Alex Bregman is one of the more intriguing free agents on the market because it doesn't seem like he's going to land the massive contract that he's reportedly pursuing.

The Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs, and a few other teams make sense as a suitor for Bregman. There are a few other teams, but in all likelihood, the veteran is going to land with one of those three teams.

Jackson Roberts of Fastball OnSi predicted Bregman would re-sign with the Red Sox in the coming weeks ahead of next season.

"Now that we've established that Bregman is likely off the table for Toronto, it would appear that the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Chicago Cubs are the most realistic options for the three-time All-Star to man the hot corner," Roberts wrote. "ESPN's Buster Olney reported on Friday during an appearance on TSN 1050's 'First Up' that the Red Sox had recently made an 'aggressive' offer for their incumbent third baseman, who was a crucial leader in the clubhouse on top of putting up 3.5 bWAR in 114 games.

"It's got to be frustrating for Sox fans to see this thing continue to drag out, but we're guessing their patience will prove worthwhile."

The Red Sox are the clear top suitor for Bregman. He was one of the best players in Boston during his one season with the team, and the front office should pay him to retain him.

It will likely cost quite a bit of money over the course of four or five seasons, but Boston can afford it. The Red Sox also need to turn up their aggressiveness in free agency after watching the Blue Jays make big moves.
