After Las Vegas Shooting, Joe Scarborough Attacks 'Mean' and 'Brutal' Trump, Calls for 'Kindness' in America

After the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history in Las Vegas Sunday night, Joe Scarborough, the host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, reignited his feud with President Donald Trump Tuesday morning.

Scarborough advised Americans to act with kindness in the wake of Sunday’s massacre at the Route 91 music festival and not to follow the lead of the “unkind” president.

“Whether you vote for him or not, whether you support him or not, most people will agree, Donald Trump is not a kind man,” Scarborough said.

“He is a mean man, he’s crude, he’s brutal, he says horrible things,” Scarborough added, gesturing toward his co-host and fiancée Mika Brzezinski, who nodded her head in approval.

“It seems to me, with all of this anger and rage, this bad news coming at us every day, the most defiant thing we can do is show uncommon acts of kindness.”

Scarborough and Brzezinski were the targets of Trump’s Twitter ire in June when the president singled them out in a series of deeply personal tweets, seemingly unhappy about their criticism of him on Morning Joe.

Trump branded Brzezinski “Crazy Mika” and Scarborough “Psycho Joe” and attacked Brzezinski’s physical appearance, soliciting outrage from both Republican and Democratic senators and calls for his immediate resignation.

In an opinion piece for the Washington Post in June, Brzezinski and Scarborough hit out at the “president’s unhealthy obsession with our show” and accused the Trump administration of using the National Enquirer to spread negative stories about them.

“[Top] White House staff members warned that the National Enquirer was planning to publish a negative article about us unless we begged the president to have the story spiked. We ignored their desperate pleas,” they wrote.

The MSNBC couple have continued to be vocal about Trump in recent months. On September 30, Scarborough tweeted about Trump’s “poor leadership” in relation to disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
