I was beginning to wondering how long the the Elder Statemen or some of the high profile Democrats were going to sit back and let the Clintons keep this relentless attack up on Senator Obama. The Clintons started the issue of race in this Campaign, and yet everyone seems to want to put it in the Obama Campaign. The Democrats are beginning to look very foolish in Clinton out there as an attack dog in the mischaracterizations of Sentor Obama.

I doubt Bill will listen to private advise - even public 'humiliation' might not stop him - then he's back in his "victim of consipracy'mode - so it will need to be public, big endorsements. where is Gore, Where is Kennedy???

The article says "even if some of those doubts are distortions" Meaning lies. Nothing new about Bill Clinton lying however it has got to hurt both Hillary and Bill to keep reminding us. Bill is often times viewed as the consumate politician. Considering how much politicians lie I guess this is a fitting description.

I agree with George Will's comment: "Speaking of the boomers' inexhaustible fascination with themselves, Bill Clinton has transformed his wife's campaign into his narcissism tour. As the New York Times dryly described a New Hampshire appearance the day after her Iowa rejection: "He talked about his administration, his foundation work and some about his wife.""

However, it talks only about tactical campaigning. There is something of more concern.

Running to redeem a father and now, a husband, is a story worth writing.
Much has been written about George W running to redeem his father's "failure" to "go to Bagdad".
Some has been written this time around about Senator Dodd running to redeem his father's failure-ethical lapses- and Governor Romney running to redeem his father's failure-his brainwashing comments.
The press has been nibbling around the edges of Hillary running to redeem Bill and herself. That story, however, is the most intriguing of the bunch.

In addition, an article written about all of these "redemption" runs would probably convince us that voters should never vote for a presidential candidate who is related to a president or presidential candidate. I think with just my information it is fair to say that redemption runs lead to poor judgment in the political decisions of a campaign and in presidential decisions, clouding both. An experienced political writer or writers would be able to fully research and present clearly the results of that research.

I think that Hillary Clinton would still be leading if Bill Clinton had been kept in the background. What I am seeing and what I believe the press is starting to report is that Hillary's race is all about Bill redeeming Bill and Bill's legacy and Hillary redeeming Bill, Bill's legacy, and Hillary's legacy. Obama and Edwards have been clearly stating for a long time that their presidential race is about America or about the middle class or about the other America, not about them. Hillary in NH is just starting to say that her race is not about her. But she just said that the race for her is very personal, suggesting policy but in reality much more telling.

It becomes very clear that it is about Bill - even HRC's win or lose will be about Bill - he/they are willing to go to any length, at any cost to hang on to the power, while playing victims?! Look at the damage they are causing to the party and the causes the party supports: the pro-choice movement in NH is ripped apart by the maneuver to falsify Se. O's record. Emily's list is used and an arm of her campaign, using it's limited resources in a race where the "opponent" is on the same side of the issue! They are willing to exploit any racial undercurrent (black-white, Latino-black) as well as any other divide (old-young, male-female)... ANYTHING for their personal agenda, no matter the cost to the party.... The indepent voters (as well as an increasingly large number of life-long dems) are seeing this, and will stay home or flock to Mccain. I never thought I'd find myself in this position as a life-long dem, but there is NO WAY I will ever cast a vote for a Clinton again. Rove smiles.....

I have heard that in the older generation of people that temper outbursts can be symptomatic of Alzheimer's disease.
How old is ex-president Clinton now?

There is more than one unifying issue. Illegal immigration, the economy (tax cuts), and energy independence. We need to drill oil in Alaska pronto to bring down the price of gasoline and boost the economy with very well paying jobs.

Clinton's most significant failings as President concerned less publicized but far more ominous matters of national security. Clinton's loathing of the American military led to his failure in his primary responsibility: the protection of the American people. His actions with regard to military preparedness speak for themselves. In less than three years, deployments increased while manpower decreased from 2.1 million to 1.6 million. That decrease was the foundation upon which stood Al Gore's purported "reinvention" of government. Of the 305,000 employees removed from the federal payroll, 286,000 (or 90%) were military cuts. The statistics for America's defense during the Clinton years reveal the deep-seated animosity of the administration toward those who served in the military. The Army was cut from 18 divisions to 12. The Navy was reduced from 546 ships to 380. Air Force flight squadrons were cut from 76 to 50. While the U.S. military was used as a 'meals on wheels' service by the Clinton administration in its nation building adventures, the military had its own humanitarian crises at home on its own bases. The pay freeze instituted by Clinton was imposed on a military in which 80 percent of all troops earned $30,000 per year or less. Food stamp applications soared and re-enlistment rates dropped.

Bill Clinton is "OVERSHADOWING" his wife. This was displayed when he attempted to defend Sen. Clinton???s comments about former President LBJ, on Black radio. I felt the anger from him, across the airways, and as a Black voter, the vibe I received from former President Clinton, was "I stood by you N....., and now you're turning your backs on us.....so what if Barack Obama is Black, you owe me". For us, kill your dreams. Who???s running for President, ???Bill??? or ???Hillary???? Hillary has to show America that she could fight her own battles, and defend her position. If she doesn???t show the world that she could keep her husband mouth shut, it???s going to ultimately hurt her bid for the Presidency. Former President Bill Clinton is angry because he realizes that Barack Obama will beat Hillary, when those two square off. When you are fearful, you attack what poise a threat. He???s angry and thinking out loud, ???I???ll be daman if I let a Black Man beat Hillary???. ???We are superior to the Black race???..Barack Obama (A Black Man) can???t lead me. ???No way in Hell???. This is the vibe I???m getting from the Clinton Campaign. It hurts that they thinks African-Americans can???t lead effectively, it hurts because if Hillary Campaign Manager decide to run for President against her, they will crucify her, it hurts because they just simply say, ???African-Americans are not worthy of such a high office???.
That???s why African-Americans need Barack Obama to stop the hurt, because we get it from both ends; Republicans and Democrats with a Superiority spirit.

Thank you for saying this. I am not a black woman yet that is exactly the impression I got from Bill as well. I was ashamed of him. Now, not only am I ashamed of our current President and am now ashamed of a former President.

      Go Obama.

To sculptor1 - I see you are among the voices of the kind and thoughtful. You seem to write in the same tone that Bill Clinton speaks these days. Do you find sarcasm the only way to speak your views?

So, it is a fact that White Women have benefited the most from civil rights legislation and hold high ranking positions throughtout American society. Hillary Clinton represents a faction of the civil rights movement and Obama another. Hillary's faction has proven to be stronger. And ironically her faction is the one that benefited the most from civil rights. . Obama's x factor is not race but unity. What brings unity, economic success for the average JOE.

There is only one unifying issue in this country and that is the ECONOMY, mONEY, DOLLARS, and that is why women with children are coming out in record numbers to support Hillary. They believe that Hillary can directly address their soccer mom concerns, education, health care and the economy.
Obama can counter this by proposing sweeping middle class tax cuts. Hillary Clinton has not been specific on this issue. If the MIDDLE CLASS FEELS THAT OBAMA can actually imPlement a middle class revolution then race will no longer be a factor and Obama will be able to cross over and take a chunk of the white vote. THis revolution would include dealing with outsourcing, programs for the middle class that show them how to save, invest, plan and avioid debt. These subjects are not taught in school.WHY?

The middle class has been the victim of corporate indoctrination. Stay StuPid. They do not want you to double your money they want you to double their money. Every middle class family should be able to do compound interest problems in their heads. It can be learned in grade two. It is a very useful skill to have because it gives you a lightning fast benchmark to determine how good (or not so good) a potential investment is likely to be.
The rule says that to find the number of years required to double your money at a given interest rate, you just divide the interest rate into 72. For example, if you want to know how long it will take to double your money at eight percent interest, divide 8 into 72 and get 9 years. If the Middle Class can make better financial decisions it would have a profound affect on the economy.
The rule A stronger middle class will make the rich richer in the long run and helP uPlift the Poor.

You're almost there. There is more than one unifying issue. Illegal immigration, the economy (tax cuts), and energy independence. We need to drill oil in Alaska pronto to bring down the price of gasoline and boost the economy with very well paying jobs.

As a life-long democrat, I just think it's sad that the very slash and burn politics associated with the Bush/Rove campaigns are surfacing with the Clintons. Let's face it..if Hillary wins, Bill wins. If anyone thinks he will not be the untitled VP, having his hands in all the facets of the Oval office, then people are delusional. As a woman, I'd like to see her fight her own battles on the campaign trail without needing hubby.

The slash and burn politics associated with Bush/Rove!!?? Remove the scales from your eyes, the Clintons were the experts and still practicing their worst. Read the judicial report just released and wake up!

Bill Clinton is acting like a spoiled petulant child. Now he claims that a vast left wing conspiracy exists in his own party to manipulate votes and within the media to raise Obama and hold down Hillary.

Which is it Bill a Vast Right Wing, or left Wing conspiracy, or both?

Time for some mental counseling help or to change meds there Bill.

Hooray for Bill. He is the only one who can minimize the disequity of the media in their abomitable handling of HRC. Our culture does seem to have developed a political correctness when attacking a black, however, it has done just the opposite in its treatment of women. How can you run a race when every disparging remark about a black is labeled racism. Likewise, how can one run a race when the media will not challenge Obama, but will miss no opportunity to portray HRC negatively, Hillary and Bill are struggling to overcome this one-sidedness. Lets hope that everyone gets this worked out by the time the general election rolls around.

HRC treated badly by the press??? Why is there so little reporting of the fact that she cast her biggest vote, for the WAR, WITHOUT READING THE 94-page NIE? as a 'certified genius", this should not have taken too long, given the fact how many people died beacuse of it. Where is the press, documentint the pattern of the last 4 states of voter supression, false statments, race baiting by a stream of surrogates and robocalls.... Where is the press in pointing out the "ceiling" (lowered daily!) of Americans, even in her own party by esp. among independents (FLOCKING TO McCain), which makes it almost impossible for her to win in November?

Bill Clintin has always done -- and will always do -- what he wants to do. He will break any promise, any oath, any vow and any commitment to get what he wants; and he desperately wants to return to the White House.

Bill Clinton has always done, and will always do, what he wants to do. He is a selfish man who will break any rule, any oath, any commitment for his satisfaction; and he wants desperately to be back in the White House.

Bill Clinton has los is mind and I do believe he will go down in history as one of the most corrupt presidents in history. However, I am grateful to him for one thing: He is responsible for me becoming a conservative. The way that liberals supported, and support, his corruption made me realize that, morally speaking, their party wasn't for me. As a proud moderate, I'm gunning for McCain. As such, please PLEASE let Billary get the nomination.

Mr. Clinton is acting like a whining, petulant, dad of a Little League player. Always saying "No fair." God help us if we get those people in the WH again.
