Niether Obama nor Clinton, can win a National Election. The Republicans Know it, The Media knows it, and the Democrats are proving once again, why their mascot is a JackAss. I left the GOP, when it became a "Coporate Bully". Now a Democrat, I will vote for anybody that runs against those two. I hope I'm not alone.

I believe both candidates Clinton and Obama could lead this country and restore our prominance in the world better the Bush. I voted for Bill when he ran and was proud of what he done for our nation. However, Hillary and Bill are two different people. She has not convinced me where I have been able to build any confidence in her as I did in her husband. Obama communicates and affects reponse from the people and displays the leadership traits to lead, motivates, and influences others to achieve success. A good leader inspires good managers.

As a middle class father of two, I have seen the cost of health care triple , the cost of gas and heating oil triple and the cost of educating my children triple. Im not voting for inspiration, Im voting for who I believe can provide tangible results , and im my opinion , the best chance of making these results happening is voting for Hillary Clinton. I dont have to like her, I have to vote for who I believe gives me the best chance to provide an opportunity for the American dream to my children. Liking someone is more of a criteria for voting on American Idol.

While I appreciate the genuine sentiment, I disagree totally with the premise. I think that to improve "things" in this country, we have got to change our ways. United we stand, right? Hillary Clinton, I'm afraid, will not be able to move beyond the partisan culture. I certainly don't think Barack Obama will wave a magic wand or anything, but at least he has a fighting chance.

It's almost a "no brainer". Compare the work in the Senate done by Clinton, Edwards, and Obama. See which one really worked as a Senator and has accomplished a great deal by working with people from both sides of the aisle. Republicans are filthy campaigners - they will bring the "Swift Boat" clones to do their work no matter who the Democrats select. They even canibalize their own - McCain still getting the treatment in S.C. So don't fall for the "which one can unify the country" bit. No politician is going to be able to do that, but with a likely huge Democrat win in the Congress, any of these Democrats should be able to be effective. Which one will have the knowledge of how to use that office to bring about the changes that we desperately need? I leave that to you.

By not being close to the political center, Obama's talk of uniting the country is just empty talk.

Seven years ago, America elected to the White House a Washington outsider experienced in neither national nor international politics. He has, since then, brought us many changes. Now Obama is promising the same and could bring the same if he got elected. I have no desire to be experimented on again. He is inspirational. But I tremble when I feel inspired by him because I know he has a thin resume. Inspirations and promises have to be backed up by past accomplishments. He is essentially asking for a promotion to the White House. Would your boss promote you based on your lack of experience and accomplishments?

    On Nobama's comment.
Obama is the only one with real substance. In the debates Hillary rattles off her campaign talking points, avoiding to answer most of the questions directly because they do fit her programmed responses. Edwards is better but still relies upon the same lines . THe stuttering you mention is actually something thinking of a unique and thoughtful reply. The guy is an intellectual, head of Harvard Law Review and such. Real thinkers don't spout out something in 30 second snippets. It takes them a bit longer to actually consider the qyestion and give a reasoned answer. That you don't recognize this or understand who has true substance says more about you than Obama.

When it comes to unity, Obama can not only unite America, he can reduce the polarization developing between peoples and nations at the Global level. Hillary, as somebody who has time and again voted for essentially Republican, George Bush foreign policy will be viewed by the rest of the world as part of the problem, not the solution. Obama will at least offer America a fresh start in the comity of nations

As a Richardson supperter I've been looking closely at the other candidates to see which one I might support. From my perspective I see that the Clinton campaign is the one on the attack every day. They intentionally misquote or misinterpret Obama and the lash out at just about everything they can. So it appears to me the answer to your column is simple. Edwards or Obama can easily unit the Democratic party because they haven't undertaken to divide it. The so-called "racially-based" Obama campaign to which you refer was an invention of Hillary's gang in an attempt to marginal Obama. So all that needs to be done is to nominate Obama or Edwards and any difficulties will take care of themselves. THe only divisive candidate is Hillary Clinton and if we nominate her we deserve the consequences.

As a Richardson supporter I'm now looking to the other candidates. It appears to me the only one who might not be able to unite the Democratic Party is Hillary. She has constantly attacked Obama and it is her staff that has attempted to marginalize Obama into the role of a racial-based candidate. Obama or Edwards should have no difficulty in bringing people together as they haven't been attacking people every day. So the answer to your column's question is obvious. There';s no problem unless we nominate Hillary Clinton. If we do, then we deserve the consequences.

Does the main stream media want to absorb itself from their anti Hillary campaign? Have they all jumped into the band wagon of Shawn hannity stop hillary campaign? When a lady asked John McCain " How do we stop the ***" at his campaign, I did not hear the main stream media jump on McCain for walking away and not chastising the woman for using such ugly word on another woman. This whole campaign has turned into a charrade rather than on issues. May God help America from having another buddy that we can drink beer with but who will watch while our citizen languish in the flood of a hurricane. Wake up Press and give us the news not your opinion. You all have one vote as individuals. So the power still lies with us who can see through your charrade.

  • Posted By: Nobama @ 01/19/2008 2:48:46 AM

Unreal. Continued bias by the press. Obama has nothing to contribute but the press just won't let him go. Charm, eloquence only when he is prepared, is nothing more than an illusion. Watch him debate, he stutters until he can return to the rhetoric of his speeches that he has rehearsed. Empty suit.

  • Posted By: hotshark @ 01/19/2008 2:39:27 AM

Why so little reference to John Edwards. He is in the race and is definately leading the debates. He is getting short shrift from the media, and that is not fair. You guys will have mud on your face if he doesn't just fade away, which seems to be more by the design of the media coverage than any lack of substance on his part. The lack of coverage that Sen. Edwards is getting reflects very poorly on the media and pundits in general.

(cont'd)How dare you challenge a Harvard trained self made man that has worked hard, been committed to his family, education and to the community. How dare you say that "he can talk good" but what can he do? He can graduate from Law School--Harvard, head the Harvard Law Review, work in the trenches and become a US Senator--- who by the way happens to be Black. He is not an entertainer as these racist remarks coyly insinuate--- "he sure can talk....but".... C'mon-- as a Black man in America who has overcome challenges and still not become bitter, has opened his arms and inner circle to a rainbow of colors--he can unite. I love the fact that Obama is not wearing a banner that says look I am Black and you should vote for me vs. hey I am an American that is living the American dream and you too can grab it and we must assure that your can grab it. By the way I am a husband, a father, a friend, a Senator, a God fearing man oh yes and I have a White Mother and Black father. Can he unite us--I dare say yes and I will be glad to give him a shot. Is America ready for a refreshing Pres. that has been upfront and honest? Is America ready for a man that is not a politician but rather an American that loves America and thus entered politics? Is America ready for a politician that will not get in the trenches of dirt and mud slinging and take the higher ground? Is America ready for Change, Hope and to Dare to Dream? I sure hope so-- I am voting for Barack Obama, my husband is as well as both sets of our parents. We are middle aged WHITE Americans that Live in the South.

Very well said.....I could hardlly have stated the case for Barak Obama better. We need to give this guy a chance to inspire this country and turn around this country.

This article should have been listed with the opinions. When writing article for the internet or a newspaper, one should write unbaised. Personally I could care less about race or gender. I think people should look at are the qualifications of each candidate. Also one should look to their past, because past influences the future. I'm not saying they haven't evolved, changed, ect. We should also look to policies, ideals, and what plans they have for our country. That being said, i feel that Clinton would be the best candidate, but that's just my opinion. I feel that Obama, although charming, has some things from his past I don't care for. I've heard about the drug usage, and i believe that for him to have gotten this far in life, has put that behind him. But there are other thing that worry me. For example, one of the schools he attended. I'm not going into detail here, but you can read about it just about anywhere. But as I have said, this is MY opinion, but i think that no matter who you are rooting for, you should check out all you can about each candidate. BTW.. I haven't ruled out any of the others in running, but at this point, Clinton seems to be our best bet.

It will be a sad day in the Democratic Party should Clinton get the nomination. I am gald that Obama has stayed on the high ground. The Republicans don't have to worry if she gets the nomination because I think that many like me would vote Republican as the lesser of two evils. Who in the hell does she think she is just because she has served in the Senate and has been the first lady WELL to me those are not good qualifications for being President. Hell, while she was first lady she could't even secure her marraige and if elected she wants to provide security for the nation. Hell NO !!!!! Maybe she just wants pay back to Bill.

  • Posted By: Drewster @ 01/19/2008 1:27:08 AM

What irritates me about Clinton is her insisting that this race is not about gender. Hello? Anyone remember constantly hearing, "I'm your gal/girl' in her speeches. Then she went on Meet The Press and said something to the effect that she does not want this race to be about gender and CERTAINLY (emphasizing that word) hope that it won't be about race...as if one is better or worse than the other! , '

The issues that face this nation are so much bigger than Hilliary or Obama-- there is a time when a generation must fundamentally stand up and make a conscious effort to welcome a new day. I am sick of the Bushes and the Clintons-- the experience question is a stupid question. On the issue of experience---WHY is the media not asking the questions? Hilliiary has experience at being FIRST LADY and later in the Senate. She won the Senate seat because of her popularity of her husband and as a door prize for having been humiliated by the impeachment. This does not mean that she is not smart and aggressive but let's be real--- she was FIRST LADY of the US and Arkansas. She has no foreign policy experience, never had top level security clearance and the one area that she had free reign of was on a fiasco of a healthcare plan.

On the issue of race---Bill Clinton is a WHITE man-- the stupidity of Black people saying that he was the first black president is just that stupidity. If the truth is examined you will see the President that had the most diverse cabinet is the current President-- George Bush. They have now shown Black American, Hispanic Americans one clear thing-- we love you when you are with us but the moment you try to challenge us we will try to kill you. It is about them and I voted for Bill x 2 and now am appalled by his egocentric, self serving attitude. The attitude is "How Dare Anyone--challenge us. We are the heir apparent!" Well, let's see what happens.

Clinton without a doubt has a great resume, however, republicans hate her. Obama not only has the ability to listen to those who disagree with him, he also has the talent and humility to meet them on common ground. That's what our country desperately needs. I'm so sick of the 'right and left wing conspiracies'. As for his drug use...at least he's man enough to be open and honest about his past instead of trying to spin it. I respect honesty and Lord knows we need more of it in the White House. Try to imagine for a moment having a leader who actually represents all of us. Imagine not waisting millions of taxpayer dollars investigating blow jobs, whitewater, and all of the other ugly stupid issues just to make political opponents look bad. Unfortunately, our very public political bickering over the past 16 years harmed our country tremendously because it has prevented progress. At this point we need forward progress. We need Barack Obama!!

Honestly The best thing that can happen is Clinton is the President , Obama is The Vice president. There are many grunt work issues that need to be done immediately and Hillary will be relentless in banging the heads of corporate oil and the drug companies . Bottom line when the last Clinton Admininstration was in office , we had money in our pockets , and if we start moving more Americans near the poverty level, no one will unite us. After Hillary rips a few new ones in corporate America , Obama could be the following President , only now more experienced, and with not such a daunting task of cleaning up 8 years of George Bush. First Hillary needs to put this country back in order , Then Obama would have an opportunity to return it to greatness. But if Obama is elected now , and is stonewalled by corporate America , we could be looking at a Republican President in 2012. But if we do Hillary first , Obama second , we may have a run of great presidents for the next 16 years.
