A grass-roots effort launched by a pair of home-schooled 19-year-old evangelical brothers could become crucial to Mike Huckabee's presidential bid. Meet the Harris twins.

I have heard many comments condemning Mr. Huckabee for being an ordained minister, but I would rather have a minister than a hedge-fund trader (Mr. Romney) in the Whitehouse any day of the week. The terms Liberal and Conservative are thrown about too loosely, especially by my fellow Christians. We let the discussion of right and wrong fall to the wayside and replace those terms with conservative and liberal. Too many Christians let FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter influence them. Please, I bed you, look at Rupert (FOX) Murdoch's media world of sex and sensationalism. Look at Rush Limbaugh's glutonous, cigar-smoking, money-loving (root of all evil) ways. Look at Ann Coulter's immodesty in both dress and speech... Now, honestly, tell me that THEY are conservative. I hardly think so. They continually drag America down by confusing conservative values with greed, materialism, and lassez-faire economics. Mr. Huckabee stands for something deeper than economic gain. More than anything else, the economy of our nation is determined by the depth of our moral fiber. Rome didn't fall because of economic problems. It fell because it was immoral and corrupt. Mr. Romney represents Wall Street... that's right: the money lenders. Mr. Huckabee represents Main Street and American values. Think about it. Thank You.

First of all, Romney is NOT a hedge fund trader...nor is he anything close to anything that resembles a hedge fund trader. Secondly, sounds like you would rather have a minister than just about any other qualification for President. Which is fine, if that's what you want, but don't try to disparage Romney just to make yourself feel better about your decision.

OK, so instead his company, Bain Capital, is in the process of buy Fox News and all of their "conservative" people with it. Wonder why Hannity says he's voting Romney?

Cool beans. Glad to hear it given the rest of the mainstream media for the most part is owned by the Dems....

The media controls the election. During debate they almost ignored Huckabee. The news media constantly says--Quote" This a two man race, Romney and McCain. Huckabee1s name isn`t even mentioned. What are they afraid of? That they won`t have enough disasters to report if Huck gets into office? I don`t think they want a well run country--no news to report.

As an Arkansan who lived under the Huckster's regime I am flabbergasted and appalled that this man has made it this far in the campaign. If you want to know the Huckster's true character, take a look at his record as governor of Arkansas. You'll see more questionable ethics and quid pro quo back scratching than any other campaign (except for Hillary's, of course). I am begging all of the Republicans out there to not be wooed by his baptist minister, aww shucks act and really investigate this man! We Arkansans were glad to get him out of the governor's mansion, but we didn't think people would vote him into the White House.

    • Posted By: justsayno @ 02/01/2008 1:20:19 AM

Thankfully we can see a better example of Mike"s real record posted above. You make accusations, but don't back them up. Mike Huckabee is the first and only reasonable voice in this whole campaign.

  • Posted By: chuckster @ 01/23/2008 5:01:42 AM

As a conservative Christian, I just don't like Huckabee. He's a politician first and foremost. Sure he's funny and glib, but that's not what this nation needs. He also gets in snide little digs at others, like the metamucil comment about Thompson rather than Huckabee defending his own record. He's a hybrid of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, and that's why so many true conservatives will never support him. And he's been all over the map on illegal immigration, along with the war on terror. What is it Mike? Just be nice to the terrorists and they'll be nice to use, or bomb them back to stone age? Huckabee's taken both positions in the last few months.

    • Posted By: rickhutch @ 01/31/2008 10:51:41 PM

You speak as if all immigrants are terrorists. My, what a "Christian" point of view. I suppose that would include our Lord and his parents, since they had to flee their own country and find refuge in Egypt because their government leader tried to murder them. Just think if Egypt considered all Israelites terrorists back then, and built a wall to keep Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in the desert.

I'm really impressed with what these guys have been able to accomplish. I applaud their efforts for doing something that they believe in.

Venessamcbain - with all do respect I think you're totally missing the point of what these kids are doing. Your comments scream of the partisan politics that these kids are trying to avoid. Rather, they would like to form their alliances from a religious standpoint. Which is actually a bit scary, if well-intentioned.

Eerily, I would hate to see how the US would end up with a decade or more's worth of leaders driven by their faith. The president's faith does not translate into writing effective legislation. What will result will be an oppressive, ultra-conservative state, where basic freedoms are suppressed because they do not fall in line with what the president thinks is "God's Plan." And that is completely against what the framers of this country wanted. And I would stand to argue that it does not reflect kindly on Christianity as a whole either, from God's point of view. The president's job is to execute the laws passed by Congress for all the people of this country....not for the benefit of Christians with the subplot to convert or subvert everyone else that does not fall in line.

For the record, I am a very proud Christian. This kind of religious manuevering in political circles, however, is a disgrace.

    • Posted By: rickhutch @ 01/31/2008 10:45:50 PM

I don't find it a disgrace at all to include one's beliefs in their political stands. The government legislates issues important to moral and religious people, such as cloning of humans, abortion, and marriage between a man and a woman. These are religios and moral issues, and we as Christians hae every right to include ourselves in the process of seeing our laws reflect Christian morals as my forefathers came to this country to establish. Selfish "rights" based on secular humanistic views that destroy the fabric of family and country are not what was meant when the founders spoke of inalienable God-given rights.

  • Posted By: impossibleshot @ 01/23/2008 10:49:57 AM

I have no doubt Huckabee is a decent and respectable man. I'm sure in person Bush is as well. Still, I think religous fervor is no substitute for intelligence.

And actually, the founders and framers of our country were products of Englightenment thought, not Christianity. Though many of them were Christian, it was the writings of Locke, Rousseau, and others the formulated the ideals of a "social contract" under which our democracy was formed. Thomas Jefferson was actually criticized in his bid for the presidency because religious religious types were afraid of his vehement belief in the separation of church and state. Fast forward to some of today's minor religous issues in the national debate - for instance, the call for "under God" to be removed from the pledge of allegience. While I take no opinion on this and feel this is a waste of time, I totally see how this is a bit oppressive. Think about the context in which it was added: It was added in 1951 by religious conservatives in Congress who were afraid of widely overexagerated communist threats in America. It's pointless religious fervor, and it's a waste fo the entire country's time.

The country needs someone who will confront serious domestic and foreign issues, not issue edicts that pronounce his faith. It's not a popularity contest, and it's not a pulpit. It's a freakin' executive office.

    • Posted By: rickhutch @ 01/31/2008 10:32:41 PM

It was Thomas Jefferson who wrote that our inalienable rights were "God-given" and while he did speak of separating church and government, he never spoke of separating governemnt from God himself as many propose today. Anyone who takes a tour of Washington's buildings and monuments will find scripture quotes, references to God and even the 10 Commandment carved into our most cherished structures, all quotes from our founding fathers. The French also built their governemnt on "Enlightenment" but without Christ, and their revolution was a massacre of innocent blood equal in cruelty to the killing fields of Cambodia. What makes America's revolution different was the founders were willing to stake their lives, families and fortunes on freedom and human equality ordained by GOD. That is true American history.

I lived 10 years in Arkansas under Mike Huckabee as governor and I admire his stand against a hostile Democratic machine built around Bill and Hillary. Mike is a true leader and a fiscal conservative that balanced the budget, lowered our taxes across the board (NEVER done in Arkansas before Huck), improved roads and the backwards school systems, all in the face of a Democratic legislature. I've been a Chritian and a Conservative Republican for 30 years and Mike Huckabee is the first president I've really liked since Ronald Reagan. I voted for the Bush's but Mike Huckabee is someone I can trust, and anyone who tells lies about Mike's record in Arkansas like keholder must be a liberal Democrat in disguise.

Thanks for showing the other side of the story. It's important for people to know that Huckabee's appeal reaches beyond evangelical circles. Also, it's inspiring to see young people willing to work in order to change their world!

I checked out their website. I find it horrifying that they would doctrinate people against free use of the media.

We see what happened with "God" in the White House. An economy in chaos, a war without end, Exxon/Big Oil profits off the charts, a joke for health "care," the rich get richer and the poor get peanuts, the list goes on and on. Republicans have two Gods: Numero Uno and $$. It's just a shame Billy Graham can't run and he and God (with a little help from God-ballers everywhere, including gullible teenagers) could set this country on the proper path. Maybe Huck could be Secretary of Religion?

I appreciate the zeal of Ron Paul's supporters, but I find Huckabee stronger on certain issues. For example, Ron Paul wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. Great, but then what? Huckabee wants to defend the Constitution against activist judges by amending it to protect the God-given rights of the unborn. This is perfectly in line with the Republican Party Platform's pro-life stance, and is what conservatives have been talking about for years. For this and many other reasons I am a Huckabee supporter.

  • Posted By: joesteinbeck @ 01/22/2008 6:38:00 PM

xtrabiggg, you're talking about the fake Huckabee forums created by Paul supporters. If you'll notice, HucksArmy.com's forums have never been taken down -- and they've always been very considerate to Ron Paul.

    • Posted By: xtrabiggg @ 01/23/2008 12:15:11 PM

'Fake Huckabee forums put up by ROn Paul SUpporters'?

And they say Ron Paul supporters are 'conspiracy Nuts'! If you look at theose forums, they were most certainly NOT put up by Ron aPaul supporters... If they were, don't you think the media would have jumped all over that raw meat to slam Ron Paul?

Governor Mike Huckabee is the real deal, what you see and hear is a good respectable and hard working man. He wil restore dignity and honor to the Office of President of the United States of America. The news media would have the world believe that evangelical christians are one brick short of a load and uneducated.
Catholic: Of or relating to the universal Christian church, representative of the ancient undivided church. Are of the these news media morons atheist who deny the existance of God? America is not a nation of atheist,
Americas foundation and heritage are based on Christianity. What we need for Amereica is a Huckabee/McCain ticket or a McCain/Huckabee ticket to restore the United States of America honorably.

Amen about the way the media has tried to change what Huck said about the constitution. What he actually said was, let's reverse the abortion amendment that the liberal democrats had instituted. This would then put it back in line with God's plan. That is all he said. For those that listen to the media, instead of his entire speached, really please take a second look. Don't fall into the liberal media trap. Remeber, they want a Dem in office!!!

  • Posted By: vanessamcbain @ 01/23/2008 9:40:19 AM

If you are really interested in finding the truth from real people please join Hucksarmy to gain access to the citizens of the US, who have taken the time to really search the issues and have committed to the only candidate that can beat the Hil liar, I mean Hillary. These groups are made up of professors, industrial researchers, economic professors, etc, not politicians.

  • Posted By: vanessamcbain @ 01/23/2008 9:37:41 AM

Sorry I double posted earlier. What I didn't get to say is that he has not been all over the board on ANY issue, his record and stated plans for the future are the same and very clear if you study them instead of listening to the media. He turned AR around, while fighting liberal Democrats, every step of the way....

  • Posted By: vanessamcbain @ 01/23/2008 9:34:18 AM

1: Huckabee is not a liberal and has the best proven record in the Governmental arena in this race for equality in all people, as well as fiscal and conservative issues.
2: Romney has a proven record for helping large corps earn big money. As far as flip flopping on abortion, if Romney were true to his every cause, he would not change on that due to his faith.

It can only be Mike Huckabee do tou see whats at the end of this sentance a period.
