MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough on Wednesday morning compared President Donald Trump and his administration to the queen of all reality shows—Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
“This is a reality-TV show, and I’m not being glib about it. This is a reality-TV show. People like watching this guy go crazy,” Scarborough said. “This is, this is the Kardashians come to Washington.”
The former Republican congressman turned television and radio host then posed the question of when everything might catch up to the outspoken president, who starred in the NBC reality show The Apprentice.
“It’s not a lie, it’s not an outrageous comment, it’s not even all the racist attacks he makes—for some reason none of this, not a sex scandal with a porn star that he pays off. That would get nine out of 10 presidents out … OK, 999 out of 1,000,” Scarborough said. “It’s not that. It’s when he gets predictable, it’s when he gets boring.”
Sources said Trump in a meeting last month referred to Haiti and African nations as “shithole countries,” and reports emerged that his lawyer paid off porn star Stormy Daniels to cover up an alleged affair.
To illustrate his point on how different Trump is from his predecessors, Scarborough explained that he was previously shocked at how past presidents could give the same speeches for six years and still engage some constituents.
“I realized then that every president has a sell-by date. For [Ronald] Reagan, it was six years,” Scarborough said. “For Donald Trump, because everything is so amped up, it’s obviously going to come sooner.”
Scarborough and Trump have long butted heads despite coming from the same political party. Scarborough in a Washington Post op-ed during the presidential campaign called on the GOP to dump Trump, and Trump has since called him "Psycho Joe.”
