Obama did oppose the war from the very start and making health affordable would ensure that whom ever wants it would be able to afford it. The problem with health insurance is affordability. Comprehensive health insurance is expensive and is available to a fraction of the population. One has to have the option of purchasing good health ensurance regardles of class. Obama's approach is more realistic and achievable. I fully trust his judgement and foresite. He was right when he opposed the war in iraq, and i trust that he is right again about the vision for the "New America". He will receive the most votes, but this will not show, a la the 2000 election. The powers that be will make sure Clinton wins, as it so happened in Newhampshire. This is the reason the media (an instrument) have been trying so hard to inject race into this election. Hillary used it when she was "weeping" for the country, suggesting that a person of mixed race is not pure enough to become president. Obama is competetive because he appeals to everyone. America has won big time, because Senator Obama has changed the tone of the "business as usual" brand of politics in washington.

We've also seen it from the Bush administration, repeatedly over the last 7 years. That said, I must applaud NEWSWEEK for finally breaking away from the rest of the media and reporting a story based on FACTS that can be proven. I am a registered Dem, but I suppose some people would label me as an independent since I am willing to vote for a Republican if I feel that person is better suited for the job. As for Obama, I really liked him, even donated money- regrettably before I really educated myself as to who I was supporting. I was one of those who believed evereything I was reading, I had not learned my lesson, the media is biased. The Bush administration proved that in every election, how many columnists have been fired for accepting money to write columns supportive of Bush and the iraqi war? Far too many. Obama's campaign appears to be made up on half truths, unrealistic promises and not much substance. The media, plain and simple turned me off to Obama with one story. I was in New Hampshire and the next day when I read an article filed by the AP I was stunned when they described the venue as overflowing with THOUSANDS of people. I was so shocked I actually thought for a moment I was mistaken of where I had been. But there was no mistake. The sad truth was either the reporter never attended the event at all and phoned it in or he simply stretched the truth by large measures. There was a good crowd there but I would be stunned if there were even a thousand supporter, never mind thousands. There were also alot of reporters and all they wanted was Obama supporters, if you said you were unsure or supported Clinton or Edwards they moved on until they found someone willing to say what they wanted for the story they had already composed. This is lazy reporting and it angers me they abuse that power so casually. I've tead hundreds of time Obama didn't vote for the war, but if you look at his record- he voted No, once, Yes each time since. I read ten articles in the last two days that he is against the Yucci Mountain Nuclear Waste issue in Nevada- only ONE article mentioned one of the largest contributors to his campaign has a large business stake in that project. Had that been Clinton, Edwards, or Mccain with that kind of flip flop record it would be headlines news on every major newspaper- which brings me to again, we saw this with Bush and Kerry- and I think as Dems, no matter who we support, Obama, Edwards or Clinton, we should be demanding accountabilty from the Media- I'd like to know why the media isn't questioning Obama's message of change, or how a senator that's never even authored his own bill in the senate can make a difference as a president, what changes? I can't help but think the only way his health care, war or immigration plans could be enacted is using the same tactics Bush did, bypassing congress and I for one do not want another President like that.

Hillary's type of competency and experience is on par with the type of experience our "CEO president" boasted about. I can't think of anything more hypocritical than a Hillary supporter calling Obama "phony". Does she ever say anything without first checking with a focus group and running a poll?
Hey Jack Frost,do they call you that because you are so fond of 'snow'? you should stop snorting that stuff!
vote for a new direction for America, Vote for a chance to regain our moral high ground and respectibilty around the world. Vote for change. VOTE OBAMA!

its a shame that as Americans we still have not learned our lesson... those of you that vote for anyone but Obama will see that keeping that same "experienced" candiadate will be a huge mistake.... think outside the box if you people want to change this country around.. he is the only that will come into the white house with no favors to pay back and even better than that the only one who will help restore faith in this country....

Finally, someone found the guts to subject Barak Hussein Obama to scrutiny. He's nothing but a phony, second rate politician. He is ALL TALK and nothing more. Vote for the most competent candidate!

Finally, somebody found the guts to subject Obama and the ideas he's peddling to scrutiny. Soon, not only will he be exposed the phony man that he is, and that he's ALL TALK and nothing more. Vote for the most qualified candidate - vote for Hillary!

Newsweek, you need to excise JohnFrost's comments. They are irresponsible and may even amount to hate speech. Probably you should pull this factcheck.org article and issue an apology and disclaimer. But, at the very least, you need to silence JohnFrost. This isn't an example of freedom of speech, it is an example of freedom of hate speech.

This article is preposterous. If health care is made affordable and available to everyone it is universal, even if some people choose not to accept coverage. A public elementary school education is universally available in the U.S., even if some paraents and children don't use the system. Indeed, with the tortured logic this ridiculous article employs, even programs mandating coverage would not be "universal" because there will no doubt be people in the U.S. who will refuse to comply. All drivers are required to have car insurance here in CA. Do they? No. If this is the kind of "misleading" conduct we can expect in the Obama administration, it will be a very good eight years. Newsweek's attacks are shameful.

I think I get it now. Articles by factcheck.org authors are meant to be misleading and to arounse contentious, irresponsible, outrageous, ridiculous, stupid, idiotic, loathsome, illogical, ignorant, insane, foolish, ugly comments. Right? If so, to a large extent, you're attaining your goal.

I am thankful for the comments by those who refuse to be manipulated and egged on to behave irresponsibly. Some of you who write with understanding, knowledge, and intelligence and refuse to become part of the rabid mob spewing vile invective actually give me hope that our democracy may be able to haul itself up out of mud and filth such as that displayed here and join together to save our country.

People, we have freedom of speech. That does not give us the right to abuse that freedom and spread evil lies, distortions, and groundless gossip. Let's all do our part to make this world a better place not a more hateful one.

Seriously, if I continue to read this sort of ugly, irresponsible rubbish about Barack Obama, I will be certain to vote for him, send money to his campaign, and work hard to get him elected. I haven't made up my mind yet about who I'm going to support but as you write your hate-filled messages, know that you are working for the man you love to despise. Your words only strengthen my resolve to stand up and speak out against your bigotry.

We are trying soooo hard to discredit Sen. Obama. And once again, the criticism are petty and meaningless. And, upon closer scrutiny, they usually do not hold up. Once again this is true...just note the correction below concerning the story that Newsweek created....a correction from the very source you qoute!!!! Come on...is that all you got? If Newsweek is looking for scandals then dig a little deeper into the current Administration. Bush and Company have been serving up reasons for impeachment on a silver platter for the last seven years. Where's your appetite? And your courage?
Comment: From Fact check.org: Correction, Jan. 17: We originally reported that the AP story didn???t include the quote used in the ad. We were looking at the final version sent on the AP wire that day. But the Obama campaign contacted us to point out, correctly, that an earlier version of that story included those words as a headline. Oh please. The only reason people are voting for Obama, is that he's young, and or black. He's no more black than I am (and I'm not black). He grew up with a white mother, living in a basically white area, going to white schools. He has nothing in common with most average African-Americans. Obama doesn't offer anymore in the way of "change" than any of the other candidates, either. They all use that line.

Your own source corrects its wrong accusation!!!!! I suggest that Newsweek keep digging into some real scandals...they've been given to you on a silver platter for the last seven years.
