several years ago i was a teenager and playing on the street in front of our house it was a nice evening there were a few neighbors out sudenly our next door neighbor told us to look up and there it was this ligth on top of the mountain this wasnt an airplane or a helicopter. its colour was unique my mother and brothers sow it too when i took my eyes of it to see if my mom was seeing this and she was i looked again and it was gone. I think its foollish to not belive with all the evidence there is out there. unfortunately, our goverment will not accept this even if a ufo land crashes the white house

Adam K.: Just because you're young doesn't mean you should discredit or apologize for your opinions. You make valid points. I believe legitimate answers to the sighting and many other things can be answered if one takes a good look at the current research being done in the field of physics, especially string theory. In addition, you might be surprised that the concept of god, as energy, can exist within this realm of undersanding.
I believe you're not an atheitst, Adam, more so an agnostic--meaning not knowing. You've turned away from religion because none of it resonates as a whole truth to you. This is a wonderful thing! You're utilizing your gift of critical thinking--not taking someone's word for it just because. I would like to urge you, however, to continue your search. There are the answers out there that you are looking for. And, most interestingly enough, many of the answers already lie within you.

I like the way you explained to young Adam the situation. It is throught critical analysis of the facts and
your personal belief's that one can reach an opinion .in life we should not be afraid to voice our views,
as via this channel we are able to appreciate different views and understanding our own shortcomings.
Young Adam you are on the road to understanding more critical views.

Thank you and my father should hear about this. He will agree about this. He is a non practicing christian. Many of my fellow school mates agree with me. Im writing a storie about UFO expereinces *non-fiction) and a fictional storie about my fathers sighting but with added parts.

"The answer is yes, but it would require 100 million centuries to transfer the data of 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bits." This line really amuses me... I remember being in the second grade (I'm 40 now) and reading a story about computers. The question was, could a computer ever hold as much information as the human brain. The answer was "yes, but it would have to be the size of the Empire State building". Why? Because computers in the 1960's relied on vacuum tubes. Imagining a technology that can transfer information faster than we can is relatively easy, since they already have it in Japan. But it really isn't a stretch to imagine that something we've never thought of yet could do it by many orders of magnitude. I think this whole story, which says "Don't make fun of people who SAY they see UFO's" is in fact making fun of them. I've never seen one, but if I and twenty other people in the same town see something that we can describe in detail, then it may not be an alien spaceship and we may be putting an explanation together out of known phenomenon, but it is NOT some kind of mental illusion like the demons or angels of the middle ages. The man who was judging distances and speeds was a PILOT, who has presumably covered that same distance at a known speed. He was not just wildly guessing or making things up. The underlying tone of the article is that because these people don't live in New York or Washington, they are unsophisticated bumpkins likely to be having medieval hallucinations. Talk about imagining and believing things that aren't real. A reporter might try investigating why the US military so consistently comes up with belated and conflicting accounts for UFO sightings in a way that truly strains human credibility. Now that would be an interesting story.

C'mon there is no God and Jesus was just a man
A good man. You Bible Belters burning Charles
Darwin books cannot burn the truth. Time to get real.
The Flintstones is a cartoon, man did not exist at the
same time as the dinosaurs. We came to be through
evolution and right now evolution is a real force that is happening
out there in our universe among the billions of galaxy and the trillions
and trillions of stars. The planet earth is nothing more than a grain
of sand on a beach. Get use to it humans, we are slowly wakening up
and realizing we havn't step out of the backyard and we
know ***. There are older star systems and galaxies
and trust me as players in the universe we are not even at peewee
level. When we do get it together and colonize other planets
like Mars. We cannot allow religious people on the ships,
that will *** things up. Who is in agreement.
We want people who are realist to rule the planet. Less chance of things
    blowing up

Man, you really have some anst against the world do you. Your harsh rehtoric is sad. I suppose that if you would allow God into your life, things might seem a bit brighter.

Since you say your are a "realist", what hope do you have for something better after you die? What will you say when the day of reckoning is here and all that you discredited as nonsense turns out to be true? It would be pretty sad to say the least, if not tragic, at the notion that you could have been part of the joyous occasion as opposed to the terror some will feel when the judgment days arrives.

Look, whether you want to accept it or not, the day will COME. It is a matter of what side of the fence do you want to be on when it happens. I would highly recommend finding out right now and doing something about it.

This much I do know, that God LIVES!!!! And Amen for that!!!

Its pretty sad how narrow minded tyler32 is, he says God created us as the most advance being of this world, I think the key point is of this world he missed his own point anyway if we are so advanced way are we destroying each other and this world, which it really does not matter at the rate we are going there won't be much left of this world

Dear Yale Professor....How much were you paid by the government to write this silly attempt at debunking and have it placed on Yahoo?
Do you honestly think everyone has been out riding their bikes for days so that they are sleep deprived like a POW ....and then they see something out of the ordinary?
You sound as stupid as your tone towards the reader.
Do you think everyone who has jumped off the Golden Gate bridge first rode cross country on their bikes too?
Wake up...and when you do lets meet at Cilantros and you can tell a better tale than this weak effort
    for money.

OMG people stop watching TV seriously . As man thinketh he does....there is no exact date when the world will end so stop meddling with the spiritual realm...when this world does end America will be first to go because its the most corrupt, and most arrogant place in this universe..WHY DO YOU PEOPLE FILL YOUR HEAD WITH THIS RUBBISH ??? its your government planning to take over the world..probably!!! THE MIND IS THE MOST POWERFUL TOOL. AND DON'T DOUBT GOD HE EXIST AND IS WATCHING YOU CLOSELY!!!!

    • Posted By: tsfahoum @ 01/26/2008 12:35:08 AM

Why are you so defensive? And why do you feel the need to blanket your statements passing judgement on an entire society based on the egotism that exists in ALL politics.

Part of the article says that there are more sightings during times of Earthquakes. This does not disprove Spaceships. In fact knowing physics, one could surmise this might actually improve the odds they exist.
According to Einstein, when trying to figure out the energy to achieve light speed, he came up with this formula E=MC2. The E = energy, M = mass. C2 is C squared. Which is the speed of light multiplied by itself.
Basically to get an object with mass up to light speed you would have to exert lots of energy. That type of energy is hard to come by. If you had a way to alter how mass is interpreted by normal physics, you could reduce the energy needed to achieve light speed. You could call this a gravity mass altering device.
It is safe to assume that type of device might have an effect on the planets gravitational field and increase the chance of Earthquakes if operated to close to the planet. With ambitious suspended animation technology a race could use this type of light speed engines to achieve travel among the stars.
There also could be space folding technology where the fabric of space is folded from its normal curvature to allow for a short trip made out of a long trip. Perhaps this could also affect the Earths gravitational fields and cause or increase the chance of an Earthquake.

The Government knows that "UFOs" exist, but they pay professional scientist-debunkers hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to deliberately mislead the American People. Another reason I love our wonderful government-- which keeps its citizenry in line through the propagation of fear, ignorance and intimidation...

  • Posted By: harlanquin @ 01/26/2008 12:31:24 AM

Yes, Fallon, it's depressing. Not that it has anything to do with strange sights in the sky, the physics involved, the commonly mistaken objects, or even the human ability to fit square pegs into round holes (see all the hype over the photo of a 'bigfoot' on Mars.)
But yes, the idea that this life is all we get can be depressing. And it requires you to come to grips with the fact that not only is life not fair, it doesn't care. Bad people get away with bad things, and there is no punishment after they die. Good people do good things, and still don't get properly rewarded. Everyone lives their life, makes decisions based on what they believe, and too soon, too late, or just eventually, dies.
Never to be heard from again. Does sound depressing, put up against the idea of an afterlife, doesn't it?
On the other hand, it means you have to be nice to the people that are here now, as you won't have the chance to make up for it later. And you should probably get to know those older relatives pretty soon. Etc.
If that's too much perspective, imagine this. No matter what you do, great or terrible, aproximately one billion Chinese couldn't care less.

As someone who has seen a UFO flying at a low altitude at night, it's glowing orange body with white pulsing lights moving in from the distance and then nearly over my head one September night in 1989, I can tell you this. These flying objects are real and no amount of "psychological explaination" suffices. As they have been viewed over the centuries and in the early 1900's before man had anything more advanced than propeller aircraft, to consider UFOs anything other than alien is rather a head in the sand smugness.

  • Posted By: brelil @ 01/26/2008 12:30:49 AM

Dear Yale Professor....that is about the stupidest set of explanations I have ever read.
Were you paid by the government to write a silly debunking piece to place on Yahoo?
Let's get together at Cilantros and discuss this nonsense.

I'm sorry . Your explaination is lame. You should go to school a little longer. I only have a 10 th grade education and can see better than you. I agree people have a wild imagination but you can't put millions of peoples mind, into one catigorey. You are saying people are to stupid to know what they see. Your full off ***. Go back to school and grow up. I don't mean to sound harsh but you really have a stupid observation on people.
I saw a UFO in the 80's. I was in the back yard and watched it for abot 10 minites before I when into the house to get my mom to make sure I wasn't crazy. But she saw the same thing I did. A few years later I was talking to my boss about it and he stoped me in the middle of my conversation and finished what I was going to tell him. He knew exactley what I was talking about Because he saw the same thing the same time of year but 40 years earlier than I did. He had seen the same shape of an object, It was coming west across the same feild at the exact place as we saw it. And got over the same house and turned south. It sent chill bumps all over me when he told me the end of what was suposed to be my storie. But I lisend to him , He seen it 40 years before I did so It seemed right to just lisen.
You need to go out into nature a little more and observe before you judge. Think before you talk.. I'm sorry but the human population isn't evolutionalised enough to stop fighting with each other. What makes you think this is a time of science. Scientist are just a small step from a monkey's mind in the real world. Have you herd of hell on earth. Sorry to be the one to tell you, but It 's going to be the next 4 years of your life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have been here long before we were. The good ones and the evil ones. Read your bible Its a great history book on the way people saw things in thier times. And the way things are coming to be! The past !

Yeah I thought about it the year 2012. I'm going to get as
many credit cards as possible and max it out.
I'm going to get involve in as many ho-down parties with hos
as possible. If you are interested in joining in the festivities
      let me know

    • Posted By: tsfahoum @ 01/26/2008 12:26:16 AM

I personally don't believe the world will be ending in 2012. I simply believe there will be a shift in consciousness. More and more people will choose to become aware of who they are on a multidemensional level as energy systems. After all, all matter is made up of energy, including us, and energy is neither created nor destroyed, right?

Frankly, I think this is one of most interesting BLOG's I've seen There is so much emotion indicating that people are very concerned whether they think there are such things or not. There are many ways you can feed your enthusiasm, ....Go to www.marsanomolies.com for instance. Main thing is to have fun. If you don't have fun then it's no fun.

I like that: "If you don't have fun then it's not fun." Very philosophical.
