'ARK' 1.70 Update Releases on PS4 to Fix Bugs & Small Tribe - Patch Notes

ARK: Survival Evolved was updated on PS4 Thursday afternoon to version 1.70. According to its official patch notes, the small download fixes bugs with the ARKaeology Event and tweaks rules on Small Tribe servers.

'ARK' VERSION 1.70 PATCH NOTES

  • Fix for Prim+ Advanced Workbench
  • Fix for ARKaeology bones disappearing after restart
  • Fix for missing ARKaeology Bone Wyvern Costume
  • Fix for broken locales

Small Tribe Server rule changes

  • Twenty-four hour cooldown on tribe slot reuse
  • Disabled dino unclaiming
  • Disabled non-tribe pin code access to structures

There's not much in ARK update 1.70 beyond stability tweaks, but the new details referenced here are still important for those playing ARK's new Small Tribe mode. Small Tribe was introduced earlier this month as an accelerated game type where six-person groups could experience the wilderness with expedited resource-gathering and harvesting rates. The listed rule changes are designed to cut back on exploits some tribes had been abusing. Dinos stay with their designated owners and pins have been locked down to prevent unnecessary griefing.

This is the second update for the PS4 version of ARK: Survival Evolved in less than a week. Last Friday, Wildcard deployed version 1.69 to introduce the ARKaeology Event across all platforms. Extinction Chronicles Explorer notes were also added in advance of the Extinction expansion pack's release in November. After installing version 1.70, your game should feel a little more stable.

ARK: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux. This particular hotfix is exclusive to PS4.
