A new study links increased miscarriage risk to caffeine consumption, but other experts say a cup or two a day is fine. What's a coffee-loving mom to do?

Comment: In today's society, with little money going into scientific research in America, and the FDA skipping around with corporate america, it behooves everyone considering pregnancy to stay away from anything in a bag, box, bottle or can (Childbirth Today: Prepared & Positive). The future of our youth is critical to our world today. Coffee, as much as I love my 1-2 cups/each morning, is caffeine, a drug. Moderation in all things, including moderation - so use organic coffee beans to be prudent.
Comment: Coffee never hurt no one. homie. chill the *** out bro.
Comment: that is such bullshit. Coffiee won't hurt a pregnant woman. You *** should just shut the *** up.
Comment: I know what caffiene did to me when my mom was pregnant with me and that was 50 years ago. To this day I have never touched a cup of coffee and have very little intake of caffiene
Comment: These are not new recommendations. A simple search of pregnancy-related sites will show a suggestion of not ingesting more than 150-300 mg. of caffeine if you are pregnant or trying to become so. Once again, news is made when old information gets recycled by someone new. The fact that this is not a double-blind study and was performed by an HMO doesn't offer a lot of hope for new information. When you're pregnant, you need to heed your doctor's advice. . . and very few doctors would suggest a no-holds-barred ingesting of caffeine.
Comment: I quit drinking caffiene when I was trying to get pregnant for a few years. I was not able to get pregnant so I gave up. A year or two later I found myself drinking a lot of caffiene like Starbucks and Red Bull everyday and I got pregnant. I worried about the effects on the fetus but she turned out just fine...she is a healthly, happy 9 mo old baby. Caffiene is my vice...it helps in my workouts and gets the sloth in me going.
Comment: i thought that a small cup of coffie wouldint do much harm but now that i see the baby has no protection at all from what i consume i wouldint drink it at all i know that sometimes coffie gives me the jitters, and sometimes my eyes twitch and hands shake from just a little bit of it.sometimes i forget to ask for decaff or they slip it to me anyways like i cant tell .so i can imagine how the baby is freaking out thanks for the info
Comment: Caffiene isnt good for you period. Cut it out of your life or cut down on it substantially and you wont have to worry about stuff like this.
