Mystery as Three Bodies Found in Arizona Field

The Phoenix Police Department has launched a homicide investigation after three bodies were found in a field.

Police were called about an injured person in a vacant lot near 99th Avenue and Mobile Lane in southwest Phoenix, Arizona, at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, according to a KTAR News report.

When officers arrived, they discovered the bodies of three men and said it was clear that they had suffered signs of trauma.

Homicide detectives responded to the area and spoke to witnesses as they processed the crime scene.

Police did not reveal what caused the deaths of the three individuals but they said the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office would determine the cause of death.

Residents in the local area admitted that they were concerned about the discovery of the three bodies. Only one street divides the field where the bodies were found to a neighborhood where many families live with their children.

Resident George Zak spoke to ABC15 and voiced his concern that there was little information available on the deaths of the three individuals.

"The sad thing is, you know, we moved out here for the view. It used to be really quiet out here," Zak said to ABC15.

While walking to the area thought to be where the bodies were discovered by police, Zak said he did not want to get too close as the nature of the incident was concerning.

Another resident, Ray Castaneda, spoke to local media and said he wished he could help with the investigation. He said it was a scary situation and his family would now be looking into installing security cameras.

"This is a family community. We have a lot of children playing in the area, all of a sudden less than 100 feet away, finding bodies is kind of scary," he said.

"It's really bad. I mean, you know, they were someone else's husbands, probably fathers to someone else, brothers? We don't know.

"It would have been great to have something like [security cameras] for police to have clues on where to start their investigation.

"But we did not have it, so we are planning to do it [now]."

Police have said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case can call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151.
