Original Story

After weeks of speculation and injury updates, it seems former NXT Champion Aleister Black is slated to miss Takeover Brooklyn 4 on Aug. 18.

The Aug. 8 episode of WWE's NXT featured a match between Johnny Gargano and Black. However, the two superstars didn't get far into their bout before current NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa interfered causing a three-way brawl. NXT General Manager William Regal arrived to announce a triple threat match for the NXT Championship.

However, shortly after NXT went off the air, a video of Black, laid-out in the Full Sail University parking lot, was posted to WWE's social.

In the above video, medical staff say Black is unconscious. This seems to be the angle WWE is using to write Black out of the triple threat match at Takeover Brooklyn 4 as Regal took to Twitter to give an update on the status of Black. " Spent the night in a local medical facility in Orlando. As of now, medical personnel still have no update on his status. I hope to provide an update later today."

Fans who have been following the dirt sheets know that Black reportedly suffered a groin injury in a match against Ciampa during an NXT Live Event in Las Vegas. It was reported that Black would need surgery and Dave Meltzer described the injury as "scary."

Pro Wrestling Sheet and PWInsider are reporting that Black won't be cleared to compete in time for NXT Takeover Brooklyn 4, and is likely out until at least October.

WWE hasn't confirmed Black will be pulled from the show, but with one more episode of NXT before the event, it seems only a matter of time. We will update when WWE gives official word on Aleister Black's status.

With Black presumably out of Takeover Brooklyn 4, the main event will likely become a normal singles match between Ciampa and Gargano for the NXT Championship.

NXT Takeover Brooklyn 4 will stream on the WWE Network on Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. EDT.
