Quote:The pint-size Texan with the funny voice and the big ears isn't planning to run for president again, but says he will launch a Web site next month with plenty of the charts and graphs he made famous when explaining the deficit in 1992. end quote

What is the difference, making fun of a person's race or a person's looks. He/she are born with both and have no choice in the matter.

I don't like Ross Perot's politics but I doubt he wished to look awkard to you.

Thomas Jefferson....I have a Master in US History so I'm not wet behind the ears like you and I carried a 100lb ruck sack for 5 years in the Infantry and have worked all of the US in manufacturing helping keep jobs in this country in state of the art electronics. You by contrast, are a college aged punk who needs some hard years in mission work or military service....who....if....we wanted your opinion .....we would have given it to you

    • Posted By: LetsReason @ 01/17/2008 4:06:35 PM

Grrr...get over yourself old person. I am nearly forty, have a Doctorate and served in the military as well. The rucks are NOT 100 lbs. and if you recall of history from your Masters study is as faulty then I wonder if I should even waste my time reading anything you have to say. When you make exaggerate claims to present yourself as larger than life, then you ruin your credibility. Bah...you might have had something good to say too, as I often turn to older people for wisdom.

I certainly agree that McCain did not "deserve" to be shot down. The fact that he DID get up that day and climb into that airplane and work his mission demands respect. Now, just because someone has misfortune does not mean they were heroic or demand special praise for actions never realized. I say, give him the respect and honor of having gone through something terrible in his life and he continues to work and provide for society. That is honorable. But don't build him up for things you only know he did from himself and others who would like the notoriety. He presents himself too much as a hero in such a way as to bolster his political position. That is not very heroic in my eyes and takes away from the possible history that is there.

As a history major, certainly you have heard the anecdote, "History is written by the victors." That is certainly applicable here on varying levels.

Excellent discussion and a definition of most Republicans given indirectly by paulj66-people "putting financial gain ahead of everything else"! well said!

Yeah the Democrats have had Control Of the House and Congress for some time now and what have they done?

"Perot was pleasantly surprised when I told him that Obama was a Christian, not a Muslim..."

Why would we listen to this man? He's obviously an idiot. Next.

  • Posted By: markci @ 01/17/2008 3:59:33 PM

Perot IS a fruitcake. And anyone nutty enough to believe McCain had any reason to suppress evidence of POW's left behind is a fruitcake too.

Seriously, get some psychiatric counseling. It might help.

" Perot was pleasantly surprised when I told him that Obama was a Christian, not a Muslim...."

Perot needed to be told that?! And people still listen to this idiot like he has any credibility??

Why did the Author end this article in the way he did ? ? ?
Unsourced comments or proclaimations I am sure will follow from readers, attaching Perot or POWs, or whomever. C'est la vie .. right ?

McCain is trying to convince himself that he didn't spend 5 years in a Vietnam prison in vain by fighting another losing another US war in someone else's civil war...Romney's father said it right about Vietnam that he was brainwashed to ever have been for the war...Mitt should have learned something from his father...heis another chicken hawk that skipped Vietnam draft!

ROSS FOR PRESIDENT. I VOTED FOR HIM ONCE AND I'LL DO IT AGAIN.

    • Posted By: Bufnyguy @ 01/17/2008 3:58:24 PM

Old geezer... good old Ross ran for one reason ...other than his contempt for G.H.W. Bush... He met with Clinton over 30 times prior. Clinton new he must neutralize Reagan Democrats to win. During the election his actions illuminated the obvious. When Clinton had a 20% lead over Bush in the polls he dropped out and came back when the tightened. EDS and Hillary Care. like EDS handled Medicare... that was the deal

      dropped out

I totally agree with CNPTEXAS, about Obama. The terrorists, as you recall, openly said they would destroy
the United States from the "inside out". What better way to do that than to elect a Muslim as president and
also for congress. They refuse to take their oath of office on the Bible as all AMERICANS before them! Obama says he is not a Muslim but a Christian.. If so, he should readily take his oath on the Bible. Also,
who has actually conducted any "true" research to verify his religion? It is correct that Romney has been
scrutinized for being a Morman. I have read the book of Morman (as I used to date a girl who was Morman)
and I don't agree with all their doctrine, but one thing for sure, he exhibits something this country needs right now, and that is emphasis on family values. My dentist is Morman and he's a fine fellow and has a wonderful family. My main point is this: When have you ever heard of a Morman strapping bombs to themselves and blowing themselves up, along with many of their own people just t be a martyr and also using their little children to do the same. They say "Well, all Muslims aren't that radical". Give me a break! The American people, I hope, have more sense than that.! It's time our country started working to regress
back to the morals, standards and, yes,, the religious foundation on which it was founded. That's why THERE IS and AMERICA! People came her so that they could worship God, our creator, freely. I pray for our
country daily. Also, I pray for President Bush and his family. He is a fine man, but has been misinformed about some situations and he has taken the blame and responsibility for it, rather than lettiing his people
be "destroyed" by the media. Also, men like Romney, Huckabee and others who are more than glad to share
their faith those who want to know more about them. How many times have you heard anything more from
Obama other than "I am a Christian". Or have you heard him talk about getting back to the place where kids
could pray in school or have Nativity scene on our front lawn. Or, to follow the precepts of brotherly love and fellowsip as our forefathers did and so many Americans have fought to support. Being a disabled American
Veteran, from the Vietnam era, it actually apppalls me that we wou ld even have a candidatek (Obama)
competing to be the leader of this country (just because of his skin color). to appease the black population .
Well, that's enough for now. I would only say, America, wake up and look at what/who stands before you
and make a decidion you can live with. Me? Should he be the candidate, my vote is for Huckabee!

    • Posted By: LetsReason @ 01/17/2008 3:57:37 PM

Oh my! Electing the President of the United States really should not be about electing a "Christian", douggie. Being raised Mormon (and yes, your consistently misspelled Mormon), I am familiar with people who "feel" like a religious zealot, fighting for some higher cause, when everything they think and know appears to be based on ignorance. Historically, there was a lot of religion involved in the creation of this country but I do not think it was a black-n-white about having equal rights concerning religious freedom. People, such as yourself, seems to ignore one possibility of what that combination of words can mean: freedom FROM religion!

I will NEVER vote for the President of the United States based on whether he believes in a god or not. It is VERY possible to be a person of tremendous character and moral fiber without having a belief in a god and I will listen to their words, read about their deeds and interpret their actions to determine that for my own.

I have no reason to buy into the Internet scam garbage that Barack is Muslim (he says he is Christian), will not take oath on the Bible (who freagin' cares if he does or doesn't except people like you) or would not put his hand on his heart during the national anthem/pledge.

Mormons ARE programmed into family values as a part of the faith and while I do not practice a religious faith anymore, I do appreciate that about where I came from. I agree that family values are an extremely important trait to have in the character of our president. Yet, I miss what Clinton did for the deficit. I wonder if I would trade his terrible character (concerning family) for effective government management? I think I would if the choice was one or the other. I'd rather have someone who can do the job than someone who screws us all while hollering "Praise Jesus!"

Maybe that was the message in "Sunlight" the movie. Check it out. Interesting and entertaining.

Many of the candidates claim they will deal with immigration as the law requires, not only Ron Paul - please do not infer that he is the only one. I personally believe that Mitt Romney would do it better, based on his history in business and as a Governor.

    • Posted By: Sam_lowrey @ 01/17/2008 3:37:03 PM

Well, he is the only one to be trusted. Look at Huckabee - now he is talking tough but when he had the chance he sold out Americans.

      • Posted By: DanNC @ 01/17/2008 3:55:54 PM

Hucksterbee doesn't qualify as having a good record on immigration. But, have you heard of anyone claiming that he hi a flip-flopper ? Well, you have now. As for McCain, his effort to allow them to remain in the country and pay $5000. is absolutely ridiculous - and then claim that it isn't amnesty.

i don't know how any one can comment unless they have had actual experience as a POW. I voted for Ross Perot..Glad I did. There is no one running today that I can truely say should be the President of the USA. We"re loosing the fight. John Mccain is an American Hero..leave it at that. Don't dig up Audy Murphy
    and reveal his sins,

Wrong again, ole school. I am a retired USAF pilot that knows first hand we never had 100 lb ruck sacks for the grunts to carry around. Get some new school, maybe a state of the art electronics and Master(s) holder can figure out a way to use spell check or pick up an old school dictionary . You don't know jack about McCain's flying abilities any more than the person that made the comment about it. FYI, SAMS are not the size of telephone poles.

I hope and pray that we did not leave anyone behind in a North Vietnamese prison.I hope is a myth. It's been 35 years, and for many of us the scars run deep.I haven't had a night mare in about 20 years and I hope I never have another.I hope all our POWs are home safe or peacefully dead.RIP, friends

After the 92 election, Perot was exposed for the lunatic he is and was also proven to be nothing more than a corporate raider. He could never qualify to hold the title of a true "Businessman." He he knew this and had cralwled back into the rat-hole he came out of. Now, the rat wants to stick his head out of the hole again. It's time to play "Whack-a-Rat."

McCain is a traitor to this country. He and his patsy political friends are sellouts to the Rockefeller run shadow goverment. Perot was right about the POW's. They were purposely left behind because they knew too much about the CIA run drug trafficing ring in Vietnam. Shame on anyone ignorant enough to vote for these CFR clowns. The only candidate who hasnt sold his soul to the CFR devils is Ron Paul

Blah, Blah, Blah. Enough with McClown! Don't you think we know he's a War hero? Every time he's called out on his liberal track record, he flares up and remind s us over and over again. My father and uncles were War vets (and wounded) and are patriots. Does that make them more qualify for a job than another? Get over it! Here's McClown's track record speaks for itself - Enjoy the phony conservative:
McCain-Feingold???the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo.
McCain-Kennedy??? the most far-reaching amnesty program in American history.
McCain-Lieberman???the most onerous and intrusive attack on American industry ??? through reporting, regulating, and taxing authority of greenhouse gases ??? in American history.
McCain-Kennedy-Edwards???the biggest boon to the trial bar since the tobacco settlement, under the rubric of a patients??? bill of rights.
McCain-Reimportation of Drugs???a significant blow to pharmaceutical research and development, not to mention consumer safety (hey Rudy, pay attention, see link).

Who would vote for this Clown?

without Experience as a P>O>W> how can you even comment. I voted for Ross Perot and I also served in
Vietnam. I'm not sure anyone running for this most important office is up for the Task. Let's quit slinging and start doing.

Ross Perot has turned out to right in everything he said. I remember when his employees were left behind in Iran in the Hostage Crisis, he hired an undercover team to go in and get them out. They did. And they did not crash in the desert either. Can you imagine how much better our lives would be if Ross Perot had been elected President? And you bet I voted for him.
