Transition: Coach Eddie Robinson

In 56 seasons as a football coach, Robinson brought national stature to Grambling State University, a small, historically black college in Louisiana. His program sent more than 200 players to the NFL, including four Hall-of-Famers and a Super Bowl MVP.

When Robinson retired in 1997 with a career mark of 408-165-15, he was the winningest coach in college-football history. But he'll be best remembered as a mentor who cared for the education and character of his players. His refrain: "You've got to coach each boy like you want him to marry your daughter."
