'90 Day Fiancé' Star Geoffrey Knows That People Want Him Off the Show
Geoffrey Paschel has come under scrutiny by many viewers of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, after an alleged criminal past was unearthed. The Knoxville, Tennessee man, who is currently on Season 4 of the TLC spinoff, confronted a petition asking for him to be removed from the show.
Paschel was apparently accused of raping his second wife, according to divorce papers obtained by Starcasm. The blog claimed Paschel has been married four times and was arrested for domestic violence in 2019.
The petition on Change.org to remove Paschel from the TLC show drew over 2,700 signatures with a goal of reaching 5,000. It alleged that Paschel "has been accused of kidnapping, abuse, rape, child endangerment, dealing drugs, felony larceny, theft and battery."
Not only did the petition ask for a change in casting from TLC, but it addressed sponsors on the channel: "We would also like to make advertisers aware of what they are supporting, and hope to see that your companies will not stand for promoting such atrocities as these."
Newsweek reached out to TLC Friday for comment.
The reality star recently posted a lengthy Instagram post addressing the petition and his right to live a unique life. He began by answering why he would submit himself to a show that would tear apart his past and his public reputation.
"Well, guys, it is MY past. It is MY life. It is MY choice," he wrote. "If we were all the same: thought the same, looked the same, or acted the same, how lame would that be? My closed-up life was the only way I knew to live. I hid so much about myself—whether it be my age, my history, or even my relationships."
He continued: "What crazier, whacked up way could I have done it any better than blasting out there? With the path I chose, it cannot EVER be reversed. Everything about me is out there for the world to see, whether it is true or fantasy. I can never go back, and honestly, I would not have it any different."
Comments on the Instagram post were positive and supportive of Paschel. Instagram did note that comments on the post have been "limited," which seems to imply some have been restricted or deleted.
It appears he will address the issues on the show. A trailer shows him calling his past self a "bad boy" and admitting that he had a history of dealing drugs. It's unclear if Paschel will address the rape allegation.
On 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Paschel is dating Varya, a radio host living in Moscow. The plot of the spinoff shows new relationships that have international boundaries. Instead of the typical 90 Day Fiancé series, which shows foreign love interests moving to America, Before the 90 Days follows the starting journey between long-distance couples as they plan to meet for the first time and possibly get engaged.
