For years, the SUV has been one of the most popular vehicle types in the U.S. market. Every carmaker has one, from the highest luxury segment on down to more budget-friendly models.
SUVs afford customers the ability to ride higher than the typical sedan and carry more passenger and cargo than the typical sedan.
Newsweek has crunched the numbers and found out which 15 SUVs have the most cargo space. Take a look.
No. 15 - 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

Total Cargo Space: 140.5 cubic feet
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 140.5 cubic feet of total cargo space. Behind the first row there's 68.3 cubic feet, 36.3 cubic feet behind the second row and 17.2 cubic feet of space is behind the Grand Cherokee L's third row.
The cargo area includes a storage tray, eight cargo tie-downs, a driver's side storage bin and a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet. A cargo compartment cover is standard on many trims.
No. 14 - 2022 Infiniti QX60

Total Cargo Space: 140.6 cubic feet
The three-row premium SUV boasts 75.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, 41.6 cubic feet behind the second and 14.5 cubic feet behind the third.

Anchoring the middle of this list is the Buick Enclave, which has 97.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the front seats, 58 cubic feet after the second row and 23.6 cubic feet after the third row.
The power liftgate can be activated from the key fob.
The Enclave falls short of the Hyundai Palisade's cargo space (featured in a higher position on this list) and wins against the Mazda CX-9, which has 71.2 cubic feet of cargo space beyond the front seats.
No. 7 - 2021 Chevrolet Traverse

Total Cargo Space: 157.3 cubic feet
The Traverse has the same total cargo space as its Enclave cousin, but ekes out a higher standing with 0.6 more cubic feet behind the first row. Behind the second and third rows are 57.8 cubic feet and 23 cubic feet of cargo space, respectively. The Traverse has an available hands-free power-programmable liftgate.
The Ford Explorer, another three-row SUV, falls short with only 87.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row.

The Escalade wins in a cargo comparison against the Lincoln Navigator, which has 103.3 cubic feet of space after the first row. The SUV also bests the cargo room in the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
No. 5 - 2021 Nissan Armada

The largest SUV of Nissan's lineup has 95.4 cubic feet after the first row, 49.9 cubic feet after the second and 16.5 after the third.
An auto-closure liftgate comes standard with a power liftgate available on the SL and Platinum Trims.
By comparison, the Chevrolet Tahoe has 122.9 cubic feet of cargo space and the Ford Expedition has 121.5 cubic feet of cargo space.
No. 4 - 2021 Hyundai Palisade
