Again we see another article leaving out JOHN EDWARDS. He should be rewarded for doing the best job on the debate, not forgotten. I wish the media would stop pushing their agenda so we can have a fair democratic process.

I Love John Edwards. I wish he and Obama would get together and tag-team the Clintons!

aaronjlevitt Obama said he supported single taxpayer system IF HE WERE BUILDING A SYSTEM FROM SCRATCH. But since its impractical than he says he supports the employer medical plans which we have now. Information always gets edited or distorted. Newsweek really do a better job of reporting. POLITIFACT.COM that's a pretty decent website. Check it out.

GeneNJ why does it seem that people who have followed this nomination for a while Understand completly what is going on. Most Americans read headlines and recognize a familiar name and that's it. We want more well actually less B*S* and actual solutions. Spread Obama's good points around that's what I am doing in Florida, but our votes dont matter with regards to delegates.

As a citizen and a voter, I want to thank newsweek for publishing this article. I don't know that I agree with every one of their conclusions, but so long as they explain their reasoning, it hardly matters. Either way, they're performing an absolutely critical service by at least trying to factcheck the candidates' statements. The truth may help or hurt any particular candidate (including my own), but it can only benefit the country by enabling voters to make a more informed decision.

    Go Obama!

If there is a talented pitcher who throws 100 miles per hour should we keep him in the minors for 10 more years because he is not ready no no he needs experience. Oh there is Barack offering sincere politics, is bright , with a unique ability to inspire and unite, who was right about the war and no no, no, he needs more experience.. Politics is not a trade profession where the longer your there the more you learn from it. Please that's for mechanics, doctors, lawyers not politicians. In that case lets elect Dick Cheney. He has never chased the corporate positions or wealth he is a man of character, I believe in him and I believe even if doesnt become the nominee he has inspired alot of us. Washington will change the people are tired of the diviseness and partisanship.

I feel it in the air OBAMA is going to go down. You know why Because the Clintons injected the race card, it was their comments that caused the over-reaction by the black community. People who dont pay attention and read headliners "Race a Factor in Election." And it becomes oh "Barack the Black candidate", that's not what he's about. He's very appealing to whites and I am a latina who truly gets his message. Remember in a New Hampshire debate she played the gender card "how about having the 1st female president that's change" She appauls me. Yeah a great example for women everywhere marry the right guy and you'll be set for life..boy how far women have come. She has no major Bills named after her or nothing she has lead has ever become law. Barack has done that with less years in the senate. He has held public office longer than Hillary on his own merits and having a weird name.. I think he needs to focus on his experience that's the main reason I am his supporter.

    * Taught the Constititon ( Classroom professor exp.)
    * State Legislation exp. ( State level exp.)
    * U.S. Senator ( National Level Exp.) Has lead and made more changes than HRC

The CLINTONS ARE PHONY its to bad Americans can't read crooked politicians.

I couldn't possibly be more upset having to say this, but you're right, massiel08. Senator Obama is likely going to lose to the Clinton(s) machine. They are WAY too good at fighting dirty. They put him in a position where he HAD to defend himself against them or he would have been called weak, or worse, people may have believed the mud being thrown at him. BUT-- now that he has done so, they've brought him down to their level. The problem there is, the Clintons are the world heavyweight champions of fighting dirty, so they win in a head-to-head when it's lies vs. defending the truth. Obama's strength, magic, and the reason I believe in him is his message of honesty and empowerment. Now that the Clintons stripped that away from him with their despicable lies and mud-slinging tactics, they will actually win. It is to America's shame that things have happened this way. If Romney wins the nomination for the Republicans, and Billary gets the Dems, I'm going to make a bunch of bumper stickers that say: "Presidential Election 2008--Lie to Us, and We'll Reward You for It."

Where are the CLINTON SUPPORTERS? I want to know what are your reasons for going to Hillary? Just Curious.....

    Comment:
Yes, Newsweek, the factcheck.org folks had some omissions in their article as well as quotes taken out of context which rendered the article you quote, of the supposedly unbiased organziation, skewed. I'm writing to the organization with all of these slightly misleading comments that need correction. You might want to give it a more skeptical glance as well.

Yea I wrote to politifact.com and they just send me an email saying they'll do their best to keep trying to portrait facts in an unbiased way..Whatever is the closest thing to the truth you know.

I have watched this whole campaign very carefully as, back in the day, I was a political science student, and aside from being just in general disagreeable to me, HRC still would have had my vote all things considered. This is no longer the case. People talk about all the negativity being a factor against Obama while strategically failing to remember who started the whole thing. Having a capacity for remembering things as they truly happened, this revisionist history of the Clinton???s appalls me. Plus, it galls me that the first so called viable woman candidate can't get into the race without her ex-president spouse. It's Bill Clinton that voters for HRC are heavily favoring, not Hillary. I think that if Hillary does get into the White House we will see an amendment against Presidential nepotism--which is what is going on in this election on an unprecedented scale--and Hillary's credibility (at a time when this nation needs a credible leader more than it ever has) will suffer in a significant way. For all of those reasons, the GOP will tear her up if she is the nominee because #1) Bill won't be able to play the same role in the general election that he is playing in the primaries and #2 HRC will get beat by more experienced dirty anti-Clinton fighters. It's really sad because it's the first time (and who knows, maybe the last because it's all gone so badly) that we have had a viable woman AND a viable African American running for president. I don???t know about anyone else but I am tired of this country being such a joke to the world

I like how the media keeps saying the Dems will eventually unite around their nomination. Half of the Dems, like ALL of the Republicans can't stand the Hill-Billies. Why don't the media take a poll on how many anti Hillary Democrates will vote for MCCain, another candidate, or stay home? Only the Hill-Billies and their supporters coulds actually drive a democrate to sit one out. There are democrates that do not want to re-live the Monica days in a general election. Sorry Hillary- My momma always told me , "You are who your friend are."

  • Posted By: grammagram @ 01/23/2008 2:41:29 PM

When will we tire of the Clinton-type of politics. Bait, back-bite, mistate and deny, and really folks, WHO is running for President? You have Bill in SC and Hillary in CA. Is anyone wondering exactly who will have the authority in the White House? It seems to appear Bill is making a 3rd bid for the White House under the guise of his wife's skirts!!!

Obama has been labeled young and naive. I think that he was forced to debate aggressively. What would his opponents have said if he hadn't taken such a strong stand in the last debate? They would have added yet another label-- weak. I appreciated Obama's strong stance in the last debate, but I think it's time to move on. Sen. Obama, please continue to campaign with integrity and positivity. Honest, hard-working people that are tired of the Clinton "dynasty" will support you.

I'm glad to see them fight. A divided Democratic party is the formula for a Republican victory in November! Of course I still hope Obama can defeat Hillary for the nomination. There is no way that she can be elected President if she doesn't get the nomination first! One thing from the NV caucus race that might just secure the nomination for Hillary is her support among Latinos in the Democratic party. This block was 2.5 times more likely to vote for Hillary than for Obama in the NV caucuses. I wonder if it is the case that they like the white gal or that they just don't like the black guy? Hmmm!

Well wait a minute, Newsweek. The fact is that Hillary DID vote for the bankruptcy measure only to be happy it didn't become law. Whoa! What is that? You seem like you're trying to denounce Barack for mischaracterizing what happened. Yet...that's exactly what happened! So what if she "regretted" doing so? She votes for something she regrets. Gee, where did we hear that before? Iraq war anyone?

  • Posted By: dakotangel @ 01/23/2008 1:54:17 PM

I don't agree with you about the bankruptcy issue. Clinton said that she voted for it but was "happy" it didn't pass. Obama said she voted for it but "hoped" it wouldn't pass. Although "happy" and "hoped" aren't exactly the same, the point is clear. She voted for something that she shouldn't voted for. If you're happy it didn't pass, then maybe you shouldn't have voted for it in the first place. Obama got this one right.

  • Posted By: dakotangel @ 01/23/2008 1:51:46 PM

I don't agree with how you score the bankruptcy issue. Clinton said she voted for it but was "happy" it didn't pass. Obama said she voted for it but "hoped" it wouldn't pass. Yeah, "happy" and "hoped" aren't exactly the same thing, but the point is clear. Obama got it right.

So far, only Clinton and Obama have been carrying the 2008 momentum for an election.

Republicans haven't even made headway in identifying a candidate of preference, and are woefully out of touch with the mood of the country in anticipating the changing of the Presidential guard. That suggests that Democrats are way ahead of the curve in defining the election, and indeed, in recognizing that we are going to have one.

What accounts for Republican absence in this election? Could it be their disorganization from the fiasco they made of Katrina and Abramoff affairs? Republicans are nearly AWOL in this election so far.
