'Adorable' Video of Cat Playing in Baby's Bassinet Charms Internet

An "adorable" viral video that shows a cat playing with a baby's bassinet has delighted online commenters.

The video was posted to Reddit's "Awww" forum on Sunday by u/Thund3rbolt, who wrote: "I'm the baby now." So far, the post has amassed more than 57,000 upvotes and over 300 comments. A majority of Redditors thought the video was "so cute," however, a few commenters argued that the cat's actions were "unsanitary."

In the video, the cat can be seen lying on its back in the bassinet, pawing at the mobile. But as its owner inches closer to the bassinet, the cat freezes. After a few moments, it lunges towards the mobile and continues to play. The video ends with the cat looking up at its owner, with an expression that one user described as its "Oh, you caught me" face.

"Okay so that's officially the cutest thing I've ever seen," u/FoundationParty3646 said of the video.

"Oh my gosh, he's got the cutest lil baby face too!" exclaimed u/perfectlyniceperson.

"This triggered the longest loudest 'Awww!' I think I've ever given," wrote u/TThor.

Redditor u/Maretta16 added: "That is so cute."

Despite all the positive reactions the video received, those worried about the baby's health said that the cat shouldn't be allowed in the bassinet.

"That's pretty gross. My cat has never been allowed in any of our baby stuff, no matter how 'cute' it may look. Super duper unsanitary," said u/Anchors_Away.

"This is unsanitary. This had better get washed and cleaned," added u/Mad_Chemist_.

According to Healthline, cats do pose a slight risk to newborns, however, there are a few things parents can do to keep their babies and pets happy and healthy. To prevent the spread of diseases and parasites, Healthline encouraged parents to wear gloves when changing the cat box and to stop children from going near or eating cat litter.

Cats Protection, an England-based charity, also recommended parents use cat and baby-safe anti-bacterial spray to clean "work" or "food preparation" surfaces that a cat may have walked across.

u/Thund3rbolt's video isn't the first of its kind to garner a mixed reaction. Last month, a video that shows a cat taking a ride in a baby swing also went viral in Reddit's "Awww" forum.

"While we wait for the baby to come our cats try out all of the cool things we get for her," wrote u/farttransfer, the cat's owner.

"This cracked me up!" exclaimed one Redditor. Meanwhile, another said: "Gross."
