This world is totally out of control to allow cloned animals on the dinner table. There should be a label on all meat from cloned animals. I often wonder if we are already consuming this craziness. The madness needs to stop. Whatever happened to mating of animals? Evidently the ones who makes the decisions do not eat meat. That is just down right GROSS. The more I hear, the more I want vegetables only.

"There is some evidence that cloned animals show a higher propensity for developmental problems, such as mental retardation."

Twins watch out - there's some evidence you may be retarded. I wonder if the author is a twin?

Does this mean that eating a retarded cow will make us retarded as well? I've always wondered what was wrong with those young hooligans down the street from me. They both work at McDonald's.

I don't care if it is deemed safe to eat or not. I do not want to eat someone's science project. I will not eat cloned food. If the government decides to market it it should label that food as what it is, and they should eat cloned food before it is distributed to anyone else.

Aberrant flesh is an abomination to God which caused Him to utterly destroy Soddom and Gemorrah. There is no way that I will ever willingly eat cloned animals.

Science is the work of man and men are mislead by the great accuser. The Bible is specific as to what we should eat and it forbids defiled flesh.

Epigenics is the study of external activators 'outside or in addition to' principle core-strand DNA. It is based on the discovery that certain encoding sequencers that effect the final endstate or activation of cellular phenotype as a functional stabilizer are NOT in the primary genetics. And that these dynamic elements may have an environmental or at least long-period (transgenerational) reset/flush period to maintain functional efficiency. I won't claim a Gaea effect but things like prions clusters and other (carcinogenic peptides may 'set the clock' on certain eventuated cancers) are not to be messed with lightly as catalyst enablers for cell growth. Until and unless we can assure ourselves that we are not eating an unstable endphase meat whose proteineic legacy is not transferrable to our own, we REALLY need to put a hold on cloned meat 'optimization' experiments.

"... the possibility remains that some may harbor subtle genetic defects that could impair their health or make them unsafe for consumption" Or should that have been "epigenetic defect?"

As anyone taking Chemistry 101 finds out, it is statistically possible that all of the air molecules in a room could suddenly move to one side of the room, leaving you standing in a vacuum. What are we doing about that?

Clones - wow! I'm so worried about the health effects of cloned food that I've got to go light up a cigarette and go for a drive.

I don't really care about whether my food is cloned or not as long as it is unharmful.

Bring on the cloned steak! As long as it doesn't make people sick or have any weird side affects different than the real steak, why not eat it?

The biggest reason people are wary of cloned animals is because of the movies. No one would freak out about cloned lettuce or pickles.

Cloned lettuce or pickles? phhh... give me a break. Ya... all those movies of cloned animals are freaking me right out~

  • Posted By: jazzbebop @ 01/19/2008 1:01:36 AM

Well, at least we know that cloned animals have a higher propensity for developmental problems... but it shouldn't pass down to us. I wonder how many years of that study we have data for?

No way would I touch that stuff, I rather go without.
