Peter Sarsgaard to Star as Robert Kennedy in 'Jackie'

American actor Peter Sarsgaard is in negotiations to play politician Robert F. Kennedy alongside Natalie Portman as Jacqueline Kennedy, according to Variety, in the forthcoming movie Jackie, focusing on the former First Lady's actions in the days following her husband's assassination.

Set four days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963, the movie will explore the former First Lady's courage as she deals with the aftermath of her husband's death.

Sarsgaard—who recently appeared alongside Johnny Depp in the Whitey Bulger biopic Black Mass—will play the President's brother, alongside Academy-Award winner Natalie Portman.

Chilean director Pablo Larraín, best known for the Oscar-nominated political satire No, will direct the film. It will be his first English-language motion picture. Portman will reunite with Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky, who will be the produce the film.

While the film is yet to find a distributor, it is expected to begin shooting by the end of this year.
