Adidas x South Park Towelie Shoes Selling for Hundreds on eBay and StockX

The Adidas Towelie shoes are already being sold for hundreds of dollars by scalpers on resale sites like eBay and StockX after being released today. The shoes were released on the cannabis-themed holiday of 4/20 to honor the South Park character's penchant for drug use.

Towelie is a talking towel, genetically engineered by Tynacorp, to allow him to "make people as dry as necessary, depending on the situation," according to the South Park fandom wiki. Towelie first appeared in the season five episode "Towelie," and he is "usually seen either appearing out of nowhere to give towel advice to the citizens of South Park or getting high."

Co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone discuss creating Towelie, the lamest character ever.

Now, on "Weed Day," Adidas has given its Campus 80 silhouette shoes a Towelie makeover, complete with a periwinkle blue terrycloth upper. The shoes' tongues feature Towelie's anthropomorphized eyes which become bloodshot when exposed to the sun.

The insides of the tongues feature Towelie quotes, "Don't forget to bring a towel" and "I have no idea what's going on," and two pouches to store whatever the wearer can fit in there. For now, the pouches contain two keychains: a sober Towelie and one under the influence.

The Towelie x Adidas shoes were difficult for South Park fans to get their hands on as they were available to purchase via a raffle hosted on the Adidas CONFIRMED app.

The shoes were originally sold by Adidas for $100 a pair, but scalpers are asking for much more on reselling sites.
