One thing that the scientists don't take into account about interstellar filight is the fact technology may be developed in the future which will make their claims look ludicrous. After all, 200 years ago we didn't have the theories which the Wright brothers used to develop their airplane much less the engine that they used. To suppose that we will never develop the technology to travel through interstellar space because we can't think of a theory to permit us to do so today is the height of ignorance.

One thing that some of the scientists don't take into account when they say that interstellar travel is impossible is that technology may be developed that would allow it to be possible. After all, 200 years ago we didn't have the theories that the Wright Brothers developed to design their airplane much less the engine that they used to power it. Who knows what theories we will come up with in the future? To suppose that we have all the theories today is to suppose that we are at the pinnnacle of our knowledge and nothing more needs to be discovered.

Ok, so why don't you shorten this article to just say, "Scientists don't believe there are UFO's and think people who do are full of crap"

The "I didn't see it myself, so I will come up with 100 reasons why you're wrong" theory is not a very good one. If that way of thinking is supposed to make sense, then people shouldn't believe in much of anything. Have you ever seen something get cloned? Ever seen a baby get aborted? Have you ever seen the Superbowl in person? According to the arguments of this article, if you haven't actually seen these things, you couldn't possibly believe they actually happen.

The fact that a being has not been captured or revealed for public view certainly keeps most people skeptical about the reality of UFOs as spaceships from alien civilizations. Plus, as you say, the incredible technology required for inter-galactic space travel at the speed of light.

HOWEVER... the government could do us all a favor if it did not fudge on the facts of what it knows -- which it has done in published retractions (Roswell) and other confirmed threats it has made to those involved. And also it could easily follow up all major sightings with info about military or other flights they would confirm with public documents as military or FAA flights. But, no, that would require a responsible U.S. government.
