Well all I can say is he will not get my vote. There is just something that I do not like or trust about him. All he has really said was about his stand against the War. What else has he done for Illinois or America? As far as I can see nothing. To me, he is trying to be like MLK and he will never the the great man that MLK was. Why has he not come out before now to counter act the things people are saying about him being Muslim, but now that he is coming into the southern states he wants to try to say that he is not Muslim. He should have been saying that all of along if he truley is not. He is just like all of the rest, he will say what he thinks everyone wants to hear. I agree with you Bulkhead, Action speaks louder the words.

I voted for Obama when he ran for election in Illinois, and believed what he was saying. Boy, I was fooled by his speeches . He was elected and then proceeded to vote "Present" when a vote was called. NOT Yea or Nay but "present. He was a total failure as far as I'm concerned. Pretty speeches just dont get it. Action does!!!!

This is the second time I have attempted to post a comment. I guess you don't want to post negative comments about Obama, he is a flim flam artist. Who has misrepresented the fact that his father is a Moslem. Therefore he has a moslem heritage. We just sick and tired of these lies. Go Hillary 2008.

Well dadgum Professor, what exactly is a "flim flam artist" ? Shouldn't we as Americans make some attempt to at least feign an education by quantifying our judgements against others instead of just calling them names? The world is watching us in amazement - at how the most priviledged society the world has ever known has amused itself into being the most undeserving inheritors of our forefathers' hard work. Educate yourselves people...about the world, about the issues that face our society, and then decide which candidate is most capable of recognizing and accomplishing the tasks necessary to keep our fat slovenly selves munching fast food and watching mindless TV shows. It disgusts me to know that the rest of the world associates me with mindless blood sores like you.

Here is FACT. Barack Obama will NOT be president. Not because he isnt qualified. Not because he is black. It will be because his speeches have turned to into banter from the pulpit. The tone he uses and the way he delivers will be the reason he's not elected. Something as simple as that. I am not raacist, I actually like Obama a lot. But he is going to have to win over a lot of people who would not vote for him just because he is black, and the way he delivers his speeches sound a lot like the sermons you hear on Sunday. Anyone else see this point of view. I know it sounds silly, but anything can derail a campaign and this could be it. Preacher or President....you decide America.

It would be nice if Mr Obama would give the details of how he intends to fulfill his promises to the American people. He would also do well to tell the world how his presidency will impact their trade, pursuit of human rights and poverty issues along with nuclear nonproliferation and democratic reform of theocracies and dictatorships. He talks a lot for a man with such ambitions yet we hear nothing of substance.

As a survivor of the recent NH Primary's barrage of constant phone calls, mailings, TV ads, and personal appearances, I finally concluded that the best candidate, hands down, is Barack Obama. I wish I could have voted 10 times for him. If you hear him speak, and listen to what he says, you would realize he is an extraordinary person with the judgment and ability to inspire that truly great presidents must have. Just read his 2002 predictions about going to war in Iraq. The U.S. needs someone who can unite Democrats, independents and reasonable Republicans, and Obama can do that. Hillary would probably be another John Kerry, unexciting, controversial and for Democrats only. If the voters of America fail to elect Obama, we'll have passed up one of the greatest opportunities in our lifetimes. He's that good.

It's amazing that people are still debating the merits of this "misquote" when even the source of the article, factcheck.org, admits that the quote was the headline (http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/obamas_creative_clippings_part_deux.html). People just don't care about the facts, I guess. Especially when they are at odds with preconceived notions.

Barack Obama has to puff up his resume, because there is so little in it. Now he is trying to assume the mantle of Dr. Martin Luther King. Having lived during the period when MLK led his historic marches,, all I can say is, Barack, You are no Martin Luther King!

As an Independent I have come to the conclusion that Obama is just a slogan man who sounds great but really doesn't have any accomplsihments to back him up. He hasn't showed me any substance behind his words, so I think I'm voting for John McCain who is a real hero and can really stop the endless government bickering and spending.

Please please please don't let the media take away your right to consider John Edwards as a viable presidential candidate. His is the only health care program that delivers what the others only promise. We are not getting a look at what he has to offer us because the media likes to operate only on soundbites and easy broadcastable stories these days. If we treat the American people like they have only a third-grade education (which is specifically taught in journalism schools) we will soon have a country that operates only on this level. I ask the media to let us all GROW UP. Report to us about what is real as well as about what isn't.

This is for salann: Do you think being a member of a christian church for 20 years proves he's a man of his words? I've seen what I thought was the most religious people you could know, 90% of them turned out to be the biggest cheats, liars, thieves, etc. A good thorough background check never hurt anyone with nothing to hide!!!

    • Posted By: salann @ 01/21/2008 4:03:37 PM

So 90% of all church goers are cheats and liars? Guess that boads well for all the candidates that aren't name Mitt. as for your saying "if it turns out he does have muslim decent, he shouldn't be able to run for ANY GOVERNMENT OFFICE in this country" since when does religion ever play into part of running for office..again it's in the constitution that we have a freedom of religion...unless we all are going to simply disregard the constitution because we fear what we read in email forwards.

in response to lexy1998: How will we ever be respected in the world arena if we allow our vote to be influenced by something as trivial as a candidate's name. And a President can never be representative of all members of our society simultaneously. Have all of the past white Presidents shown to the world that our country is a homogenous caucasian nation? I think it is unfair to state that Oprah and other African-American leaders are supporting Obama solely because of his skin color. It appears that you have jumped to that conclusion on your own without researching what their motivation was for the backing of this candidate.

JUST FOR THE RECORD, I'M LEANING TOWARD McCAIN.... BUT THEAT STILL DOESNT CHANGE THE FACT THAT NOT VOTING FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HIS MIDDLE NAME IS HUSSEIN, IS THE SINGLE DUMBEST REMARK I HAVE EVER HEARD. PLEASE DP THE COUNTRY 2 FAVORS (AND THIS GOES FOR "SCARED", TOO) : 1) DO NOT VOTE, AND 2) DO NOT BREED.

  • Posted By: jgrinder @ 01/21/2008 3:56:49 PM

I don't feel that he is doing anything different than other candidates. Hillary is claiming to have experieince, claiming the time she spent as First Lady. This would mean that if you lived with a brain surgeon, that would qualify you has having experieince in brain surgery. As for Obama being a Muslim, that is his choice and not for us to judge. I have served this country for more than 34 years and have seen the government grow out of hand behind both parties. Real change is vital to the U.S. not going the same path as the Roman Empire, destruction from within.

  • Posted By: salann @ 01/21/2008 3:52:10 PM

Since when were we such a country of intolerance? Last time I checked we are afforded certain inalienable rights as Americans...Freedom of religion is one of them. Obama is not a Muslim, he's been a member of a Christian church for over 20 years...people do your research before condeming a man you obviously have little knowledge about.

  • Posted By: av8nrog @ 01/21/2008 3:47:44 PM

LEXY, FOR ALL OF THE STUPID REASONS I HAVE HEARD FOR VOTING OR NOT VOTING FOR A CANDIDATE... FROM VOTING FOR "W" BECAUSE HE'D BE A THE MOST FUN TO HANG OUT WITH TO VOTING FOR SOMEONE BECAUSE THEY ARE A CERTAIN RACE OR GENDER.... YOURS IS THE STUPIDEST I HAVE EVER SEEN. GOD, PLEASE DELIVER MY COUNTRY FROM THE AIR-HEADED, IGNORANT AND UN-INFORMED.

  • Posted By: scared @ 01/21/2008 3:45:56 PM

I believe the U.S. government needs to do a more thorough background check on Obama, if it turns out he does have muslim decent, he shouldn't be able to run for ANY GOVERNMENT OFFICE in this country, I'm with Lexy1998, it would be an insult to America. I served our great country for 23 years, I'll be damned if I would serve for him. If he is voted in as next president, I will consider leaving this country.

  • Posted By: Kate D @ 01/21/2008 3:42:28 PM

Barack Obama has to puff up his resume, because there is so little of substance in it. Now he is trying to take on the mantle of Dr. Martin Luther King. What nerve. Having lived during the period when MLK was marching for everyone's rights, all I can say is, Barack, you're no Martin Luther King!

  • Posted By: Lexy1998 @ 01/21/2008 3:25:59 PM

I don't know about you, but I really don't want a president with a name like Hussein (middle name). That is an insult to America. I feel like we wouldn't be represented as Americans, but blacks first , then Americans. You saw how Oprah and other black leaders jumped on the bandwagon only because he is black. I couldn't stand to look at Hillary another 4 years, and God forbid another 8. She has NO personality. And she is way too radical to represent everyone. Remember them stating "We have to fight the religious right". Well she got one thing right, we were right, she is wrong.
