Original story:

An Amber Alert was in the process of being issued on Saturday for two young boys in Arizona who went missing after their mother was killed, AZFamily.com reported.

The missing boys were listed as Victor and Jonathan Coronado, 5 and 8 years old. Police believed they may have been taken by their biological father, Dimas Coronado, AZFamily.com reported.

The boys' mother was killed in a double shooting in Phoenix on Saturday, Sgt. Armando Carbajal told the news outlet.

Police were on the lookout for a 2009 white Chevrolet Silverado with temporary Arizona license tags reading 43644T. Anyone with information was asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department.

The Amber Alert was not yet listed on the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's website at around 2 p.m. ET Saturday.

Amber Alerts are issued in order to spread information about missing children to aid in their search and safe return, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The program is named for a 9-year-old named Amber Hagerman, who was abducted and killed in Arlington, Texas.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
