Baby Archie's First Year in Pictures: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Son Celebrates First Birthday

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will today mark baby Archie's first birthday from lockdown in Los Angeles with a new picture.

As fans wait for the first official image released by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex this year, here's a look back at some of the heartwarming snaps we have already seen.

The birth

Archie had his first outing in front of the cameras when he was just two days old during a photoshoot at St George's Hall, in Windsor Castle.

Prince Harry held the 7-pound-3-ounce baby boy, wrapped in a blanket and hat, while new mother Meghan stood beside them.

Mother's Day

It was only days before they shared their next photo, this time just showing the newborn's tiny feet.

The Instagram post was to mark Meghan's first Mother's Day and was accompanied by a poem by Nayyirah Waheed.

It reads: "My mother was my first country; the first place I ever lived."

Father's Day

A month later, Harry and Meghan shared a picture of Archie's hand squeezing Prince Harry's finger as the proud father cradled his son.

The post read: "Happy Father's Day! And wishing a very special first Father's Day to The Duke of Sussex!"

Archie's Christening

Archie was christened in the private chapel at Windsor Castle by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby on July 6.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended alongside grandparents on both sides, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Meghan's mother Doria Ragland.

A statement at the time read: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son.

"They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.

"Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie."

At the polo

When Prince Harry and Prince William played polo together a few days later, Meghan brought Archie along for the game.

Kate Middleton also had Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Billingbear Polo Club in Wokingham, west of London, where the two brothers competed for the Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Polo Trophy.

Meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Archie met the archbishop during his first royal tour when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to South Africa.

They introduced their baby to Desmond Tutu at his foundation in Cape Town, South Africa.

Thandeka Tutu Gxashe, the archbishop's daughter, told the couple Archie looked like a "ladies man" and that his parents had been photographed so often he must have "cameras" in his "genes."

Prince Charles' birthday

Meghan and Harry released another new photograph in November to mark Prince Charles' 71st birthday.

The image showed the duke with his son in his arms and his father by his side.

It was accompanied by the caption: "Happy birthday to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales - Sir, Pa, Grandpa!"

New Year

The couple released another photo to mark the New Year. In this one, Prince Harry is pictured cradling Archie in front of a breathtaking view of a lake and mountains.

It was released as they took time away from Britain, relaxing in Canada, but before they announced their exit from the royal family.

The duke and duchess wrote on the post: "Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and thanking you for your continued support

"We've loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can't wait to meet many more of you next year.

"We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness."
