which is different than you and me being children of God - BUT NOT OF HIS FLESH!

Which would make Satan and Jesus brothers? Accoridng to your logic.... so where is your beef with me. You agree with the same thing!!!!! KNUCKLEHEAD

    • Posted By: jazzbebop @ 01/17/2008 1:19:08 PM

Spreading your venom again HolyRoller? For one, Harry Reid, though LDS, certainly has no comparison to Mitt Romney. Reid is one out of your field.... the guy follow Pelosi around like she is his mother. He is a true liberal.... which is fine, don't have a problem with that. It is what makes america... welll... uh... great I suppose. By why would the Salt Lake Temple want to buy the presidency, it is a building? And, if you study the leadership of the LDS church you will find there are as many Dems and there are Reps. The church holds no political line.......

I've heard this statement before......oh yeah, it was uttered by a drunken mob before they broke into a prison cell to murder a man and his brother for what they knew to be true. I fear for the future of this nation, not because of poor foreign policy, or the ever increasing debt that we get ourselves into, but rather that after 200 plus years of fighting for freedom and the right to worship how, where, or what we may, we still can't be rid of bigotry, hate, and open opposition to TRUE religious freedom. Sir, the only thing I can say to you, is stop trying to prove that you're right for want of pride, and simply open your heart to the goodness that is right there in front of your face. If you have any further doubts, just head the words of Christ when he says,in regards to those that are his true followers, that "by their fruits ye shall know them". End bigotry and hate and move on america. and

SC wake up and do NOT vote for the Huckster. Huckabee's strategy in Iowa was to rile people up against the Mormon and no amount of $ or amount of advertising would have gotten people to be OBJECTIVE. I live there and there was NO empahsis on his record as Governor (good or bad) or the Fair Tax leading up to the Caucuses. Romney ran ads to point out his record but because it was Romney alone, no one gave it any credit-- he was just 'desperate to keep his lead in Iowa' etc. Now that Huckabee's record has been exposed as the primaries roll on and others (Thompson and the media) are taking apart Huck's record it is now gaining credibility that he NOT a fiscal conservative. The thing he did best was that he obeyed the courts as Governor. If he cares about the poor so much, why didn't he work his tail off with the democratic congress and get healthcare for every citizen? Of course roads and education are going to become MOST improved when you're starting at the bottom? The only reason his democratic state kept re-electing him is because he ran the state the way a Democrat would. Look out factcheck.org about his taxes-- it tells the whole story, good and bad. The only votes McCain is winning are ind. and dems. Romney won the true Republicans in Michigan! America will be on the road to socialism if the Dems win in November. We need to put the best person in there that can keep that from happening and keep our country strong.

re bucky 21-Since you seem to know a liitle about Joe Smit and his boys I'll sk you a few questions and wait on you reply.
    (1) Is the TRINITY real or an error in doctrine?
    (2) Did JESUS rise from the grave in his body or as a "spirit man"?
    (3) How was Mary impregnated?
(4)Is JESUS equal to the FATHER or God Jr?
(5)Why would Joe Smith translate the tablets into old Englis i.e. KING JAMES when it had not been spoken or written in quite some time.

These are just a few and I hope you take to heart JESUS's words "if you blaspheme me you shall be forgiven, but if you blaspheme the HOLY GHOST you will not be forgiven in this life or the life to come.

Your Mormon friends should be able to answer your simple questions. If you don't actually have any Mormon friends, please accept my answers.
      1. Acts 7:55-56
      2. 3 Nephi 11:14-15
      3. Luke 1:35
      4. John 14:9
      5. Although there is old English in the Book of Mormon, it is for the most part regular English. Probably fairly typical of a religious document of the time.

      • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/16/2008 6:18:16 PM

You DID NOT answer my questions. All you did was quote scriptures (#2 doesn't count because it's from the book of Mormon). One more qestion before I go: To qoute Mr. Romney's opponent "Are Satan and Jesus brothers?" By all means, please enlighten all of us with your wisdom.

        • Posted By: JGolden @ 01/16/2008 6:35:25 PM

Mormons believe in the scriptures and they do answer questions of doctrine. Maybe the old English is too difficult for you to understand. If you want to really understand the Mormon church you would at minimum have a Book of Mormon as a reference. Every Mormon who reads your comments understand the depth of ignorance you have towards Mormon doctrine. To save yourself further embarrasement in this public forum, please educate yourself.

          • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/16/2008 11:46:53 PM

Why do almost all mormons refuse to be specific about you beliefs? At least a few do. I'm still curious-Is SATAN the brother of JESUS? By the way I've got a suggestion for Mr. Romney-If he gets the nomination maybe he could get Tom Cruise to be his VP. Two cults are better than one.

            • Posted By: JGolden @ 01/17/2008 3:05:01 PM

You do not accept scripture as doctrine so why should anyone with any degree of intelligence listen to you? Your logic so flawed that you even fail to understand that scriptures from the Book of Mormon is indeed Mormon doctrine. Here is a Mormon doctrine for you to ponder: The Glory of God is Intelligence. Please read the church's press release on doctrine issued on May 4, 2006. Maybe you will gain some useful intelligence.

Is satan jesus's brother? Who created satan? someone had to... or he chose to be a bad, just like we all have a choice. So who created him? If god created all living... did he do it? Did God create satan....If Jesus is the son of god... hmmmmmm........

I doubt any one could even explain how to blaspheme against the holy ghost. I don't think any of us are that smart yet..... And you can't do it in ignorance. So, what actually do you mean by this comment Holy Roller?

    • Posted By: AH1986 @ 01/16/2008 5:44:13 PM

I have a question for you. Do you know how old Joesph Smith was when God the Father and Jesus appeared to him? Do you know what prompted their appearance? I'll give you a clue, A 14 year old farm boy from up-state New York in 1820 had the faith to humble himself, and to beg an answer from the source of all truth, namely our loving Heavenly Father. If you choose to deny the blessing that God has given us once more that that is your perogotive, but please stop trying to break down the faith of others for your own selfish desire to be "right". I feel sorry for you.....

Well - regardless of who wins the presidency. I for one, will support the person. I am tired of the endless attack on the President's of our country because of PARTY affiliation. If the country is going to move forward we all got to learn to work together, and get along. I will say that I wasn't a fan of CLinton, but not becuase he was a democrat. I have voted both Dem and Rep in my life - And though I am a card carrying republican, i have worked on Democrats campaigns in the past - and generally look at the man (or woman) before casting my vote.

Anyone can argue the "Truth" of any religious doctrine and its origins. Whether or not Joseph Smith or any other "prophet" is a true prophet, it seems to me that current day Mormons actually live and practice lifestyles that would be deemed admirable in any other religion. Why is it important how they came to believe in Christ if they live a Christian lifestyle. Their actions speak louder than any of the rhetoric about their doctrine. And if Mitt Romney's religious beliefs are the basis for his being a thoughtful, kind, ethical and moral human being, then these beliefs should be applauded. Add to these ethical and moral traits his demonstrated administrative skills in both business and government, and he becomes a serious candidate for President of the United States. We need candidates who can best serve all of us: we don't need a "Baptist", a "Catholic", a "Muslim", or a "Jewish" president; we don't need a "white" or "black" or "red" man or woman president; we need a moral, ethical, intelligent person, who can work to serve all Americans, and who can deal with the social, economic, and defense issues that confront us. All of the candidates may have some of these characteristics, and it is our job as voters to select that candidate who is likely to best deal with all of the problems we face. Let us choose to elect a quality person, and let us avoid the ongoing nonsensical arguments about religion, sex, or race.

  • Posted By: niqueie @ 01/17/2008 12:23:22 PM

Holy Roller, what are you talking about. You obviously don't have any clue. The Mormon church stays out of politics (hence the reason there are Democrats and Republican members). The Mormon church only gets into politics where moral virtues are dealt with (example: gay marriage). Even then a Mormon votes as they wish. Obviously Harry Reid votes as he wishes and not with the stand of the Mormon church that approves marriage between a man and a woman. He voted against the Constitutional amendment.

The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints (the Mormons) is an honorable church that institutes any influence that it has by teaching doctrine and expecting people to decide there own interpretations. All members are constantly encouraged to study it out in their own minds and pray with pondering. There is nothing in the church that tries to dominate or exercise power over someone???s choices and opinions. This is an essential doctrine that every person has agency to choose what he or she wants. Some choices lay opposite of doctrine (such as gay marriage, abuse, cheating on a spouse) and those people will have there names removed from the records of the church, but even those are encouraged to come and attend church and are wanted to come back and repent. There is no paid church clergy. All active members hold positions of teaching and leadership roles, without any payment. There is not one other church anywhere that can say that. The Mormon church is a family centered church that believes that family is an eternal unit. The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints believes that Jesus is our savior and that he died so that all may live with Him and his Father (God the Father) in heaven with their families. Everything the church teaches is centered on this theme.

It does sound like a terrible organization indeed. Especially one that wants to take over the national government. Yah, right!!

  • Posted By: hypermegalomania @ 01/16/2008 11:59:05 PM

How can you refer to the mormon religion as considering blacks to be less humans, when blacks are mormons?? I think you bring up an important point though. The church did not give the blessing of the priesthood to black males until '78 when the prophet Spencer W. Kimball received revelation of this. The church was set up this way from the beginning, and in those times many people had black slaves and the general public was not concerned about blacks having any priviledges at all. Now I am only in high school, thus I wasn't there in '78 when it was declared blacks could have the priesthood. But, everyone I've ever heard talk about who was listening, remembers where they were and what they were doing and how happy they were it was a great moment in the church's history. If this had been implemented earlier you could see how prior to the civil rights movement segregationist's would have whacked the church. I believe the Mormon faith and I'll admit it is hard thing to understand, but you have to fully understand the priesthood which I am far from. You can accuse the church of changing over time, but there is no way a human can be perfect or an organization of human's, we change and adapt over time. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints changes over time through revelations received by the prophet from God. Look, even the constitution has ammendments.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/17/2008 12:12:08 AM

If your "church" recieved all of its beliefs and doctrines directly from GOD through prophets, there would be no reason to change them. The scripures teach that GOD never changes. Either your prophets are really profits or your GOD still needs to mature in his thoughts. Which is it?

      • Posted By: jazzbebop @ 01/17/2008 1:34:51 AM

God doesn't change, he is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow - which is why he continues to call prophets - in amos 3:7 he tells us that he will do nothing without telling his prophets. In Ephesians he says that there will be apostles and prophets until we all come in the unity of the faith - that hasn't happened yet which is why we need prophets and apostles still. Holy roller - you ought to know this stuff. Read the bible - get familiar with it, quit throwing those stones at the mormons and others..... you continue to make yourself look like a non christian with your activities.....why can't you just accept another religion, show some tolerance, doesn't mean you need to agree with them, just stop bashing them.

        • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/17/2008 10:45:30 AM

I don't like bashing your fairy tale, but Romney's(and Salt Lakes) decision to seek the position of President , makes it necessary. Anyone with any wisdom knows that virtually every decision Romney makes will need approval from the Temple. America says NO!!! Ya'll ran to the desert to be alone, I think it would be better for everyone if you just stayed there.

Do you remember that in YOUR Bible Holyroller that Abraham had many wives? Then later, it was commanded that only man should only have one wife. How quick you are to forget that God changed his mind. I don't know why I am even responding- but, if for no other reason than to illustrate that you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Religion aside, Mitt Romney is the only candidate with the qualifications and vision to take this country into the future successfully. Love the conspiracy theories!

  • Posted By: mariethomson @ 01/17/2008 11:51:35 AM

I have received one of the "hate grams" sent out by ministers with false information about the LDS church and widely disseminated throughout the United States by these "loving" ministers like Bible Belt Bigot and Huckster Huckabee especially concentrated in Iowa just prior to the Iowa caucuses. Ever wonder why Huckabee suddenly went from nowhere to first place. Hatred and bigotry, that's why!! By the time he got to Michigan, evangelicals had had the opportunity to take a good look at what was being preached by Huckabee's ministerial minions and a majority of them decided to look past the rhetoric and vote for the best man. YES THAT'S RIGHT!!! ROMNEY, according to exit polls, GOT 34% OF THE EVANGELICAL VOTE TO HUCKABEE'S 28%. Folks in Michigan proved they aren't sheeples like Iowa's flocks of Evangelicals. They want a sound economy and someone in Washington who knows the economy and understands foreign policy and immigration and has strong plans for all. South Carolinians--don't be sheeple and vote for Huckabee. Don't be emotional and vote for a broken down OLD war hero who understood a very different war in a very different time.

    VOTE ROMNEY/ECONOMY/FOREIGN POLICY!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: Ben85 @ 01/17/2008 3:07:46 AM

Mitt has the most votes, most delegates and is the only candidate to be competitive in every state.

How long will the media keep excusing his sucesses???

    Go Mitt!!!

As for the religious comments, if any of them had any substance at all, don't you think the other candidates would have commented on them? Would not the media eat that kind of stuff up??? Oh yeah, Huckabee did. Then he realized it had backfired on him for misrepresenting beliefs and apologized. All this talk about religions being right and wrong is the very thing that threatens the freedom of religion in this country.

Take the religious comments to a discussion that involves them.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/17/2008 10:29:28 AM

Oh, so your saying Romney's mormon beliefs are not important. Isn't he a Bishop? Only other mormons want a bunch of kooks in Salt Lake making US policy decisions. By the way is there any truth that Mitt wants Tom Cruise as his running mate if he gets the nomination?

      • Posted By: hoopes_az @ 01/17/2008 10:39:02 AM

Yes, Governor Romney is a Mormon and therefore a Christian. The correct name for the Mormon Church is Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Mormon belief about the nature of the Godhead and Jesus comes directly from the Bible. The beliefs of Evangelical Christians about the Godhead and Jesus were formulated by a council of men at Nicaea, who, through argument, consensus and political influence, created the Nicene Creed. That creed, and others based on it, define the Evangelical Christians' concept of Jesus. Mormons do not subscribe to these "Christian Creeds." They are not "creeded Christians" but are Biblical Christians.

Mormons don't spend a cent or even a minute of time on programs that denigrate other religions. They spend their time and money on humanitarian programs all over the world to help people in need. You will not see any material from Romney's campaign created to defame the religious beliefs of others. It is not the Mormon way.

If Americans will elect aa president a believer in the "fairytale" the LDS Church puts forth after the 7 years we've suffered under Bush's born again BS then this nation is doomed.

How can you dismiss Romney and call his campaign 'failed'. The media simply does not want him to win so they continue their campaign to stop his run. Didn't Bill Clinton fail to win the first 8 Primarys in his first run for the President. The media needs to step aside and let the American people decide who they want for President and stop interfering. Print the news as it happens and not you ridiculous predictions. The country needs a President who has moral values and experience in business and politics. Mc Cain is an old man who for some reason the media thinks can run the country. Give us a break...

How can you call a campaign 'failed' when a man has accumulated more electoral votes than any of the other candidates. The media simply doesn't want Romney to win so they are on a campaign to derail him before things even get started. Didn't Bill Clinton fail to win the first eight Primary's in his first run for the President? Give the man a break and let the American people decide who they want for President and let the media step aside and watch it - simply report the facts and not your lousy predictions.

It seems as though everyone has forgotten what got our economy where it is today. The fact that Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA. Is his wife much different? Romney seems to be clearly focused on stopping out sourcing to foreign countries.

Rybo74 ~ For a moment there, I thought you said "most appealing" religions. :) BTW, it is appealing. But why in the world would anyone think about a religion at this time? Let's think, instead, about turning the nation around! I could REALLY get into trashing most any religion. Let's just hope Romney keeps his faith and patriotism as he moves into the oval office. Among all the candidates, both parties, he's our only hope. The principles he's lived, and his commitment to service are just what we need as a role model president.

Wyoming and Michigan, Mitt won among Republican voters. This is a Republican primary--and most of the rest of the primaries are for GOP voters only. Mitt is in an excellent position to win!

He is the most qualified person to lead the executive branch of the federal government--to bring some sanity to DC.

He will not leave his wife for a younger woman. He is not a late-night comedian or televangelist. Mitt is a proven executive and will lead this country well.

    Mitt is presidential.
