Press releases come at us from all sides in the Iraq war, and on the American side, they came fast and furious, from Corps at Camp Victory, from individual division and brigade public affairs offices throughout the theatre, from the Corps of Engineers and the Marine Corps (usually terse, "A Marine was killed in Anbar province." No further information until next of kin are notified, which is rather like saying, 'A Frenchman was killed in France.'). Most of these never see the light of day, which is a pity. The military doesn't just cover insurgent caches found and detainees captured; they make sure they get some good news in as well. Here are a few examples, too good to make up.
