I refuse to vote for Obama and will chose another Clinton over him. I think he is full of it and jus loves to hear himself talk. I think he is just like others who have run for president he says what he thinks we want to hear. I am so sick of the excuses and blame that is coming form those running for office. I do not care if our president is black white yellow or green. To me it does not matter but what matters is what they stand for and how they plan on protecting our country. I do not like all of the promises that have no meaning. I can not say that when I look or listen to obama that I trust him because I think he is full of S*** . I feel that Clinton has more experience than he does. I will not vote for either of them. I think we have really bad choices for president this time and I just pray the right one is selected and that one is not Obama.

jim53....you stated that the White House has been ran for the last 8 years by 'holy rollers" and its time to end that??? When this country was at the pinacle of it's greatness did we not have higher Christian values than we do now? Were we not led by "holy rollers" then? Why then now, are the Democrats (ie Obama, Clinton) trying their damnest to make sure that everyone in the south knows they're loyal Christians who would lead through their thoughts and prayers as it states in this article that Obama said? Are they claiming to be good Christians JUST to get votes??? WOW....talk about hypocracy. The Democrats do their hardest to make sure they distance themselves from the "holy rollers" in the Republican side, but when they feel that it's imperitave for their votes (ie the SOUTH) they go on tyrades about being strong Christians!?!?! If they will manipulate the public for this simple reason, which they're OBVIOUSLY doing.....why wouldn't they do it for other reasons (ie Global Warming, Terrorism, Health Care, etc.).

seriously? i am sick and tired of the people in this country wanting everything. if you want health insurance go out and get it. if its to high quit smoking. duh. what is going on with this country. whatever happen to pride? i work my husband works and my baby is being taken care of by a sitter. we struggle like the best of them and yet i have my own health insurance. i cant belive anyone would want the government to control one more other thing. health insurance that is controlled by the government is failure. do your research. look at canada. hospitals shut down because of it. we already have 14 hospitals that are shut down here because the government cant control the illegals. what makes you think they can control this? when you depend on opther people what does that make you? i believe in helping people who wont take advantage. and they (the dems) believe in helping people so the will be dependant. why do you want to depend on someone you already *** about. dont say you dont *** about the government. the only reason the are supoose to be in exsistance is because they are "supose" to protect and serve. thats it. no handout. no all up in your business. protect and serve. protect and serve. if they cant do that then dont trust them with you health. one more thing.... did you know if they take over healthcare it will take 30 days to get a mri when it should take 1.

nobody, medicare, in this country delivers care @ an administrative cost of about 3%. insurance companies, when you can get them to pay, administrative costs START AT OVER 20%. your arguement just doesnt hold water.

Despite the aggressive, highly publicized campaign against the Clintons in the 90's, they were never found guilty of any crimes. Bill had an affair with an over-aged intern - if that is a crime, then most of the men in our society would be in jail. The soap opera was a product of the republicans and not fact based, and obviously successful in causing society to question the morality of the Clintons. Again, they were cleared of all charges, but somehow we prefer the hooplah created by the media than the truth. And hooplah is exactly what Obama's campaign is all about. I find it distressing that we prefer a candidate who is evasive at best, and unproven, than one who has been tried and tested over many years, and has demonstrated her capacity by emerging strong. I'm not willing to take a chance on an unknown idealist. I wouldn't hire an idealist unproven talent to run my corporation and I certainly would not elect him to run my country

All manner of change is not acceptable. Change in and of itself is not necessarily good. I'm voting for the candidate with a proven track record of change in the areas that matter most to our country. If you prefer an idealist who spouts pie in the sky rhetoric, than go ahead and vote for Obama.

Actually, Bill Clinton was found guilty of perjury and impeached for lying under oath when he testified that he did not have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky. He was also disbarred by the Arkansa Bar Association because of his conviction.

I BLIEVE, ONE HOT, THAT CLINTON WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY. HE WAS IMPEACHED, BUT NOT CONVICTED. LOOKS LIKE YOU NEED TO HIT YOUR BOOKS A LITTLE HARDER. I WOULDNT WANT YOU TO BE REPRESENTING ME ON A SPITTING ON THE SIDEWALK CHARGE.

We have had eight years of you 'holy rollers' running the country and making a complete mess of it along the way. Mike Huckabee has to be the least qualified candidate from any party. All he has to offer is the same, old, tired nonsense about family values 'blah, blah, blah' that the yokels continue to eat up. We have serious problems in this country that have to be dealt with and this buffoon is not the man for the job. As far as Iraq is concerned, going there did not make the country any safer. In fact, it had the opposite effect. Osama Bin Ladin is still on the loose and Al-Queda is getting stronger every day in the mountains between Afganistan and Pakistan. That is where our fight should be concentrated and not treated as an afterthought. Wise up.

Obama seems like a good guy and seems to talk a good talk, but doesn't have the experience to back up what he's saying. I'm not voting for the most popular people like Hilary because of who's she's married to or Obama because he'd be something new having a black President. I won't vote for any President that doesn't understand the value of human life and would approve of anyone murdering unborn babies. He says that he is a Christian, but he does not have any interest in preserving the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. I agree with a comment made earlier by someone. We need to make health care affordable for everyone and work on preventative maintenance instead of trying to fix problems once the condition is the worst and the most expensive. We need a President that believes in this and understands the people on a level few experience. One that seems to be successful in their years of experience. We need Mike Huckabee. I am not Democratic or a Republican. I'm for whoever will stand up for truth and he seems to be the one that has impressed me the most with his consistency and great integrity.

The 8 year term for our president to make a difference for Americans is too long. I think we should go back to 1, four year term. If our president cannot show Americans some improvement in our lives, then GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!! Let someone else try. I have always based my decision on fact, not fiction, on my choice for president, etc. I am an American first, republican second.

Obama was never for the war in Iraq. I try to be a peaceful person, but we need a President that will defend this country when attacked as we were. You saw how they challenged and threatened our navy ships the other week. They are willing to die for their cause and we need a President who will stand up and protect us.

I can nt believe that the people who lived through the 90's and had to deal with White Water, Jennifer Flowers , Monica and so much soap opera are so willing to return to it. There was so much going on behind closes doors that it was a wonder that anything got done. We have the opportunity to elect a person who is trying to be forthright, not perfect. He may stumble and he may not be able to please everyone, but he and his wife are capable of making a great deal more income in the private sector and I can not believe he is putting himself through this just too be "the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT", by the way he is bi-racial and people seem to ofrget he has been raised by white grandparents as well as BLack. He has lived in various economic level and did not get his education from a wealthy parent who wrote a check. I am going to say that he will do everything right, but I MYSELF as a WHITE FEMALE OVER FIFTY want to give him a Shot.

    • Posted By: texasbluedarter @ 01/21/2008 1:13:06 PM

Why "give him a shot"? Obama has nothing to shoot with. And how can he "do everything right" when he hasn't done ANYTHING period?

In fact, none of the "candiates" have stood firm on ANYTHING. Wishy-washy all of them. They will say things to certain interest groups that that group wants to hear but nothing substantial. And do as Hillary did, boo-hoo for the cameras and then go right back to her campaign mode.

Where and what are their platforms? What will they stand firm for?

      • Posted By: Stalin19 @ 01/21/2008 2:00:07 PM

Hillary Clinton is not as qualified: If one compares the two leading Demoncratic candidates political record, Mrs, Clinton and Mr. Obama are equally matched. Mrs. Clinton has been in the Senate for six years and Mr. Obama has been in the Senate for four years. Being married to a former President does not make one more qualified. While she was married to the former President during those eight years in the White House, Mr. Obama was working at the State level as a Senator, and before that doing grassroots community work. Ms. Clinton was attempting to put together a universal health plan that failed. She claims to be in public service for 35 years but what has she really done to show for it. Ms. Clintton did not have a top secret clearance and did not attend top level meetings with the President. She was only chairing non political, charitable organizations. I do not trust anyone who would not stand up to her own cheating husband and while married to the President could not get anything accomplished, including universal health care. Again I must reiterate that being marriend to a former President and being in the Senate two more years then Mr. Obama does not make her more qualified. Finally, why not give Senator Obama "a shot", we gave "a shot" to a man who served as governer for six years and look at the state this country is in, war and now economic recession. It is time for the Bushes and the Clintons to allow fresh and new leadership to govern. The true desire for Hope is a change and a change from Bush and Clinton.

How can you say "he will do everything right"? He hasn't done ANYTHING period. And "give him a shot"? He hasn't anything to shoot with. He hasn't been around long enough to find the ammuntion store. He can't and doesn't know anything about the job of President. All his knowledge is from college textbooks. When Obama has been around the block a few times, he may be, just may be, worth considering. But now? No way.

He is as wishy-washy as the rest of the "candidates". What's his platform? What is he standing firm on? He, like all the candidates, tell certain groups what they want to hear and then change, there's that big-time buzz word everyone has latched on to, when he goes to another group. All "candidates" (love that word - means aboslutely nothing) do that.

Universal health care would be great except for 1 thing. It would be run by the government which means it will become a bloated, corupt and mismanaged disater for those of us who are here legally and live within out means!

    • Posted By: lonestarkaty @ 01/21/2008 1:59:03 PM

Univerisal healthcare has to go to a drawing board where the American people can follow it through Congress and most important of all keep yourself in the Loop and see what your Congressmen and Senators are doing to work with the insurance companies and health care providers and hospitals. If you don't like what they are doing then you need to rattle their cage they have elections every 2 and 6 years if you don't shake them up you don't get results. Don't expect a President to do everything by hisself, SUPPORT HIM and GET Behind him and don't just expect him to do it without the voice and support you show when you get someone elected HOLD The other elected official accountible TOO.

I truly wish that I could post a comment that would be read. I wish that real people had a voice in this election.
When I hear Barack speak, I feel proud once again to ba an American. I have HOPE in the future of our country and the world. I don't want to be ruled by a dynesty, a Clinton machine. I want to shout to everyone that we can again offer the world a light of peace, leadership based upon mutual trust and compromise. MY prayer is that this election is decided upon the real issue facing our great country and the world and not on race, sympathy, or gender.

    • Posted By: texasbluedarter @ 01/21/2008 1:57:31 PM

I read your comment and partially agree with you. It is time for our nation to be turne around. But Obama is not the one to do it. Being a "wet-behind-the-ears" politician, he would be bullied by the rest of the world and under the total control of the likes of Kennedy et al.

  • Posted By: honestanswerss @ 01/21/2008 1:57:12 PM

Justin Bank, what is your point? I really mean it, This does not sound like anyone is being misleading or dishonest. They are television ads not articles. They cannot tell everything and I think you are certainly making mountains out of molehills. The problem is I don't know why. Please tell me that you are doing this type of excavating on all the ads and speeches, not just anit-Obama.

Just by being himself - Obama would improve our standing in the world almost overnight. When was the last time that the face of the USA on the world stage was anything other than a white male? Try - "NEVER"! One could argue that Hillary would also be a change from that history, but in the eyes of the world, she's "another Clinton", for good or ill. My son just returned from an extended stay in various foreign countries and the people he met overseas was "I thought America was the epitome of Democracy, yet you'll be going from Bush to Clinton to Bush and now back to Clinton?! Apparently the political machine really controls who runs your country, not the votes of the people."

As for "universal health care", Obama's plan would cover all who currently can't afford insurance - ergo, providing universal coverage for all who want health insurance. After all, this isn't a Communist society where everyone MUST be covered, whether they want to be or not.

Our only real hope of turning this country back over to the people is to elect Mr. Obama. He does not have "Washington Insider" experience and that is a very good thing!

    • Posted By: texasbluedarter @ 01/21/2008 1:54:35 PM

You must be to you to remember the last two "outsiders" that go elected to the office of President. The first was Jimmy "Peanut" Carter, the very worst President in American history and that include "W" and then Slick Willie. Boy howdy, that's what we need now, a nobody that knows nothing about anything...

  • Posted By: tiredofbs @ 01/21/2008 1:53:56 PM

Obama's going to change course and get us out of Iraq. I guess all the progress needs to be reversed in favor of a dangerous and humiliating withdrawal in defeat. That would sure help our standing with the rest of the world. They would like nothin better than to see the US taken down a notch. He supports the economic stimulus package because we need to put more money in the pockets of american people. Makes sense but he wants to raise taxes dramatically (take money out of the pockets ot the american people) and doesn;t recognize the devastating effect it will have on our economy. Then as his huge tax increases push our economy into a brutal recession he wants to spend humdreds of billions of dollars on universal healthcare, a huge program administered by the government and modeled after the plans in canada and some european countries. has anyone ever wondered why powerful antibiotics are available in the supermarket in these countries??? It is because you can wait 3 months to a year to see a doctor.

This is a time for each of us to stay united, black and white. Of all the corny slogans that the Rev. Jesse Jackson, has made famous, remember United we stand, Divided we fall. It is true. This is one time for the old stereotypes of black leaders to keep race out of this discussion. 97% of White America in Iowa saw something in Barack Obama. They didn't see him as white or black, but a man offering a vision of hope that they could believe in. It is not relevant who if anyone his mother named him after. Today, people call their kids all sorts of names that are equally difficult to pronounce. Barack Obama deserves our respect and has shown through his character, initiative and work ethic where his desires and passions lie. By speaking for poor people, the uninsured, people who have lost jobs with companies moving overseas, people who want a chance at a college education and speaking out against the war in Iraq, he will be working to help all people who are suffering and a large percentage of the people who will benefit will be black people. For all the progress and opportunity in America, there are many areas where black people suffer from crime ridden areas, live in substandard housing and can not afford a college education. This time, black people will have to stop the labeling and realize that if we want white America to think of us as equal, this election needs to transcend black and white. I believe this is why the Clinton campaign introduced race, because they know it can split the voters. Let???s be smart and focus on the issues that affect Americans of all colors and vote for the candidate that we feel wants to bring about change to the politics as usual in Washington. I believe in Barack Obama. Listen to his wife speak about the causes he fights for and why he is running. They both are passionate and share a vision that we can all be proud of. Will we ever rise above issues of race in America?

    • Posted By: Lady Yashica @ 01/20/2008 11:23:00 PM

First of all, Mr. Obama is not black, he is biracial.
And not only is he not African American, he was raised in white privelege. He has no personal experience with segregation and black people know that Hillary can relate better to them.
I see you have been caught up in the "change" rhetoric.
Like B. Clinton said, ANYONE can talk about it.
Barack is weraing out the word"change".
And as far as Martin Luther King, it's pitiful how Obama is trying to line himself up with the great BLACK civil rights leader.
Barack, you are not black so get over it.
And Obama was the first person who brought up race. That is why he was the first to apologize.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he's a decent man, but just not presidential quality.

      • Posted By: honestanswerss @ 01/21/2008 1:52:00 PM

You seem confused, by definition Obama is an "African-American" and you don''t get to say who is "black" or not. Halle Berry can say she is "black" and no one complains. You can't define that for him. And what makes you thik Hilary Clinton can relate to African-Americans so well? She certainly has many, like you in "her pocket". We do not owe the Clintons..., not sure what makes Hilary "presidential quality." Is it because she was married to a president. George Bush was the son of a president...that does not make him "presidential quality" Obama is a brilliant lawyer (like either Clinton) who graduated from a first-tier law school and has been working in public life since then. By the way Trinity United is a great church and why someone would think they have time to contact them is beyond me. You don't have to vote for Obama, but be for real...McCain is the only one still in the race with long-term Washington policy making experience and expertise.

  • Posted By: rowdy @ 01/21/2008 11:50:55 AM

After all the comments I have read, I didn't find one fact that qualifies Obama for president. Can anyone tell me what he has voted for or against while he was in the senate or has a governor? I think every candidate should post everything they have contributed to during their time of service. I think this would give the voter the opportunity to make up their own mind and not allowed the media to only present to us their bias opinions of the candidates. How many of us can honestly say , that the knowledge we have of the candidates it's the one we receive from the media? How many of us have done our homework to really find out what they have done to make this country a better one?

    • Posted By: lonestarkaty @ 01/21/2008 1:51:45 PM

EHe has worked on a bill that prevents Lobbyiest from throwing their money around and the corporate jets and buying votes let and he has worked for full disclosure for money received from bundlers of funds for campaigns so you know if someone is in someones pocket and owes them a favor.. He also passed similiar legislation in IL. I think it is important to know who is willing to pay the BIG BICKS to get someone elected.

    • Posted By: joy57111 @ 01/21/2008 11:54:52 AM

I whole heartedly agree! And Like I said just two posts ago - We need a better way to decide who is the best candidate.

  • Posted By: DidIMissSomething @ 01/21/2008 1:41:21 PM

I have a big problem with "affordable" health care, affordable for who and who decides? I know a lot of families that can barely put food on the table much less "afford" health care yet they are far enough above the poverty line not to qualify for public assistance. They are the true "poor" working class of America that it appears will now be ignored. How about a plan to get health care costs under control that includes preventative care started? Now that is a plan in my book, if we allow health care providers to milk the insurance companies because they can, what chance does anyone without coverage have?

As we watch and wait to learn who our nominees will be, I can't help but think to myself that there's only one man who can
    really help our country.

Let's get real folks, we have more critical problems facing our country that I can remember in my 60 years.
There is the economy which according to the specialists is about do down the toilet. We have wars raging,
the lack of adequate healthcare for millions, unemployment increasing, mortgage meltdowns and the list goes on.
Each of these problems is extremely serious as are the issues I didn't mention.

We don't just need a new president, we need a miracle! the miracle is out there but a good many people haven't yet
seen the light. Now more than ever before, I believe the most critical quality we need is a president is the ability to
unite the people of this country in the most dire time since our country began. We must keep our people united to
prevent Chaos. Together we can reach the stars, divided we will fail.

The only Candidate who can deliver on "unity" is Barack Obama. This man transcends race and gender... he is the miracle man
and I believe that god game him to us now at the hour of our greatest need.

Just think, he was barely known, yet he has been able to give the almighty Clinton's much to worry about. To me, the answer
is simple... Obama is the MAN for us now! Before we can go ahead and resolve all these tragic problems, we must put our
differences aside and unite as one people!

    God Speed Obama... GOD SPEED!

    • Posted By: factchecker1946 @ 01/21/2008 12:40:14 PM

So Obama is God's gift to the United States? That's odd. That's what was said about George W. Bush, and look what it got us. Remember Bush being told "it's so nice to have God in the White House"? And Bush actually said "thank you"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spare me ANOTHER gift like that!
