I live in Europe and for the first time in history the American people have the opportunity
To change the way we behave and act towards the rest of the world through Obama. So do not waste your vote give your country the president it deserves and look to the future the
Past is behind us electing past presidential associates will not help they had the chance to change and nothing ever changed.

Obama is not Islamic. The person who wrote that has been watching Fox Noise far too long.

  • Posted By: hansgordy @ 01/19/2008 6:08:49 AM

Excuse me. Obama is not Islamic. It is totally untrue.

I believe that John Edwards is the man that articulates the needs of the people of this country. He speaks to me...even though I am not in need of health care or a higher income. Edwards is a man of passion and compassion. The media pundits call his campaign 'angry.' I call it 'determined.' I realize that Edwards is a long-shot in this race...but I wish that people would take a serious look at what Edwards is saying. The media also gladly calls this a two-person race for the Democrats...brushing aside John Edwards as a serious candidate. I say that it is a mistake. I have great admiration for Barack Obama and his vision. I also respect Hillary Clinton very much. But Edwards is the person that understands the fundamental needs of the people of the United States of America. He made his millions taking on the health industry in a court of law....and some people criticize him as an ambulance chaser...but I say, 'so what?' His experience as an attorney that represented small people against major corporations is one of the elements that we need in a president. Living in California, I choose to vote with an absentee ballot because of the potential for large lines. My son and wife encouraged me to vote for Obama because they feel that a vote for Edwards is really a vote for Clinton. I'm sticking to my choice. My vote is in. John Edwards stands for Democratic philosophies and isn't afraid to say it. He's not the angry candidate. He wants to take on the establishment. Hillary is in bed with corporations. I don't believe that Obama has the passion for getting to the fundamental changes that are needed. People need living incomes with benefits. Unions need to come back. Reagan destroyed unions in this country...and that is when the major exodus of corporations really began. The large corporations that have left this country haven't left because they're not making money. They've left because instead of making 300 million a year...they want to make a billion. Edwards knows this...and he intends to affect some real change in this area. Edwards was asked on a talk show about the problems with poor people in the country...and he was very compassionate, saying that it is a huge problem. But he said that the larger problem is the 'working poor.' People who work at stores like Wal-Mart and other large outlets have little to no benefits. They're wages are horrible. These are not living wages or careers. Edwards gets it...and he plans to encourage corporations to stay...and to reward those who do. He plans to change some laws that will allow for the return of collective bargaining. Edwards is the candidate of the common man. Obama and Clinton are not.

I, as an African-American, am very proud of the people of Iowa and many of the people in New Hampshire who dont see race as the first issue of the campaign. When I am in communication with my foreign counterparts I heap praise on my lovely new America. It is refreshing news all around the world. Particularly, at a time when so much disappointing news seems to be the norm. This race issue in the democratic campaign has nothing to do you great folks and people like you.

However, it is very clear that it is the Clintons who are a force that is blocking real change for which the Party was created and that American needs. I don't suggest that Obama get the nomination based on race. My people are not foolish but rather that it is sinisterly odd how the Clintons can categorize him as not fit to be president. It is shameful how African-Americans have adored the Party, the Clintons in particular, and yet be mistreated by them at this critical moment.

No group, in terms of votes, can boast the support that we have given to the party and yet the Clintons have shown no loyalty or respect to a viable man we put forth to benefit, not blacks, but America. Rather than the Clintons being reflective of the relationship between black America-themselves-and the party, they go on a rampage to soil a chance for a real change within our party and within our world. Greed, trickery, race-baiting, gender-baiting, croc tears, document-sealing and insinserity are all on the table for the Clintons. That is all we got for our loyalty and I now seriously dislike them.

Obama is a good man who can take us away from the shoot-from-the-hip foreign policy non-sense that keeps America from beautifying itself and the world. For personal interests the Clintons want to soil our gift to change. I will never forgive the Clintons. She will not carry my support or the support of many of my demographic even if she won the nomination and tried to offer Obama the V.P. position. Now we see the Clintons for who they really are.

This race issue is real, but it is not about America this time. It is about those greedy Clintons, already living the great American dream, but coming back for more and more. Why can't others live the dream? How is this change? How does she respresent change? She is nothing more than a cross between George Bush and Margaret Thatcher. That is not change. That is not the Democratic party and that is nothing more than shame.

Hillary Clinton does NOT have the most experience to be President and the Media has erroneously excepted her self-proclamation that she is as such. 8 years as First Lady is not justifyable experience. Hillary Clinton is just barely in her SECOND term as a United States Senator. She has served in no other elected offices in the Unites States Government. Barack Obama has served 4 years in the United States Senate and 11 years in the Illinois States Legislature... and if my math is correct, Obama has nearlt twice the time in legislative offices. Why is he experience in the State Legislative Body not as relevant has her experience as Wife to a President? I am baffled. It boot, Obama graduated at the Top of his class at Havard Law School. By-passed a 6-digit figure salary to teach Constitutional Law at the #2 Law School in the Nation. The country would have been better served if many of the so-called "experienced" Politicians would have taken his class. Obama knows how to bring people together. He proved that by taking a challenge on the South Side of Chicago, leading an economically challenged community, directly helping layed-off steel workers and addressing crime in the trenches. I would love to see Hillary on the South Side in the Ghettos dealing with real people and real problems. OBAMA is a leader... Hillary is a Manager. Obama should be the President and Hillary should be the Vice President. That's the ticket Americans are Hungry for... and that's what the Democratic Party needs to deliver to America.

I believe the nomination will be decided by black woman. Some will vote Obama because he,s Black - some will would Hillery because she is a woman. I hope Im wrong by thinking many voters are that shallow , there are way too many important issues to base our future on thinking like this

  • Posted By: terripin99 @ 01/19/2008 5:16:21 AM

Why do I think this nomination will come down to _ if Black women relate more to >
Hillary as a woman or >
    Obama as Black
God ,I hope voters arent that shallow, there are way to many important issues for basing a decision and our future on thinking like that

I have been a democrat all my life and I am 72 years old.. if Obama wins I will become a republican and vote for one. if Clinton wins I will vote a straight democrat ticket. simple as that. Obama will futher devide the country like its never been devided before.

How can someone who is manufactured and supported (financially and politically) by the liberals and far left unite a divided country? How can someone from the Democratic Party publicly slams Bill Clinton by comparing him unfavourably with Republicans unite the country? How can someone who distanced himself from the Jena 5 protest march be an advocate of civil rights? (He should have walked the talk, led the march and given an inspiring speech) How can someone who votes ???present??? about 130 times be a commander in chief? How can someone who shows contemptuous snide towards a former first lady for her ???likeability??? factor or lack of it be a ???nice??? and likeable person? How can someone who just talks and talks and talks about vision and change without elaboration or show any substance be an inspiring visionary? How can someone who expects his staff to pick up after him be a good boss? How can someone who writes about his own wayward youthful days and not expect it to be fair game? (Hmm, me thinks it was a very devious calculating move on the offence ) How can someone who turns against the lady whom he used to seek political mentorship advice be worshipped as the agent of purity and integrity?
A blogger has written that Obama is the liberals??? and far left???s Great White Hope, who gives them a superior smug feel good feeling that they have done the right thing. In the midst of the rhetoric of change, hope and faith and the hype engineered by the media, many will be blinded and deafened by the glare, glamour, hype and cacophony. At the end of the day, it is up to Americans to decide if they will be swayed by the media or they will rationalize their decision.

    • Posted By: Twhit1007 @ 01/19/2008 5:11:36 AM

Since you ask soooo many questions here are your answers:
Because it took a manufactured and financially supported conservative...ahem...Bush...to divide the country. So wouldn't it make since that a liberal would have a better chance of uniting the country..or were you just speaking of YOUR country?
I won't answer your next question due to grammatical error.
Obama did not in fact distance himself from the Jena 6 and actually condemned it. It wasn't his march to lead.
I am assuming the present votes you speak of were from his days in the Illinois legislature. These votes were a tactic deployed by a large group of Democrats who refused to play politics by Republican rules. The present votes were meant to defeat legislation without casting a 'no' vote and having the Republicans attack them. Oh and by the way- a commander in chief doesn't have to vote for anything.
Contemptuous snide? He has always been civil and respectful to Clinton.
All talk and no elaboration huh? Yeah thats how the right-wing smeared Kerry. His views are quite clear on every issue he is asked about. You want to know where he stands on the issues? Do some research and don't rely on the corporate media to feed it to you.
Who said that his staff picks up after him? And if you are that picky about a candidate then you are destined to be disappointed.
Who said his drug use wasn't fair game? It has nothing to do with the election and his opponents know that if they were to attack him directly about it, it would make them look petty. Besides Clinton just sits back and has others do it for her. (by the way you spelled offense with a 'c'. Stay out of our politics you brit!)
Since when is running against deemed to be turning against?
Yeah this was all engineered by the corporate owned media...hes the last person they want in the white house. The reason he was 'hyped' in the media was because he won unexpectedly against an over-hyped Clinton.
I hope American do use rational thought when electing their next president because they sure as heck didn't when the elected the last one.

I did not know it untill know that hillary is an evil person who has portrayed herself to the black community as one you can trust. Hillary is a racist and has told many lies and engaged in the race card.

If she gets the democratic nomination I will do all I can to sway black voters away from her. Hillary is a racist of the worst kind and that is she pretends to be on yourside and then in private she makes racist remarks. She claims to have years of experience when in fact she has no more years of experience than Obama. Fact that she was the first lady for 8 years does not count as for as experience is concern and I wish the media would call her on this.

Clintons has rigged votes and paid people to vote for them, how much more underhanded can you be?
DO NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY! I am a democrat and if it is hillary against the GOP I will stay home and not vote.

  • Posted By: vietnamvet2 @ 01/19/2008 5:00:41 AM

If Clinton whom I supported Bill Clinton during his run for office, if his wife gets the nomination whom I feel she has dedeived many blacks and she is an evil person, I will switch and vote for a republican. Then I will pray that she does not win one state.

I did not know it untill know that these clintons will do anything to try and win and she has shown that she is a racist. I would that bill would have said she misspoken about Obama instead of making an excuse for her. I will do my best in the little circle of friends I have to not let this lady near the white house, Clinton has told many lies and to many she is worse than the neocons.

Sometimes it's hard for US as VOTERS to decide, especially when we encounter new/ "inexperienced" presidential candidates previously unknown to us.

It behooves each of us to find out for OURSELVES, rather than base our choices on sound bites, biased articles, 30-second ads.

To do that, I invite you all to browse thru this well-written, well-researched article:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_obama
pay attention to what's been done during his years in the Senate, where he had worked with McCain, and other republicans, across the "Divide". Impressive stuff. Am proud!

    Contrast that page with this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillary_clinton
again, with attention paid to what was done during her years in the Senate.

The difference is very clear to me. Day and Night. No more bull-***! My choice has become much easier.

Whoever wrote this - Comment: Obama is Islamic !!!!!!!! He doesn't salute our flag and walks line with Christian beliefs for election purposes only. WAKE UP AMERICA - background check the facts on him !!!!! Vote for ANYONE BUT HIM ! GOD BLESS AMERICA - is one of the poor, sad, uneducated, ill-informed people that so unhappily seem to be becoming more and a more a majority of the population of our country. Obama is a Christian. He went to Christian and Catholic schools when he was a child. His father, who is/was a Muslim, was gone when Obama was a baby and had no influence on him...it was his American mother who raised him. This is the sort of vicious and completely cynical lying that is put out to appeal to those who do not take the time to check facts. Please do not vote for anyone if you are not competent to think and learn for yourself.

Clinton has taken on the republicans for years and keeps winning. They have thrown everything they could at her and she is still the Best canidate in the race.
She can win and has republicans scared that she will. Republicans however love the notion of facing a man with a troubled past and drug history who has not even a full single year of office experence and if were not careful and Elect the only Democrat who can win in Clinton then we will be forced to sit and watch the republican machine tear down a crackhead with no experience.
Crackheads should not be even on the Ticket. Obama is a Crack head just goggle it He admits it.
    Clinton in 2008

You obviously have tasted crack before. Hilliary Clinton has only been elected to 1 office-- that is the Senate. SHE has not taken on anyone but her cheating husband. She is in the senate because New Yorkers felt sorry for her.
By the way IDIOT-- Obama never had a "drug" problem.... read-- if you can..... Clinton will not be elected the Republicans want her on the ticket-- relive impeachment and her baby-- Whitewater

Adressing some of the previous posts. Realityforyou, Crackhead hater and Nobama. First to adress Realityforyou, you had some good points there, but i think America should always focus on electing the best equipped candidate for the presidency rather than their race donnt you think? Crackhead hater, you call Obama a crackhead and attack his past drug use. Well for one, we are humans and i am sure you have made some pooe judgements in your lifetime before. And if Obama is a crackhead, that should make Bill Clinton a pothead then because he did admit smoking Marijuana during his youth but he claims not to have inhaled.....right. God knows how many skeletons some of these other candidates have in their closets, it takes a man to admit his mistakes. And Finally Nobama, if Obama is unreal how did he make it this far? I am an Illinois resident and Obama has made some considerable change in the time he has been in office. People need to stop being ignorant and realize that this country needs to change. A lot of you complain that words dont do anything.....words can motivate people into striving for change and improving themselves. I think every candidate for the presidency is relying on words to get them to the White House. They can only tell us what they plan on doing in the future. America has to Unite at a time like this, this country is falling real fast.

"Hillary's refusal to say whether Obama is prepared to be president". Hillary has been asked a few times if Obama is prepared to be president and she refuses to answer, (???that???s for the voters to decide). Bill goes further and says he is not. But the key is when she was asked if she would support the Democratic candidate she said yes (more than once). So IF she is telling the truth that Obama isn't prepared/qualified and Bill is telling the truth then how can she support Obama should he be the Democratic candidate? Hillary is practicing scorched-earth politics. My Republican friends always hated the Clintons saying crazy things about them like they will do anything and they are evil. I always thought my Republican friends had odd behavior when it came to their distrust/hatred of the Clintons. Now I???m not sure. Hillary will do/say anything to get elected and I will NOT vote for her. I never voted for a Republican but will in this election if she is the candidate.
