Manchester United manager José Mourinho wants to sign Serie A leading scorer Andrea Belotti, according to reports.

Mourinho is searching for a striker to share the goalscoring burden next season with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and according to the Manchester Evening News he is tracking the Italy international.

Belotti, 23, has exploded into mainstream consciousness this season with 22 goals in Serie A for Torino to head the scoring charts ahead of celebrated names including Juventus's Gonzalo Higuain.

Mourinho needs a younger partner for Ibrahimovic, who has impressed in his first season at United at the age of 35.

A deal for purported long-term target Antoine Griezmann is proving complicated to seal so the Portuguese boss has been forced to look elsewhere. United has scored just 39 goals in 26 English Premier League games so far this season, while all five of its rivals for the Champions League places have broken 50.
