Team USA Vs Czech Republic: Where to Watch as U.S. Men's Hockey Team Look to Secure Spot in Olympic Semi-final

The quarter finals of the men’s Olympic hockey tournament get underway on Tuesday night, with Team USA two games away from a gold medal match.

Tony Granato’s men face the Czech Republic at 10:10 p.m. (EST), as they bid to reach the semi-final stage for the third consecutive time. The game is broadcast by NBC, but you can also stream it live here.

Team USA reached the quarter finals after dispatching Slovakia 5-1 in the playoff on Monday, courtesy of two goals from Ryan Donato and one apiece from James Wisniewski, Mark Arcobello  and Garrett Roe.

The pool stage proved to be a mixed bag for the U.S, who suffered a 3-2 overtime defeat against Slovenia, before beating Slovakia 2-1. However, they were comprehensively outclassed by Russia, who won 4-0.

Nevertheless, Monday’s 5-1 rout of Slovakia could prove a turning point for Granato’s team, who were a lot more clinical in front of goal than in previous outings.

The five-goal haul meant the U.S. scored more against Slovakia than it had in three group stage games combined, while at the other end Ryan Zapolski stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced.

Team USA and the Czech Republic met at the corresponding stage in Sochi four years ago, with the Americans emerging 5-2 winners on their way to a semi-final reverse against Canada.

The Czechs, who feature eight players with NHL experience, have played a game less than the U.S. after winning all three games in Group A, including a 3-2 shootout win against Canada, and qualified directly for the quarters.

Winners at the Nagano games in 1998, the Czechs last won an Olympic medal in Turin 2006. They have failed to reach the semi-final stage in three of the last four Winter Games.
