Alden Richards Scores Asian Star Prize At Seoul International Drama Awards

Alden Richards won big Wednesday at the Seoul International Drama Awards.

The Hello, Love, Goodbye actor nabbed the Asian Star Prize—only the third Filipino to do so in the history of the awards.

"As a Filipino, I am very humbled and grateful to be recognized in the international scene, along with so many amazing and talented artists here tonight," the Kapuso star said in his acceptance speech.

Richards went on to address the political significance of his win, saying "This award is extra special because it comes at a time when we are celebrating 70 years of friendship between the Philippines and South Korea."

The actor, however, is no stranger to the international stage. In 2018, Richards received a silver medal from the New York Festivals for his portrayal of Bonifacio "Boni" Ilagan in the 2017 movie Alaala.

"It is always our goal to make more people happy, and inspire them with our passion," he said, concluding his speech.

Richards, who is outspoken about his Catholic upbringing, has 5.4 million followers on his official twitter page along with a bio that reads "The only way is GOD's way." Since his win, both colleagues and enthusiastic fans have taken to the social media platform, showing support using the hashtag #ALDENxSeoulDramaAwards.

The actor's network, GMA TV tweeted out, "Your GMA Pinoy TV family is so proud of you!"

Richards' victory also comes on the heels of his hitting the 3 million follower mark on Instagram Monday. He shared the good news with a cheeky little message to fans by writing "3M na tayo...I don't love you," his character's iconic line from the 2019 movie 'Hello, Love, Goodbye.'
