Singer The Weeknd dropped a new album, My Dear Melancholy, at midnight Friday. One track from the six-song lineup has drawn speculation from fans who suspect ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez served as inspiration.
In listening to "Call Out My Name," it may not be wrong to conclude The Weeknd penned this song about Gomez. Fans have taken the liberty of decoding lyrics from the song to determine which ones could be associated with the onetime couple.
The song details one of the "Pray for Me" singer's past relationships. "We found each other. I helped you out of a broken place," he sang. "You gave me comfort. But falling for you was my mistake."

As the lead track progresses, The Weeknd appears to make a direct reference to Gomez's kidney transplant surgery—a procedure the singer/actress had in the midst of their relationship last summer due to her lupus. Grown-ish star Francia Raisa, a close pal of Gomez's, donated her kidney to the Disney alum. But The Weeknd seemingly insinuates that he contemplated donating his kidney to the "Bad Liar" songstress.
"I said I didn't feel nothing, baby, but I lied," he belts. "I almost cut a piece of myself for your life."
Shortly after, a lyric appears to call out Gomez for going back to on-again-off-again boyfriend, Justin Bieber—a former relationship she's rumored to have rekindled. He sang, "Guess I was just another pit stop 'til you made up your mind. You just wasted my time."
In the song "Privilege," The Weeknd seems to sing about Gomez's "privileged life," fans suspect. The singer appears to recommend she "enjoy" it as he pledges he's "not gonna hold you through the night."
Gomez wasn't the only former girlfriend The Weeknd appeared to reference on My Dear Melancholy. In the song "Wasted Times," he seems to sing about model Bella Hadid, whom he dated from mid-2015 to late 2016. He belted, "Wasted times I spent with someone else. She wasn't even half of you," which could be determined as a jab at Gomez.

In October 2017, The Weeknd and Gomez announced their split. The former pair, who dated for 10 months, said the breakup was amicable. Gomez was spotted with Bieber shortly after calling things off with The Weeknd, and the "Party Monster" singer was caught with Hadid.
Representatives for The Weeknd and Gomez did not return Newsweek's request for comment.
