Why do people see UFOs? Because the UFOs are there! I have seen ONE Ufo in my life.....very unexpectedly, when I was thinking of nothing in particular, butr just happened to glance out the window. It was a huge, golden circular object, shaped somewhat like a bicycle wheel, with spokes from the inside circle to the outer circle. It was in broad daylight, and the object stayed in the sky, visibly, for only about 45 seconds....too short a time for me to search for my camera, so I just looked, until it disapppeared.
I sure would like to see another UFO....but I've only seen this one. This happened to me about 15 years ago, whilst I was living in Little Neck, New York.
I haven't seen any others -- before or since -- because I wasn't around any!
To repeat....in my opinion, people see "flying saucers" for only one reason.....because the flying saucers are THERE! Too many people -- including famous people -- have seen them, through the years, for them to be figments of everyone's imaginations!

      Because they are there.

Incedentally, I suggested (in an earlier BLOG) going to this site: http://www.syti.net/UFOSightings.html. Unfortunately, the site is colored blue on blue making it difficult to read. You can over come this problem by right clicking on the site and then clicking on Select All and that will highlight the writings making them much easier to read. To get to the site left click, drag the ccurser across the URL and highlite http://www.syti.net/UFOSightings.html then right click and select COPY then paste it to the URL bar.

So, here I am having the time of my life participating in a BLOG when suddenly interest from others seems to have faded away. This, of course, is pretty much the way it gose with the subject. I watched and interview with a Russian army office on TV (Russia considers UFO's to be a serious matter). Anyway, after the documentary he was featured on ran the gamut of alleged sightings he (the officer) summed it up by saying "I think it is something that we don't know nothing about it". A most profound statement

hey frank and creptylou; maybe all 460 of them are all black and lying (and no, this is not meant to be racist), and they are saying what they have said because they are now being told to. ) WOuld all 460 of them now, at this point in time, chose to live with the anxiety they might get smacked cause they open their mouth? Looks like they're staging the plausible scenario that will be laid down as the "historical truth" for the next 50 years.

" Yeah, that's what happened, everyone was duped from 47 to like 2008, like the gov't knew they were around but was like scared people wouldn't know how to reaict, dude, so like they reverse engineered stuff from the roswell crash man, you see, that's what happened, so when they came man, we were ready for, but like man, the bad guys came before the good al's, and it was like nasty man. Good thing they were smart enough back then to like prime their headbones with lots of good ole' sci-fi flicks, Yeah and then there was the eugenics thing, so I can fingure out how I got here in 2058, especially talkin' like this, but by Jesus do I like them there flyin' cars - to bad they gotta read my mind to let me drive, but hell they've been doing that for yeurs whether people were flying the car or not!!" Yes, there are some big mysteries here that will play out before our eyes. Will you believe what you are told? A sufficiently developed technology should appear to be magick!!

Scream for disclosure all you want. When you get it, remember to ask yourself who it's coming from. Did you get to sit with that person yourself, ask them your own questions? Force their memory here if you ever get a chance - memories should include details of environment and events preceeding and post-ceeding significant observation/disclosure events. Even ask them the weather that day, other emotional turmoil in their life surrounding events, how he/she felt around their spouse/children carrying heavy knowledge/xperience, stuff like that? If they really had experiences where they saw things of truly great signifaicance, there would be ooodles of data tucked in their head, so dig it. Measure their verbal and non-verbal behavior. My point is here, all of these so-called disclosures come from second, third, fourth sources, most often. Do they not? Read up on Tesla. Was my spelling OK?

Is the incorporation of information gleaned from the National Press Club regarding
the below mentioned military officers etc., too low brow
    for newsweek?
Where does the research in this article coalesce with the information that is now out there on this topic?
Perhaps this is a time for journalists to be more courageous, and brave the stigma that they may
experience in doing a mainstream article on this.
These people (alluded to in below posting)with , in terms of their personal character, were ones entrusted with high security issues.
Now that they have attested, first hand ,to having witnessed ufo incidents , the mainstream
reaction, in the press especially , is conspicuously silent.
Is the press, or public in general, necessarily willing to discredit so quickly , those with whom we (the organizations)entrusted high security
    matters at one time?
The press has a responsibility to be informed. The public becomes informed through the press.
This issue has turned into an examination of how govts. and press handle issues of security.
In terms of what has been said , if it is true regarding NASA (disclosure project film)withholding information regarding
crafts not of earthly origin. It calls into question,
the latitude that has been exerted regarding secrecy regarding their activities.
NASA was established having the moniker of the nations public space program.
    How public is it?
Has NASA"S right to utilize existing secrecy laws given way to over-reaching and self-serving
    exploitation of those laws?
the public should assert its will and put
the pencil to what their tax dollar is going.
NASA was established by the U.S. govt., however.
Sorry to say, many of these organizations that are insulated from public scrutiny can become
    bloated and mismanaged.

Regarding the Frank Fields letter 01/27/2008: BRAVO!

In support of evidence I suggest going to this site: http://www.syti.net/UFOSightings.html

This article is not well researched and does not look at all the facts. There is solid evidence of extraterrestrial visitation if one would just look.

Solid testimony from over 460 corporate and military witnesses has been accumulated by two disclosure initiatives. These 460 disclosure witnesses have openly stated they are willing to testify, under oath and before Congress about their direct encounters with crash site investigations, secret documents, photographic evidence, radar reports and recovered crashed ET vehicles.

As an Attorney, I can attest that the jurisprudential evidence of this quality does not get any better, especially when witnesses possess the ranks of Brigadier Generals, Commander of ICBM Launch facilities, Senior FAA Crash Site Investigators, astronauts, pilots and officers with above top secret clearance. This testimony is only the tip of the iceberg.

Many Governments have started releasing previously classified data on ETs and UFOs. France was the first, in March 2007 the French National Space Agency placed 1600 previously classified UFO sighting reports into the public domain for examination; beginning the process of full disclosure of non-Earth origin craft. Similarly, the United Kingdom in May 2007 began a disclosure initiative. Other counties have started to follow suit. It is time for the United States to do the same.

The United Nations General Assembly voted to invite U.N. Member States "to take appropriate steps to coordinate on a national level scientific research and investigation into extraterrestrial life, including unidentified flying objects, and to inform the Secretary-General.???

The Honorable Paul Hellyer, a former Canadian Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, stated publicly in September 2005 at the University of Toronto???s Convocation Hall before the press and over 500 people, "UFOs, are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head."

Colonel Phillip J. Corso, a highly decorated retired US Army Intelligence officer, who had direct contact with, and was in charge of material from crashed extraterrestrial vehicles, recorded his experiences in a book. Colonel Corso???s documentation is supported by a retired U.S. four star General as being, ???true and even more??????

In my personal experience, I was a U.S. Army Major and held a top secret clearance. I worked as an Army Computer Scientist and am a graduate of the U.S. Army Computer Science School. My awards include the Bronze Star Medal for leadership in combat as well as many others. As a result of my positions other officers have confided in me and I have no doubt that ETs have visited our planet.

Please conduct your own investigation into this matter and help end the governmental and media secrecy. This massive cover-up has been going on far too long. Articles like this appear to be disinformation when obviously no real research was done .

Even facts come from earth itself! Us humans are aliens, part of earth. How do you think we came to be humans? First earth is like any other uknown planet that has air and can support life. The history of us becoming onto earth is all the facts we need. They, the "aliens" may be just like us, but with better technology. We can get to space too, right?

I agree with most of these postings.
Perhaps it is time to register some lucid protest at the ironic level of reaching and grasping at straws
that takes place, to evade the possibility that what people see is.........what they saw.

if someone witnesses a purse snatching they don't examine the Junigian extrapolations, to find
an alternative, sanitized explanation to conform to , and palliate their sense of denial.
Reaching for internal ephemeral, explanations, to deny that
something unexplainable or ... 'bad' took place.
( We really haven't determined whether these flying things are 'good' or 'bad, not my point )

So many knee- jerk skeptics presume to enlighten us on -humans 'needing to believe in supernatural things as part of our nature' and
supplanting a desire to find God or a supreme being with the "need to believe" in ufos.
There are always going to be the 'magical thinkers , the quixotic thinkers.
That really is not what this is about.
Most of that kind of selling peoples own judgement short is nonsense.
These people didn't ask to see these things while they were shoveling snow or ..being soccer moms.
Mind you, the need to deny and to not believe is just as strong and 'smoke from the same fire' as the need to believe.
People(especially professional skeptics) go through ridiculous contortions attempting to condescendingly sober others up , so their own belief systems are reinforced.
Those belief systems are often based on a sense of denial. In this discussion the denial is that some other living or intelligent entity couldnt' possibly be
    piloting what might be...
I dare say... a vehicle of some sort.

This duck might be walking like a duck.
In medicine, as a model for deduction, you gravitate toward the most likely diagnosis first.
Group hallucinations and all the other filmy metaphysical stuff that are offered up as an explanation for one seeing something unusual.
Now that is truly 'magical thinking'.
In fact maybe the psychologists shouldn't be allowed to dine at the 'adults table' anymore.
A physical , seemingly 'intelligently controlled' vehicle would be the first choice of likelihood,
not the last, given the arcane and murky alternate explanations that are given that smack of
    'inexact science.
The very kind of inexact science that the scientific community didactically admonishes us about..

Why does UFO frequently appears only in UNITED STATES?
Anyone actually outside US experienced this kind of stuff?

I'm not saying that there is nor I am saying that there isn't cause there is no harm in believing that we are NOT the only living creature in this HUGE universe. funny thing tho, it always happen to americans...

    • Posted By: YOU WANT ALIENS? @ 01/27/2008 1:58:50 AM

Just tonight in the Mexican Channel "impacto" they showed a sighting of about 80 unexplained spheres in the sky in plain day light. today is Sat 26th 2008 They had seen the same sighting right before Mexico had that big disastrous earthquake two decades ago. Same thing!!!

    • Posted By: keeno43 @ 01/26/2008 1:44:46 AM

theres no places that thay havent been seen

  • Posted By: whitecat31 @ 01/26/2008 12:32:11 AM

Part of the article says that there are more sightings during times of Earthquakes. This does not disprove Spaceships. In fact knowing physics, one could surmise this might actually improve the odds they exist.
According to Einstein, when trying to figure out the energy to achieve light speed, he came up with this formula E=MC2. The E = energy, M = mass. C2 is C squared. Which is the speed of light multiplied by itself.
Basically to get an object with mass up to light speed you would have to exert lots of energy. That type of energy is hard to come by. If you had a way to alter how mass is interpreted by normal physics, you could reduce the energy needed to achieve light speed. You could call this a gravity mass altering device.
It is safe to assume that type of device might have an effect on the planets gravitational field and increase the chance of Earthquakes if operated to close to the planet. With ambitious suspended animation technology a race could use this type of light speed engines to achieve travel among the stars.
There also could be space folding technology where the fabric of space is folded from its normal curvature to allow for a short trip made out of a long trip. Perhaps this could also affect the Earths gravitational fields and cause or increase the chance of an Earthquake.

    • Posted By: YOU WANT ALIENS? @ 01/27/2008 1:37:58 AM

Maybe that energy is being taken from our planet and just like a thief, these beings do not think that us the inferior race (humans) even suspect of it, that is why they sneak in and out without calling first. For them, dinner is always served.....(fuel, energy)... wow...... I am scaring myself........sorry if I am frightening anybody else out there.

The Government knows that "UFOs" exist, but they pay professional scientist-debunkers hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to deliberately mislead the American People. Another reason I love our wonderful government-- which keeps its citizenry in line through the propagation of fear, ignorance and intimidation...

I believe the Gov has already been in this Tx town and has paid everyone for their pictures. I do not conceive no one has a picture, video, cell pic. etc.......I am sorry but they have already been there.....

I agree with you. If the world ends I will move to Mexico.

Funny; that this article is the first thing that caught my eye today. Last night I observed what I believe was In "fact" a UFO even if NASA launched the space shuttle or even if some other agency launched something, or whatever. I have never reported a UFO and I don't know who I would report it to even if I felt inclined to do so. I do wonder whether or not anyone else on this planet saw "what they or anyone else saw "IT". I live in Georgia, USA in the country or what most call the "sticks". I am not a Physics grad, but did manage to complete a BS in psychology. I wasn't smoking a joint and have not partook in to many years which is probably my lost, ect. Last, I don't think I am a nut case though some might disagree. Anyway, the damn thing looked for real to me and I do not care to listen to any so called explanation. I know what I initially observed with my naked eye and then for about an hour with my cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccyybscope. It looked real to me and if they or whoever could ensure me that I could somehow with stand the G forces just pick me up in Georgia and I will gladly go for a ride and they will not even have to worry about bringing me back home anytime soon or maybe forvever. I swear this on a Bible or a rock

Please the government just came out and said that fighter jets were in the area now after denying it for two weeks. Whats that all about?? Why lie about the truth for two weeks? The only thing I have to say about UFO episodes that hit the media airwaves is that every episode is accompanied by somebody trying to disprove it. The notion that a scientist or the article writer here can use the term "simple physics" to try and explain possible interplanetary travel between star systems is a disgrace to the concepts of science and physics all together. What do we know about alien technology? The public knows nothing. But go dig deep in some government safehouse basement 10000 feet below sea level and see what you find. Does the public really believe that our government isnt hiding something about the bigger picture? Come on. I know im all over the place with my comment but basically I believe some people may have sleep deprivation and their minds make up what they see..I believe that 90% of the time. But the other 10%.. the episodes where people over a large area report the same thing and characteristics...whats that? Mass hysteria? Please. Its unexplained...and most of those unexplained epiodes stay right there...unexplained.

I live in the great northwestern United States where we enjoy (mostly) cloud cover a good part of each year. Generally we can count on clear skies approximately three (summer) months each year and that is when many sightings are reported. Generally it takes most of the first month of clear skies to realize that what most of us thought was a UFO is actually the sun. However, this should not distract from what others see and report. But, the question remains that if there really is an alien life looking us over why haven't they landed and introduced theirselves? On the other hand, given our habit of slaughtering one another that could be a deterrent. As for myself, I hesitat to go downtown after dark for the same reason

  • Posted By: Alven @ 01/26/2008 6:51:53 PM

Using Wittgenstein's duck-rabbit analogy, along with teleportation as a sort of vehicle for intergalactic space travel, seems to me one way of debunking veridical events such as the UFO sightings in Stephenville, TX. They are both extreme analogies which really do nothing to address witness testimony. Besides this, the article fails do provide an evolutionary model for radar recordings of unidentified flying objects which operate outside the parameters of known, man-made craft. Essentially, UFOs are a perceived national security risk. The government does not acknowledge this to the public, but then any informed American ought to not be shocked by this.

The only thing I seriously doubt is that extraterrestrials could ever exceed the pomposity of this writer.
