Manchester United: Jose Mourinho ‘Sad and Happy’ Over Star Midfielder’s Transfer

Manchester United and Everton have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin, 27, will move to Goodison Park for a fee of £22 million ($26.7 million) to join up with Ronald Koeman, his former manager at Southampton, according to the BBC

Schneiderlin was a major signing for former United manager Louis Van Gaal in the summer of 2015, but he struggled to hold down a starting place and has made just three Premier League appearances this season, all as a substitute, under Van Gaal’s successor Jose Mourinho.

“Ed Woodward [United’s executive vice chairman] informed me that the situation is close. Morgan is more than probably going to Everton,” Mourinho told Sky Sports following United’s EFL Cup semi-final first leg victory over Hull City at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

“I am sad and happy, sad because I like him and he could be an option for us, happy because this is what he wants, to play every game and be important in the team.”
