Apex Legends players can drop in and try out the Havoc Energy Rifle right now. Following its reveal during the Twitch Rivals Challenge Tuesday afternoon, here's a recap of everything we know about the new gun. The details arrive via a Respawn blog post.

The Havoc Rifle is an energy weapon with Full-auto and Hitscan Beam fire modes. As such, it supports the Turbocharger Hop-Up, which reduces the spin-up time on the auto mod. Its second Hop-Up, Selective Receiver, is required to enable the beam fire mode.
As you can see from these damage stats, the chosen mode of fire has a huge impact on the Havoc Rifle's power.

- Damage: 75
- Rate of Fire: 80

Overall, the Havoc Rifle appears to be mostly in line with other weapons in its gun class. The beam-based fire mode is certainly powerful when it's available, but the fact that a certain Hop-Up is required to activate it potentially mitigates it from dominating the meta. Beyond the rare exception of guns like the Mozambique, the weapon roster of Apex Legends is fairly balanced. While new and exciting, the Havoc Rifle definitely seems to carry on that established tradition. At the very least, there's little evidence to suggest the latest weapon addition is a wasted one.
The Havoc Energy Rifle is the first major weapon addition to Apex Legends since the free battle royale game launched earlier this month. Evidence of the gun first appeared in the title's 1.04 update, which went live Tuesday morning.
