Jeopardy! champ Amy Schneider has revealed that she fell ill shortly after being robbed at gunpoint in Oakland, California.
The engineering manager, who has been based in the city for several years since relocating from her native Ohio, took a brief break from her Twitter account after sharing with her followers that she had recently been robbed of her personal belongings.
On Wednesday night, Schneider returned to the micro-blogging platform to reveal that she wouldn't be posting a customary analysis of her latest Jeopardy! round—which she had also skipped the day before—as she recovered.
"Quick update: So, to make this week even more fun, I also got sick!" Schneider wrote. "I'm feeling mostly better now, but I'm going to extend my posting break through tomorrow."
She added in a follow-up tweet: "For now, just know that a) I'm fine b) I fully intend to post full game threads for every episode, and c) I'm so so grateful for all the support I've received! See you soon!"
On Monday, Schneider revealed that she was working to replace a number of personal items—including her phone and credit cards—after she was robbed the day before.
"Hi all! So, first off: I'm fine," she assured her followers. "But I got robbed yesterday, lost my ID, credit cards, and phone. I then couldn't really sleep last night, and have been dragging myself around all day trying to replace everything."
She continued: "So, I doubt I'll even start writing tonight's game thread today, and if I keep winning, it may take a bit for me to get caught up. Thanks for your patience!"
While not identifying the victim, a representative of the Oakland Police Department confirmed to Newsweek that they were investigating an armed robbery that occurred just after 3:30 p.m. PST.
"Two unknown individuals, one with a firearm, approached the victim and demanded the victim's property. The victim complied, and the individuals ran off with the victim's personal belongings," read a statement.
The police also stated that no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
