What Are the Three myWW+ Plans From WW (Weight Watchers Reimagined)?

WW has three plans to match your lifestyle and could help give you the support you need to help you reach your weight loss goals.

Weight Watchers

It's important to consult your doctors with any medical concerns, and before making any changes or adding supplements to your health plan.

WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers, has introduced the new myWW+, a weight-loss program based on cutting-edge nutritional and behavioral science.

It's WW's most holistic approach to health, and the program could be likened to having your own personal trainer, nutritionist, lifestyle coach, meditation guru, and more. Losing weight is about more than just achieving a daily calorie deficit. Various factors could influence your ability to lose weight, and the myWW+ program gets to know how those factors could impact you personally.

It all starts with a personal assessment that evaluates different aspects of your lifestyle, from your diet and your sleep patterns to your mindset. Once you complete your assessment, you'll be scientifically matched with a personalized action plan that could help you take control of your health, starting with a food plan.

SmartPoints and ZeroPoint Foods: The Basis of the myWW+ Plans

Weight Watchers

Each of the myWW+ meal plans contains a unique balance of SmartPoints and ZeroPoint foods.

Think of SmartPoints as a more efficient way of counting calories, with every food being assigned a value. Calculating it starts with calories as the baseline. If the food or drink is high in saturated fats or sugar, the SmartPoints value goes up. If it's higher in lean protein, that number goes down. This helps you to gain a fuller picture of the nutritional content of the food or drink item. Calories can tell you how much energy you can derive from the food, but not all calories are created equal. Keeping track of SmartPoints is part of the myWW+ holistic initiative that could help you build healthier eating habits.

Your exact SmartPoints budget is calculated based on the Mifflin-St Jeor energy requirements equation, which studies indicate could be one of the most accurate for estimating resting metabolic rate (the energy your body needs when it's in a resting condition) in adults. It takes into account your age, sex, height, and weight to determine your daily and weekly SmartPoints budget, which is why your budget might vary from other WW participants. For example, an individual over six feet tall could have a different energy requirement than someone around five feet tall.

Meanwhile, ZeroPoint foods are ones you don't have to keep track of because they have a SmartPoints value of zero. Depending on your meal plan, they could consist of hundreds of different and delicious fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains. These foods form the foundation of healthy eating patterns and are less likely to be over-consumed, so you don't have to keep track of them. By combining these with your SmartPoints, you could create a wide variety of wholesome meals that aren't just healthy but also fulfilling and appetizing.

Every food has either a SmartPoints or ZeroPoint value that could be easy to search on the innovative WW app, where you could also track your daily and weekly SmartPoints. You might not have to completely swear off any particular dish because no food is wholly bad or good. It's all about helping you learn how to balance less healthy treats with more nutritious dietary staples.

What Are the myWW+ Plans?

Now that we know the basics of the plans, here are the different ones you could be paired up with. They have three plans to match your lifestyle and could help provide you with the support you need to help you reach your weight loss goals.

1. Green Plan

Weight Watchers

The Green plan includes a larger total SmartPoints® budget and over 100 different ZeroPoint foods. The ZeroPoint foods on this plan consist of fresh fruits and vegetables that you could mix and match with any of the SmartPoints foods you like. You could also opt to eat them as guilt-free snacks. Some starchy vegetables—like potatoes, peas, and corn—aren't included in your ZeroPoint™ foods and have SmartPoint values instead. For example, if you have a daily SmartPoints budget of 30, a full day of eating on the Green Plan could include:

  • Breakfast: Egg and Canadian bacon sandwich with avocado and tomato (seven SmartPoints)
  • Snack 1: 24 pistachios, 11 almonds, or six cashews, with an apple (two SmartPoints)
  • Lunch: Turkey burger with squash fries (six SmartPoints)
  • Snack 2: one ounce of pretzels (three SmartPoints)
  • Dinner: Spice-rubbed flank steak with fajita vegetables, plus three six-inch corn tortillas and a quarter of an avocado (12 SmartPoints)

2. Blue Plan

Weight Watchers

With the Blue plan, you get a more modest total SmartPoints budget and over 200 ZeroPoint foods. With more ZeroPoint foods comes even more options, including fruits, non-starchy vegetables, eggs, chicken breast, turkey breast, fish, shellfish, beans, legumes, tofu, tempeh, and non-fat plain yogurt. Some fruits and veggies have SmartPoints values and aren't included in your ZeroPoint foods, such as avocados, cassava/yuca/plantains, olives, parsnips, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and yams. For example, if you have a daily SmartPoints budget of 23, a full day of eating on the Blue Plan could include:

  • Breakfast: Plain non-fat Greek yogurt topped with fresh fruit and two tablespoons of slivered almonds (two SmartPoints)
  • Snack 1: one cup of chocolate-almond "nice cream" (seven SmartPoints)
  • Lunch: Greek-inspired veggie burger (eight SmartPoints)
  • Snack 2: Fresh vegetable sticks with four tablespoons of hummus (four SmartPoints)
  • Dinner: Roasted salmon with zucchini, chickpeas, and peppers (two SmartPoints)

3. Purple Plan

Weight Watchers

Last but far from least, the Purple plan gives you over 300 ZeroPoint foods and a smaller SmartPoints budget. With the most ZeroPoint foods to pick from, you could enjoy your choice of fruits, non-starchy vegetables, eggs, chicken breast, turkey breast, fish, shellfish, beans, legumes, tofu, tempeh, non-fat plain yogurt, whole-wheat pasta, grains, and potatoes without keeping track of SmartPoints values. This means you could wake up and have a wonderful breakfast of greek yogurt, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, steel-cut oats, and more, and not dip into your daily SmartPoints budget. For example, if you have a daily SmartPoints budget of 16, a full day of eating on the Purple Meal Plan could include:

  • Breakfast: Poblano and egg breakfast sandwich with fresh fruit (four SmartPoints)
  • Snack 1: Fresh veggies with three tablespoons of homemade guacamole (two SmartPoints)
  • Lunch: Ranch barbecue chicken salad (four SmartPoints)
  • Dinner: Swordfish and veggie skewers with creamy avocado sauce, served with brown rice or quinoa (three SmartPoints)
  • Dessert: two medium chocolate-covered strawberries (three SmartPoints)

Can You Switch Between the Different Meal Plans?

Yes, you can because with myWW+, you're in control of your journey. If you think another plan could help you make healthier choices, then go for it. However, WW recommends that you stick to your meal plan for two weeks before you make a change because it could take you a while to get used to a whole new way of eating. But if you realize another plan could be better suited for your lifestyle after two weeks, you could make the change at any time in your WW app on your phone.
