November 11 marks Veterans Day in the U.S, a time to honor those who serve or have served with the military during times of war and peace.

Observed as a national holiday, many restaurants across the country may close to honor their veterans, while others might remain open to provide them with special deals. Newsweek has scoured the country to find out whether your favorite restaurants will be open during the public holiday.

Are Restaurants Open on Veterans Day?

Applebee's: This restaurant will be open to give veterans a free meal. Available on November 11, 2019 (participating locations). Beverages and gratuity not included. U.S. veterans and active-duty military need to show proof of military service.

Arby's: The sandwich place will be open this Veterans Day.

Burger King: As many locations are run by separate franchisees, opening hours vary. Check nearest locations for opening hours.

Chick-fil-A: Opening times will vary by franchise, which can be confirmed using the locations function.

Chili's Grill & Bar: This restaurant is open for Veterans Day. All veterans and active-duty military personnel can choose a complimentary meal from a select menu.

Chipotle: It is expected that the chain will open like last year and offer its "buy one, get one free" deal for veterans.

Dairy Queen: While some locations will be open, check with the local franchisee on opening hours for Veterans Day.

Denny's: The chain will be open for Veterans Day. Veterans and active military can create their own Grand Slam between 5:00 a.m. and noon on November 11.

Domino's Pizza: Customers can confirm using the store locator on the website whether their local branch is remaining open for Veterans Day.

Dunkin' Donuts: Restaurants will be open on November 11 as veterans and active-duty military can enjoy a free donut at Dunkin' Donuts restaurants nationwide.

Jack in the Box: Check with the local franchisee to see if your branch will be open on Veterans Day.

KFC: The majority of branches should remain open, however check ahead with local franchises to confirm opening times.

McDonald's: Each location is run by a franchisee so will have different opening times.

Olive Garden: Participating locations will be open on Veterans Day to give out free bloomin onion and drink, as in previous years.

Panera Bread: Check with the local franchisee for opening times on Veterans Day.

Pizza Hut: Franchises have different operating hours, so check ahead.

Red Lobster: The restaurant will remain open on Veterans Day. To thank veterans, active-duty military and reservists, it will offer a free appetizer or dessert from their Veterans Day menu. Valid military I.D. required.

Sonic Drive-in: The drive-thru chain will remain open during Veterans Day.

Starbucks: The coffee chain will be open on November 11, and will offer a free Tall Brewed Coffee to veterans and military.

Subway: Opening times vary by location so check ahead before setting off on Veterans Day.

Taco Bell: Check local branches for opening times.

Wendy's: As with many other franchises, each location operates their own business hours. Check with local branches for more information.
