I would think that if she was innocent she would be sitting there worried about the fact she may be going to jail for a crime she didn't commit, not writing inane comments of using her one hour of fresh air to tan or remark on the number of letters she's gotten saying they'd like to have sex with her. I would keep writing I'm innocent somebody let me out, I didn' t have anything to do with my friend's death. It would become a mantra. But she doesn't seem to be worried in this article. Are these people that delusional? Or has smoke not cleared from their heads yet?

whatever they've done only they know. god help them!

Quite to the contrary - several people on here seem absolutely certain they know exactly what happened. No need to collect more evidence - just ask around on this board!

Amanda Knox is the perfect example of the sociopathic youth that the Baby Boomer generation has brought up in to this world. The eschewing of religion and traditional family values that was cute and revolutionary throughout the 60's and 70's as Boomers came into their own has come home to roost in this sort of soulless hedonist. Look at any 20 year old today and they are interested in nothing more than sex and drugs with no concern for thier fellow man. I am sure she laughed while this poor girl died... The 60's youth culture may have been an experiment and a rebellion born out of frustration with the overly oppressive "Greatest Generation" but there was reason and struggle behind it...the lack of any struggle before the youths of today coupled with the permissiveness of their parents has robbed today's youth of their chance to be meaningful.

Breezly..I happen to be 20 years old and raised by someone who perhaps rejected your archaic family views. I happen to not only be law abiding, caring and compassionate...but oddly enough my goals are what drive me not sex or drugs...and for all my fellow 20 years fighting abroad, going to school, working being parents...I doubt the the number of sociopaths is substantially lower than you seem to believe it is. Perhaps you need to realize that one bad apple doesnt sour the barrel and quite being so judgemental...

I find it interesting that, at age 20, she differentiates between receiving letters "from fellow inmates and admirers" telling her she's hot and they want to have sex with her, and "also had insulting letters." That right there says a lot about her personality.

It is a crime to allow an inane law that allows being under the influence of a drug or alcohol provides any excuse for committing a crime, especially murder. This law gives license to continue committing a crime and not serving the time and sets a poor example for our kids and makes the criminal justice system look like a failure. The person committing the crime no matter what drug they are using should serve the full sentence, not let off early.

Agreed. We abandoned this kind of thinking in our legal system generations ago, primarily because it simply creates an instant defense - just get tanked first, and you can get away with murder. Drugs and alcohol should be legal for those mature enough to accept the consequences of their use. Intoxication as a defense is counterproductive, and I'm glad the USA has long since outgrown the practice.

after smoking pot you may forget where you left your keys or your wallet but to forget an event such as the one described is just plain nonsense. these people know exactly what happened.

I agree this all appears as these guys and the gal are guilty but, my concern is that they have not been chargd with a crime yet. The longer they wait the worse the evidence looks. That is why I suggested they at least charge them with the drug offense and then go from there.

My only other suggestion is just playing devils advocate.... the media only shares so much information (as we know) but they said that these guys have not yet been charged with any crime; just being held in prison. So, it would make one think whether they actually have solid evidence that these guys murdered their friend or not.... maybe investigators jumped the gun and now are looking for a scape-goat. I know it happens in the US TOO MANY TIMES to count (per year)!!! It would just be nice to charge these people soon because of solid evidence.

she is a lying britch - ""Italian law provides for reduced sentences for crimes committed under the influence of drugs"" - how convenient

Sorry it's so choppy to read.... I hate writing in these little boxes... it's so hard to keep track of your writings. Just figured I'd say sorry to all those who might have a problem reading my comments.

I am feeling a bit weary of all this. I will admit I have not followed this case to a T but I have tried to keep as updated on the new information as it comes about. So, I am sure there are some bits I am missing but even with that this all just does not make much sense. It is not that I think that these three people couldn't kill a "friend" it just seems like the prosecution doesn't have enough evidence to nail right now without being charged for the crime... that signifies that the prosecutors do not have solid evidence.
Now, here in the United States we are suppose to live by the Presumption of innocence; innocent until proven guilty howver even that has been belittled by our Judicial System through the course of time. My point being, although we are living in different countries with different laws and codes of conduct would we not feel horrible if these people t paid a year of their life for a horrid crime that they did not commit. In this case I will refer back to what Knox said in her journal regarding the investigation and how if the investigators believe it to be these young people then it signifies that they do not really have much information regarding the details of this murder. If it is a fact that they do not have the evidence they need to successfully prosecute these young adults but they are still jailed then maybe some one should re-think their judicial system and only hold those people (for a year+) who they have solid evidence against.
Finally my last thought would be to at least charge them on the drug offenses. This way they will be sentenced to serve some jail time and maybe that would buy the investigators some time to get their ducks in a row. If the investigators have messed up and made a mistake that means now they have wasted and continue to waste the time necessary to catch those who actually did murder this young woman and they are free birds going where they want with out a second thought. Out in the world free and able to murder more people.

Just a thought on the topic....it is rather sad that the investigation has not been solid thus far.

I studied in Perugia last July, and stayed at via Oberdan, close to the place this thing took place in. I can't express enough surprise and disgust at what happened. I had some of the best moments of my life at the Universita, alongside all those that, like me, were just foreign students trying to pick up some Italian and a healthy good time. I hate this because it has made it seem as though all the students that go to Perugia are just juveniles with too much time and too much money on their hands, and a desire to "hang loose". Perugia is not the breeding ground of immorality that some people have tried to make it seem since this happened. I am terribly sorry for the loss of this girl, and I am honestly convinced mrs "Foxy" and her pals are perfectly aware of what they did and why they did it. I can only hope they rot in jail.

According to the family of Knox, she is an angel and perfect daughter, who could never do, or be involved in something so horrendous. Her boyfriend is the son of a doctor. Kercher was this sweet studious, quiet young lady. Well, welcome to the world of loose morals and drugs. How this group lived should not take away from the thousands of normal young people who also went, and continue to go, to Perugia to study the
Italian language. It is obvious the bar Knox worked at was a breeding place for this type of drug-sex-loose activity. Noone is telling the truth in this case, but someone is dead. Whether Kercher was regularly involved in these activities and finally paid the ultimate price, noone may ever know. One thing is for sure. They are in an Italian prison and they will stay there until the case is solved. That is a good thing.

It is reality...not a "reality show." Grow up. This wll not just go away when a commercial comes on (or when daddy sends you a check.) How sad for all involved.
