It was just another year at the Oscars—or was it? The 82nd annual Academy Awards were rife with milestones: on March 7, Best Picture and Best Director went to The Hurt Locker’s Kathryn Bigelow (at left), whose winning put her in history books as the first woman to do so. (Bigelow's win had the added benefit of being in front of her ex-husband, ballyhooed Avatar director James Cameron). And Precious director Lee Daniels (at right), also nominated for Best Director and Best Picture, was only the second African-American director to get the nod.
