For the record, has Bill pledged not to disgrace the Hillary White House? And as she couldn't persuade him to behave when he was president, is there any hope for improvement when he is First-Guy-With-Nothing-To-Do-Most-Of-The-Time?

  • Posted By: hillaryfan @ 01/21/2008 1:23:24 PM

Bill Clinton is an asset to his wife's campaign, and Sen. Kennedy and Rep. Emmanuel have no right to tell him not to speak out. Where were they when Sens. Obama and Edwards were "double teaming" Sen. Clinton for months in the debates and in the press? Does Obama have a glass jaw? Sooner or later he's going to have to stop whining and asking for mercy. He certainly won't get any from the Republicans!

    • Posted By: Kellyville @ 01/21/2008 3:26:23 PM

Who's whining? Who's 'tearing up'? Who's threatening to sue? Who indeed!

    • Posted By: maskddingo @ 01/21/2008 1:41:39 PM

I have not Heard Mr. Obama "whine" once. He has handled the unscrupulous attacks and besmirching of his character with great aplomb, and with the dignity befitting of a TRUE LEADER. It is precisely his very ability to simply NOT whine and lash out in kind that has convinced me, and many others, he is THE man to lead our country back to greatness. Hillary, the Clinton's in general, have shown a great ability to be divisive and simply not care... This is just more of the same old crap. I want change I want it now I want a true LEADER.. not this inane, 'high school-ish', bickering started, and perpetuated by the Clintons. Just look around the forum for a second to see that life long democrats are being so turned off by the clintons BS that they are pledging to NEVER vote for Hillary. Her nomination virtual assures the republicans a really good chance at the white house again, when they shouldn't have a shot in hell after the guy who is in there now..

An asset to the campaign, maybe, but to a campaign that is willing to damage everything is sight for a win, which might be a hollow one in November, is they turn of enough of us... This is damaging the party, and that is why party elders (GORE? Kennedy) should step in, but the Clintons make it clear that that was never the conceren in the first place. These power-hungry people sacre me! What tantrum will we see this week from Bill? It will probably be somehwere mid-week, with a 'female" address by HRC on Friday. Can we not show them we deserve better???

I think that Bill needs ti shut up. I agree that we have had enough of the Clinton's in the White House. Too bad we didn't realize that before we put a 2nd Bush in the office and for 2 terms at that. What is wrong with people? Although I still have some reservations about Obama's church and their teachings I would like to hear more about it from him.

As a long time Democrat, I have always admired Bill Clinton for being a great politician, but lately I am totally disgusted with his performance in the 2008 campaign. He is acting like a lowlife street fighter rather than an ex-president. It is frightening that he could once again be in the White House and be uncontrollable. If Hillary's managers think he is helping her they are so wrong. He is a total turn-off. He is also going to divide the Democratic party and make it possible for the Republicans to take the White House again.....what a frightening thought!! Please, Mr. President, simmer down and let your wife do her own thing.

    • Posted By: mda56 @ 01/21/2008 3:20:08 PM

A more frightening thought would be a Clinton in the White House! I believe that the democrats would give anything to be rid of the Clintons. Politics is a nasty business, but I believe the Clintons lowered the bar dramatically.

I think Barack Hussiem Obama started the fight with comments about race/gender and twisting the facts. Bill and Hillary has done a lot of work and things for all races in the U.S. They have been gracious about the whole mess. Barack will not salute our flag or wear the flag pin. I don't apporeciate the fact that he would say bad things about any U.S. president. I hope and pray Hillary wins the office for President. She is smart, strong and willing to listen to our problems. As did Bill when he was president.

Bill was impeached. Did you know that big secret.

      • Posted By: Carthage @ 01/21/2008 3:00:34 PM

What planet were you on during the Clinton era? Did you knwo Bill was convicted of perjury and disbarred? Are you aware that we got Ginrich and lost an entire part of the party because Bill's "triangulations"? Are you aware of the manner in which Sen. Clinton conducted her health care taks force? Are you aware of the Clinton paranoia of outsiders, shown claerly right when they came into the WH, as expressed in travelgate? What facts are you basing your opionion on? For example, did you know that Sen. Clinton did not read the 94-pages national intelligance estimate that cast grave doubt on the wisdom of her war vote, while she knew no one on her staff had the clearance to see this? Did you see the false flyers the Clinton campaign distributed in New Hampshire? Are you aware what damage this scorched-earth campaign is causing to the party. Are you aware how many democrats, growing by the day, will be unable to stand behind Clinton(s) because of the shameless way they show us how power-hungry they are?

      • Posted By: cbullcom @ 01/21/2008 2:36:50 PM

Another ingnorant perosn who is not objective and believes everything he reads. It's been said George Bush don't like black people, I'm black and I don't believe that. You are probably middle age or old and you live in a mental box.

This goes beyond Bill Clinton hurting his own credibility--he's harming the Democratic Party as a whole. Even if his denigrating comments about Senator Obama are inappropriate and shortsighted; his support of the Nevada lawsuit is shameful.

The blowhard, Bill Clinton, will not shut up because he believes that HE is running for the WH. Hillary is nothing more than his way of reclaiming what he believes to be rightfully his. Her as president will be the funniest (saddest?) thing possible. I believe she is completely ill equipped to be POTUS and that he will be the one running the show. Things have changed drastically since the 90's and his time was up in 2000. Please spare us the galvanization he/she will bring to this country.

I used to adore Bill Clinton. Now because of his inappropriate attacks on Barak Obama and their obvious feelings of entitlement to power I find myself repulsed by both he and Hillary. If she wins the nomination then this democrat will be voting republican for the first time since 1980.

    Texas Democrat

Don't know if the first took. Basically this is where all of my family and friends are. My parents have given to every democratic cause, even jeffords campaign when he went independent. I worked on Clinton's in 96 and voted for the first time for him in 92. After witnessing how the Clintons have no regard for the party but just to themselves, if Hillary wins, its a message to me that the party has left me and I'll become officially independent. I am amongst a number of working professionals, that grew up in life long democratic families that will no longer be a part of the party if she wins. Point blank, they are destroying the party. Start the Bloomberg/Obama campaign!

    • Posted By: BThompson404 @ 01/21/2008 1:36:39 PM

Likewise I campaigned for Clinton in College in 1996, In 1992 I cast my first vote for him. Stood by the Clintons during whitewater, Travelgate, Monica, Vince Foster, Ron Brown and etc. But now, I realize that they are just two people set on manipulating emotions, fear and power to promote themselves. Not only am I not voting for Hillary if she were to win the primary, but it will let me know for certain that I am in the wrong party. The ideal would be a Bloomberg/Obama ticket, if not I'll be going with McCain.

      • Posted By: LeeFromVA @ 01/21/2008 1:44:55 PM

My thougts exactly. The common, old school philosophy is that the Clintons can smooth things over once she wins the nomination, well it won't work this time. You can't destroy our dream and still get our vote. I will NEVER vote for her. Both Bloomberg or McCain would come ahead of her. And you're right, if that's the direction the Dems want to go, I will switch parties.

    • Posted By: Carthage @ 01/21/2008 1:21:05 PM

Ditto. As a life-long democrate, I will stay home if HRC is on the ballot. This power-hungry couple scares me and their scorched-earth campaign only harms the party. I never thought I would find myself in this position, esp. at this important time, and with the Supreme Court at stake during the next administration.

      • Posted By: LeeFromVA @ 01/21/2008 1:39:04 PM

I also agree. I would stay home or vote for Mike Bloomberg. Does Bill think we're ignorant? We can look at Obama's transcript and see exactly what he said. Bill Clinton is simply lying. Common, old school wisdom says it won't matter after HRC wins the nomination they can smooth things over. I don't think it will work this time. You can't kill our dreams and get our vote. It won't happen.

Everytime I hear Bill Clinton campaign for Hillary, it always starts or ends with his presidency, His experiences etc.... Who's running here? Bill or Hillary? If this is the strategy Hillary campaign has
taken than by God, Ieven her own people don't beleive she has what it takes.

  • Posted By: intelgrl56 @ 01/21/2008 2:22:15 PM

If Bill Clinton is a loose cannon right now, just think what he will be in the White House as a First Man. He won't be able to help himself since he loves the spot-light and will jeopardize Hillary's work as President. Whether by injecting himself in cabinet meetings or having sexual adventures in their private apartments while Hillary is away on official duty, any way you look at it, this is a bad mix for America and Democrats had better start waking up to that fact NOW!!

Does it matter when Lefty's dicuss veracity?
In the world of Socialist, feel good is first, truth and integrity a distant third.

I certainly understand a man wanting to do all he can to help the woman he loves, but it's almost as though he is so anxious to get back to the White House to clean up his own legacy somehow. I love Bill and voted for him twice, but I hate to see him behaving this way. He should try to tone it down and save his ire for the Republicans, no matter who is nominated.

    • Posted By: aj181 @ 01/21/2008 2:09:48 PM

It's funny how none of the politicians has brought up the fact that Clinton was impeached. It has been such a big secret. And to think that we should vote for Hillary to give Clinton another chance to be in the white house again is bazzar/crazy as heck.

Sen Clinton is right to support his wife's campaign, and his comments have been pretty mild given current campaign standards. Where were Sen. Kennedy and Rep. Emmanuel when Sen. Obama and Sen Edwards were "double teaming" Sen. Clinton over the past several months? Does Obama have a glass jaw? If he can't take the heat he should stop whining and asking for mercy and get out of the kitchen. Hillary has proven that she can take it and will make a great president!

As a whit male republican supporting Barak obama with my vote and money , I am not suprised by the teflon coating of Bill Clinton . I would point out that my sister worked in the World Trade Center when the terrorists first tried to blow it up. It was during the Clinton years when our intelligence agencies wee being hampered. Most of the planning for the real 911 happened during his watch . The country was so wrapped up in the whole impeachment fiasco they failed to pay attention to our ineptitude in foreign policy. Our 911 report was not kind to Bill Clinton. He is going to divide the democratic party as a serogate for Hilliary. She can stand on her own feet and he can do what the other spouses are doing outside the limelight of the press. GMA this morning showed clips of his skewering the facts. Obama is correct. The senators cant tell him what to do , but they are seeing the election slipping awayto the republicans as Bill continues his tirades and aAHilliary will not or can not control him. Maybe I should not have ventured out of my comfort zone in the hopes that someone from across the aisle might want to talk and compromise on the many serious issues we face as a country. Now you are seeing what we have seen in the Clintons. I am sorry , but you cant go back the times are a changing as the song goes.

How can anyone expect the former leader of the free world to restrain his attacks on his wife's opponents? Senator Clinton was herself a nearly rabid defender of her husband's career, even when she ended up looking like an idiot. Only Sen. Clinton can demand anything from Pres. Clinton, and expect compliance. If her husband's "assistance" begins to seriously jeopardize her campaign, she probably will.

  • Posted By: aquariusrizing @ 01/21/2008 1:44:34 PM

How you gonna keep him down on the farm, after he's seen Pari? Either she is running her campaign, or she isn't. Either he's making these comments with her blessings, or he's a loose cannon, either way, it's her responsibility.
