The PC version of ARK: Survival Evolved was last updated at the end of December, so this is the first major patch for 2019. While not that exciting in terms of new content to explore, it goes a long way toward making the existing content base much more enjoyable to play. In particular, the long list of mesh memory optimizations will be greatly appreciated by those running ARK on mid or low-tier hardware. Less resources spent on processing power means more space for intricate gameplay.

With regard to Dino balance, there's nothing here that should drastically change the meta. With tweaks made to the Scout, Mek, Velonasaur, Titans and more, the creatures you know will simply be less buggy than before. That means fewer needless deaths and instances of getting stuck on objects. These changes aren't quite ready for their home console debut, but we expect to see versions of them ported to other platforms over the next few weeks. Server-side updates on all platforms recently made it possible to transfer creatures from other maps over to Extinction.

ARK: Survival Evolved is available on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Update v289.100 only concerns PC.
