Murderer Serving Life Without Parole Escapes From an Arkansas Prison for Second Time

A convicted murderer is on the run after escaping from a prison in Arkansas for the second time whilst serving life without parole.

Calvin Adams, 49, escaped from the East Arkansas Regional Unit in Brickeys on the morning of September 30. The Arkansas Department of Corrections confirmed he was missing following a unit-wide count at the facility.

He is described as a white male, 5 feet and 7 inches in height, weighing 180 pounds, with brown eyes and brown, greying hair.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement immediately.

Adams was serving a life without parole sentence after he was convicted of kidnapping a husband and wife and then killing the husband in Greene County in April, 1994, reported Michigan Live.

He had previously escaped from an Arkansas prison in June 2009 along with another convicted murderer, Jeffrey Grinder.

The pair managed to escape from the Cummins Unit in Lincoln County after walking out whilst wearing prison guard uniforms.

Arkansas Department of Correction spokeswoman Dina Tyler said at the time the pair were able to "walk out of the main building and out the entry building without being challenged" during a change of shifts between guards.

As reported by the Associated Press, the two convicted murderers were later found in the same car together, which had been left outside the prison for them to facilitate their escape.

The pair were eventually captured around 1,000 miles away in the state of New York after a state trooper tried to pull over the men for speeding in the city of Hornell. Adams and Grinder crashed their car into a tree while trying to escape.

The pair then attempted to flee on foot before they were apprehended. Both men had previously been spotted in Missouri and Michigan before finally being caught in New York.

Elsewhere, authorities are still searching for one inmate who escaped from a prison in Ohio after three others were captured in North Carolina.

The Gallia County Sheriff's office confirmed that three of the four escapees from the Gallia County Jail—Brynn K. Martin, Christopher M. Clemente and Troy R. McDaniel Jr.—were found at 2 a.m. on Monday, September 30, following their escape the day before.

Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin said police are still on the hunt for Lawrence R. Lee, believing he managed to flee before the officers arrived at the scene.

"Investigators have worked continuously throughout the day and night since the incident occurred to follow up on tips and develop information which has led to the captures.

"I would like to say a special thanks to all of the agencies who have been instrumental in assisting us in this investigation," Champlin added.
