Like the first post, I'm afraid Latinos cultural distrust of Blacks will keep them in the Clinton camp and unenthused about Obama's candidacy unfortunately.
With the nominating process moving into more diverse states like Nevada, the Democratic candidates are competing for the Hispanic vote. Why Clinton is ahead.

The Clintons are cultivating racial polarization.

Hey moetrac and Watchdog:
I am a Latino whose family has lived in America since the 1800's. How exactly does that make me an illegal immigrant?
I am so sick of listening to these racists complain about what they are losing. Take a look at Forbes 100 richest people in America. They all have one thing in common:
They are all white.
Seems to me white people aren't losing anything, Latino's are just gaining respect from candidates as a solid voting block, and are increasingly becoming the majority in towns.
And racists like Watchdog and moetrac just love to keep people out of the 'club'.
Karl Rove was smart to not alienate us, and we helped elect George W. Bush.
Too bad people like Tom Tancredo have ruined that good will for the Republican Party. It'll be a cold day in hell before I vote for another Racist Republican.
And by the way racists, if you really want to make English our official language, you might want to go back to high school because it seems you 'legals' haven't mastered it yet either.
Bravo.

I also believe Immigration Reform is top priority in the presidential choice. ALL Illegal immigration should be addressed and delt with as being ILLEGAL. If we punish people who have broken the law, why are there many who put that aside because these poeple want a better life? Everyone wants a better life, but as we have created it here, they can create where they are from. Back in the day there was a sense of giving to the guy who was selling tamales out of a broken down truck, now I see people selling tamales out of a brand new SUV. I can't afford a brand new SUV so my sympathies have changed. I have grandparent barely able to survive on their social security and instead of raising the benefits they worked their whole lives for, we give it away to people who haven't given a dime toward it. The tides have changed and our system is being exploited, it is not our responsibility to house and educate people who are here illegally. Our system is tapped. Our schools are overwhelmed. Enough is enough. Our states are threatened with being sued for not providing people here "against our laws" with health care and education, when our own "Americans" are being short changed. I don't care about color, race, religion etc. I do care that those who contribute are receiving the benefit. Those who haven't put a dime in, should not get a dime out. Learn from US, accomplishments and mistakes and make your country a better place while allowing US to keep our country the place we have fought long and hard to create.
Having lived in Las Vegas for over a year I know there is a large population of illegal foreign nationals, employed by the casino'a and the entertainment industry. Hopefully there is enough supervision to detect at the Nevada caucases illegal voting. The culinary union which I belonged to has thousands of workers, who are not legally in this nation and will without hesitation break any law to gain an advantage. According to the 2006 U.S. census, it is estimated there are 610,000 Latino's in Nevada. Voting is a citizens right, a privilege given to us by the U.S. Constitution. Looks like advocate judges are interpreting the law, as they see fit. Example allowing Caucases to be acceptable in a gambling Casino, where illegal aliens voting would be a travesty of our Democratic process. Does the law of Perjury apply in a Caucase environment, when it come to voting for a presidential nominee?

First off, I think that it is ridiculous for the presidential candidates to ignore the problem of illegal immigration simply to garner the Hispanic vote. And no, illegal immigration is not synonymous with Hispanic. However, illegal immigration is a problem and needs to be discussed by all candidates. It strains our nation's resources as illegal immigrants do not pay taxes for servies they and their children (US citizens) receive. Such services include fire and police protection, emergency healthcare, our military and a variety of other government sponsored services. If one were to walk onto private property, that would be deemed trespassing, an illegal act. How is that different than walking into a country you are not registered with? I understand why illegal immigrants come here (not to be criminals), after all I have worked with many of them. I know that it is mainly due to hopes of a better life and that is why this is such a hot topic issue. However, to solve this problem, the US must first put pressure on other governments (mainly Mexico) to to deter their citizens from leaving their home countries. This means correcting corrupt and obsolete forms of government and attempting to fix a broken economic system, neither of which Mexico has done. Mexico benefits from this illegal immigration and billions of dollars are sent from the US by illegal immigrants, feeding the Mexican economy. Secondly, we should admit defeat and just allow those already here and who have integrated into American society the chance to become citizens. Deporting all of them would cost way too much and would damage our already weak economy. If they become citizens, then they can pay taxes and not be exploited for cheap labor. However, those already here illegally have no case for citing the American government as acting illegally when being deported. They know the risks when enteriing this country illegally. It is not the solely the job of the US to fix the world's problems or provide each individual the chance for economic success. That job belongs to their home governments.
Hillary Clinton needs to do more than have her picture taken with folks in a Hispanic neighborhood to get the Latino vote. She can start by explaining why she's taken so much money from lobbyists that are directly responsible for the health care and mortgage crises that is affecting these very Hispanic neighborhoods. The evasiveness and posturing of the Clinton Machine is at times a little too much to bear.
Reply to Comment 1: "Illegal" is not synonymous with "Hispanic" or "Latino." You probably never went to college and live an a small, rural town.

Shame to see the Democratic Party trying to win the Presidency with thge support of Illegals here in America, Seem the Democratic Party has stooped so low that it is no wonder we can expect Taxes to soar to pay for all these people crossing the border! No me my dear friend! I am Voting Republican for the Sake and Safety of True Americans!
1. The support of illegals can't win the Democrats any votes because illegals can't vote.
2. George Bush has been president for 7 years and hasn't done a damn thing about immigration. So a Republican vote won't necessarily solve all your problems.
3. The position that John Edwards espoused last night was very similiar to McCain's position, and Obama mentioned having a similar position to McCain as well, so in certain cases voting Republican based on this issue may be no different that voting Democrat
4. To solve this immigration issue, as I understand it, is going to take a president working in conjunction with congress. I believe a Democratic president, would be able to pass legislation that satisfies most parties, and that the Republicans with their hard line positions might not be able to back up their tough talk.
The only way the Republicans can win the Presidency is if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee.
disgracefull the democratic should be for the real american working class !! the other party is not any better!!
no one wants to clean up this country and get the illagal out !!so i want waste my time voting for any of them
I am somewhat disappointed that the post-debate analysis has been silent on Senator Obama's statement about parental responsibility when it comes to saving African-American males. Many persons will tell you that the return of the father to the lives of his children, in a positive way, will dramatically improve the lives of these children and just as dramatically reduce the social costs that are incurred due to imprisonment, drop-out rates, disease proliferation, medical costs etc.
A stronger family unit increases the chance at opportunity and decreases the ills that society pays for economically and in the destruction of our social fabric.
Reading the coverage of the American presidential elections doesn't give much more than a fat rear end.
Obama's experience as the son of an immigrant - a goat herder from Kenya - places him closer in personal experience to most Latino voters than anything in Clinton's experience. I think when all American's come to know Senator Obama - especially working class Americans - they find that he is plugged into the needs of the community - the needs for jobs, opportunities, fairness and equality under the law. Not just talking points for him - these are his calling. I understand race may be a factor in connecting with Latino voters, but i believe in the end Latino voters, like all Americans, and bigger than such distractions. They'll pick the best person for the job for for the future of the country. That person is Senator Barack Obama.
