Ah, here's a reporter who knows what his job is and isn't afraid to do it! --Mike635, the main reason this is news is because so many reporters nowadays act more like stenographers and just record what politicians say. They are SUPPOSED to question politicians, and I wish a lot more of them would confront leaders when they don't think they're speaking accurately. Maybe politicians would lie less if there were more reporters doing their job. And as for rudeness--our next president will have tremendous responsibilites. Not only our livelihoods, but our lives may depend on what he (or she) does, and how truthful he is to us. And if there's some risk of rudeness involved in calling a candidate on what they're saying, that's a small price to pay for getting the best available candidate for the job.

"bluegyro", I couldn't agree with you more. Reporters ARE supposed to ask questions, even difficult ones that may not paint their subject in a positive light. HOWEVER......reporters are also supposed to publish the TRUTH of what they find, not what they want it to be. Who better to know than Romney if the man the reporter was referring to was "running" his campaign or not? Since it's ROMNEY'S campaign shouldn't ROMNEY know who's running it?

Mormonism is not a cult. holyroller. Get your facts straight. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Hello!!!! It sounds like you knopw nothing about our church. If you would like to know the truth about the mormons go to mormon.org. Then maybe you'll catch the vision of what were about. Don't say things you know nothing about. By the way we don't degrade your religon. anyone that would degrade another religon can't be of God.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/18/2008 9:02:05 PM

Chances are pretty good that I know more about this cult than you do. Studied it pretty well in my own search for spiritual knowledge. Kinda like Satan in the Garden-sounds really good, looks real good, but if you partake surely you shal die-NOT BECOME AS GODS. Very dangerous cult.

holyroller......what a username...pertains to how you think you are above everyone else???
This is America. We are free to worship or not worship anyway we choose. I know the MOrmaon Faith is not a cult. You know what?? even if a person believes in worshiping in a cult..so what! We are free!! If you want to live in a country where the government decides the only religion you are allowed to worship..go to Iran!
I don't know who your God is, or if you even have one...I must say...if your God is the one I believe..the mighty power must be disgsuted in what a low life human being you are.

I agree, you have the absolute promise from the Constitution that gives you that freedom. However, as long as Salt Lake continues with its program to hijack that same Constitution I will do my best to shine the light on the perverted message that is the voice of mormon. Stay out of National politics, America cannot be bought with your fruit from the forbidden tree.

          • Posted By: BryceO @ 01/19/2008 10:48:37 AM

Just a note, the forbidden tree was the tree of knowledge of good and evil, it might be a good idea if you recall that adam and eve partook of it and maybe you should partake of it because you are having a hard time distiguishing between good and evil!

            • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/19/2008 12:21:20 PM

Yes it was, and they accepted because Satan used the same lie that Joe and Brighan and now Hinkley use . "You shall be GODS"

            # 1, I will not stay out of my countries politcs.
            #2. I am not a Mormon, I am a believer in Tao.
#3. If you are a Evangelical, the only one giving you kudos for you religious bigotry is one of your own.
#4. Don't forget mr. holyroller....you are the one to face the maker with your evil...it couldbe today, or tomorrow. Don't forget..you are not going to live forever and will have to answer to the words you have said.

Is the gospel preaching of the good news dead already? and the living Christ now just pokes sticks in the eyes of doubters?

"Doodle Yankee", your writing makes no sense whatsoever. I literally wonder if you were high on something when you wrote your comment? If you have a coherent mind (and I hope you do), it isn't showing through your postings.....

Wow. Mitts camp trying hard to project him as Strong and Media working against him. IF MITT IS NOT A FLIP FLOPPER, WE HAVE TO CALL HIM LIER. which one do you prefer.

My camp is not run by lobbyists - Then what are lobbyists doing in his team?
I am a life long hunter - does he know which end barrel is if given hunter's rifle.
I saw My Dad marching with MLK - Not really, only figuratively.
Saga Goes on. It is time for romney to go home.

    • Posted By: NYC1973 @ 01/18/2008 5:15:42 PM

If you are going to call someone a LIAR, spell it right. ; ).

Romney isn't going anywhere. ON the Republican side, he is ahead in vote count, delegate count, number of states won, donations received. Is he the frontrunner? In Nevada, yes. In South Carolina, no. Nationwide? Who knows. Those polls have been all over the map lately. Watch out, there is as good of a chance that Romney will be the nominee as McCain and a better chance for him than Giuliani or the ultimate snake oil salesman, the Huckster.

      • Posted By: pappala @ 01/18/2008 5:58:52 PM

Mitt knows he cannot get 3rd place in SC. So he abondoned the mission there and fled to nevada, just like another blue eyed guy Guliani. HE WILL DO THE SAME TO THE COUNTRY, IF HE HAD TO FACE A CRISIS.

        • Posted By: BryceO @ 01/19/2008 11:49:14 AM

Are you saying that John McCain giving up in Iowa is different that Mitt in S.C. or McCain and Huckabee's abandonment of Michigan on the night of the primary because they knew they weren't going to win different than Mitt in S.C. Just because someone is smart and realizes they aren't going to win a state and it would be better to put their efforts somewhere else does not mean that as president they will abandon the american people. Your comment sounds very uninformed and uneducated

      • Posted By: pappala @ 01/18/2008 5:56:38 PM

You did not answer my questions. He knows he cannot get even the 3rd place in SC. so he has abondoned the race there and fled some where else, just like another Blue eyed guy Guliani did. HE WILL DO THE SAME TO THE COUNTRY, IF HE FACES SERIOUS OPPOSTION.

romney was raised a spoiled little rich kid,,, just as his children were. leave the cry baby alone and maybe he'll follow his morman upbringing. if he's elected he harm and or kill the folks we owe,,, like china. the same way the mormans would promise pay to indians to kill folks that made fun of the mormans then turn the indians over to the calvery instead of doing what they said. go mit,, you little "bit".

    • Posted By: Twister52 @ 01/19/2008 10:56:58 AM

No, health care is "not a right". And, the nickname for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is "Mormon" not "morman". If your Indian-related comment pertains to what is widely known as the Mountain Meadow Massacre, those killed were not just "making fun of Mormons". They were threatening to kill a peaceful people because of their membership in the LDS church, something that DID happen many times before Mormons emigrated to Utah. Go do some research on the "Mormon extermination order" from the Missouri governor Lilburn W. Boggs, for instance. While the Mountain Meadow incident was a horrible tragedy, the Mormons were justifiably afraid for their lives. And no, the killing was not ordered by the leadership of the LDS church, despite what Hollywood wants you to believe. Please get your facts straight before you spew more inaccuracies on the web. So, yes, indeed, GO MITT! A man of integrity like him is exactly what this country so desperately needs.

  • Posted By: NickQPublic @ 01/17/2008 10:08:23 PM

Oh this is classic! Reminiscent of Romney's "I marched with MLK" statements earlier in the campaign and also reminiscent of another politicians famous delusional spin, "I did not have sex with that woman...". How do these guys get off taking such creative license with the truth?!

All I have to add is to reflect what one pundit espoused on a recent news show, and I don't think he meant it in a flattering way but it speaks volumes nonetheless..."Huckabee is the only one of the candidates that actually believes what comes out of his (or her) mouth".

    • Posted By: jazzbebop @ 01/17/2008 10:48:20 PM

You must be a Huckabite.... eh? Huckabee actually believes the things he says? Well, for certain we can't vote for him then.

How embarrassing for a reporter who is used to creating news to end up being the news when he got up in the morning looking like that. Good for Romney for keeping that slobby looking "highly respected reporter" in his place--sprawled on a dirty floor.

        • Posted By: jazzdog56466 @ 01/19/2008 10:38:22 AM

Comment: Apparently everyone is more concerned with Romney's beliefs rather than his credentials. Obviously Holy Roller is. Can he refer to the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints, as a cult any more? Some people should try and get facts straight, and think before they post a comment, to avoid embarrassment of themselves. "Mormons" believe many of the same things that other christian churches believe, including the Holy Bible. People like Holy Roller, (or whatever his name is) go around bashing the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. That seems to be the christian thing to do. Practice what you preach. Rock on Romney,

    • Posted By: NYC1973 @ 01/18/2008 5:38:41 PM

It's scary to think that Huckabee is actually looked upon as credible and honest. Look up all the ethics violations in his history as governor. He makes Bill Clinton look like mother Teresa.

While people are dissin' on religions, let's think a little bit about a man who sells God's word for a living and takes peoples money "for God" and uses it to buy a shiney living for himself. I know that is a common practice in most churches, so most people don't question it. Think about how perverse that is. The Apostle Paul didn't do that. He made tents for a living. Funny how that same tradition carried on when the Huckster became governor. He never has a problem taking people's money, even when unethical to do so. A partial accounting from The Almanac of American Politics shows that among other ethically challenged actions, he commuted the sentence of an aide's relative, accepted $112,000 in gifts in 1999, and then filed two lawsuits to allow him to receive more gifts and stop a state ethics investigation of him. He got used to living high on the hog as a preacher and had trouble living on the simple wages of a public servant. So much for integrity.

As for secrecy among the governing body of our nation and the behind-the-scenes string-pullers that no one likes to talk about. Yes, let???s go to the Clinton cover-ups, Bush???s Patriot Act, the Skull and Bones brotherhood, the North American Union and the Amero replacing the dollar, the Council on Foreign Relations - who they're comprised of and what THEIR influence is on decisions, The Federal Reserve, the International Bankers, all the fingers in the pie that no one likes to talk about if you don???t want to be called a conspiracy theorist. There IS a secret society already pervading the White House???s decisions - obviously a completely abhorrent phenomenon to you and to me, in a country founded on proper checks and balances and transparency of decisions under a supposedly representative democratic government. Another Republican candidate Ron Paul, has a lot to say about this. I'll post some of his comments in the next few days. (It's soooo late here right now! I can't keep my eyes open.)
Thanks for reading, all, God bless you and our beautiful country!

As for "secrecy" Doodle Yankee, let's talk about two subjects, the first being temples, and the second being the status of secrecy in the current, or any other, presidency of the United States.

First of all, I'll offer what could possibly put one's mind at rest concerning temples. Temples are holy places in the LDS religion, the house of God, the same status as that given by the Jews to their temples, the Muslims to theirs, the Native Americans to their sacred ceremonies, the Polynesian islanders, the native Africans, and many, many other world religions that reserve sacred things for those of their family, culture or faith. Sacred means, sacred. Beautiful, holy, and not to be trodden into the muck by those who have no depth of understanding yet. A simple example that at least HolyRoller should know from the New Testament is that Christ often spoke in parables to the public, and then later expounded the meanings of his teachings to his disciples who were ready to receive higher things. He tells them, Cast not your pearls before swine, lest they turn again and rend thee. It's not a matter of judgementalism. It's a matter of whether someone is ready to receive.

So it is with temples and why you need a recommend to go in - through simple symbolism they teach us about who we are as sons and daughters of God, and mankind's purpose on earth and after this life. A common phrase to explain it is "sacred, not secret". I want anyone who reads this to know that there is nothing evil, scary, or ugly or contrary to the happiness and goodness of humankind there at the temple. No sex, no weird anything else you've heard. Hopefully, you can conceive of a place like a temple that is purely good, purely beautiful, and purely holy. Hopefully you are above being trapped by the world's desecration of anything that claims to be so. As for the rest of the details, you'll have to exercise a little faith in Christ, repent of your sins, learn about the teachings of the church, get baptized, wait a year, and then get a recommend to go there yourself. I promise you it's worth it. LDS temples are meant to invite you closer to God, not keep you out. Go to the official LDS church website at http://www.lds.org/temples/purpose/0,11298,1897-1,00.html for more real info.

So that's temples. Of course, Doodle Yankee, we all know that the White House is not a temple. So that sorta preempts your concerns right there. Hopefully a man or woman???s good convictions, taught to him or her by their religion, would be an influence on their presidency ??? like, honesty, kindness, tolerance, standing for truth, making peace with your enemies, preserving and respecting life, defending the helpless, and providing safe haven for those under your leadership.

But on to the next subject: corruption and secrecy today in the White House and Other Places of Decision...

There were several times that the Jewish carpenter did not speak at first or at all when questioned - at certain times to test faith, at other times, as a profound statement to those who questioned him, most notably:
    1. when the woman taken in adultery was cast before him and he was questioned as to what her punishment should be - he wrote in the dust with his finger for a while first.
    2. Matt 15:22-28, when a Canaanite woman not of t he Jewish lineage asks him to heal her daughter, "but he answered her not a word." Later, when she showed great faith, he helped her.
    3. In Luke 23:8-10, when Jesus is brought by the chief priests before Herod to be questioned by him, "Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him."
    4. In John 19:8-11 "When Pilate therefore heard that saying (that Jesus declared himself to be the Son of God), he was the more afraid; and went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer."

    I hope this helps!

    Dear HollyRoller,
You've really undermined your credibility with that comment about "authentic Christians". Mitt declares that he follows his religion, which is entirely Christ-based. Even if he didn't follow it to the letter, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is, how can we get around it, in fact, Christian in every respect. The LDS people, ("Latter-day Saints", or "Mormons" as so nicknamed in regard to additional scripture to the Bible: "The Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ"), believe in the fundamental principles of Christ as the Son of God: his condescension from glory to be born to a virgin under humble circumstances, his ministry on the earth, his sinless, perfect life, his miracles, his suffering for the sins of all mankind, his crucifixion, and his resurrection from the dead on the third day, to the eventual redemption of mankind. They believe in 1. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, 2. Repentance from sin, 3. Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and 4. The laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, as promised by the Savior to his disciples.

  • Posted By: pappala @ 01/18/2008 1:53:36 PM

Mitt is no different than the washington insiders. Mitt and his camp are trying with their BS saying mitt is brave blah blah. How many times we need to see your hollow mitt. may be "lobbyists are not running my campaign" sounds same as "My dad marched with MLK", "I am a lifelong Hunter"

    Mitt will bite the dirt.

Your right-after Nevada Romney will fade quicker than snow in South Ga. He is not a conservative. He changes as quickly as the doctrines of his cult. Romney is more dangerous than Hillary would be.

      • Posted By: dvritchie @ 01/19/2008 12:14:23 AM

        Holier than Thou-
Are you saying Romney will quit after he wins Nevada and places second in Florida? Or are you saying he will lose Nevada and Florida and then quit? I can tell you, he will win Nevada tomorrow and take second in Florida so why would he quit?

        • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/19/2008 1:04:35 AM

No, thats not what I'm saying. Read. Stop your shaking and read. I said FADE-no Romney will keep spending his $$$ until he is completely demolished politically. But after Fla. and Super Tues., Rudy will have a firm grip on the nomination. Then the real game begins. Romney has never really been a viable candidate. Too many authentic Christians around for that.

  • Posted By: Flush the Cons @ 01/18/2008 8:48:18 PM

Romney should stop with his lies and stop spinning the truth. This is a no spin zone!!! Good Call

    • Posted By: rottimom @ 01/18/2008 10:11:11 PM

If you would examine the tape and atatement of Romney and the reporter, you would hear Romney say...no lobbyists RUN my campaign. The problem is, the media is biased, Romney is very intelligent and his use of proper English seems to go over the heads of certain individuals. I do not know why Romney wasted his time trying to explain the English language or educate the reporter on how an organizational chart works....the opinion has been made. Washington good old boys don't want Romney there...he will stop the government waste...they don't like that!

  • Posted By: CoachNY @ 01/18/2008 9:08:44 PM

Ever wonder why people can see the EXACT SAME CLIP and come to completely opposite conclusions? Some find Romney to be coolheaded and adept at clarifying his intended meeting and the role lobbyists have in his campaign while others see him as angry and evasive?

Well, I saw an interesting article today that may be related. It answers why Mitt is stuck with the label flip-flopper depsite that his competitors have changed their positions just as much. Have a look: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/news/releases/2008/1/18/vanderbilt-poll-explains-why-romneys-flip-flopper-label-sticks-political-scientist-says-anti-mormon-bias-finds-cover

This article is so typical. The MSM dares to say that they have littles access to Romney. Wow , what a surprise, they do nothing but belittle him,His conservatism being an overt threat to their yellow journalistic leanings. That they should all now band together to support this weasel of a journalist is predictable as well. How dare Romney not allow their driveby media habits to go into withdrawl, They need to perhaps rotate from one campaign to another to get their sensationalistic fix elsewhere.

  • Posted By: sktmango @ 01/18/2008 8:50:26 PM

Ron your a poor reporter. Get your facts straight.

  • Posted By: dunnhaupt @ 01/18/2008 8:02:19 PM

Romney has one natural advantage over all other candidates of both parties: He looks presidential, he looks credible as supreme commander of the US Forces - can you see Hillary in that role? Like it or not, as we all know from previous elections, some voters go by looks.

  • Posted By: hark a lark @ 01/18/2008 6:56:19 PM

oh my goodness! You think that's a temper???? Give me a break... he was stern and frustrated with the guy, trying to emphasize a point some rude, arrogant reporter wants to contradict...but obviously not losing his temper. It amazes me what the Romney hating media tries to rack up. Give it up, we don't fall for your ridiculous mud slinging.

I thought this was an interesting article on Romney's flip-flopping. I'm sure this isn't true all of the time, but it certainly fits the mold of comments I have seen on this and other blogs:

I'm not a big fan of Mitt Romney, and when I read this article I came away with the distinct impression that he had lost his cool, and really made a gaffe of the situation. I then watched the video, though, and he clearly handled it very well, as did his aide. This article is pretty misleading, and to capture the incident accurately really ought to have focussed on how rude and arrogant this young reporter had been.
