Newcastle United vs. Arsenal: Where to Watch EPL, Live Stream, Team News and Odds

Arsenal surprised everyone in the transfer window this summer and, for once, it did so for positive reasons.

So often either reluctant or unwilling to match its rivals' spending, the Gunners were expected to face a summer as the outsiders looking in with Unai Emery reportedly having to make do with a relatively modest budget.

Instead, Arsenal took center stage and broke its transfer record to sign Nicolas Pépé from Lille for $87 million, while another combined $79 million was spent on signing Kieran Tierney from Celtic, David Luiz from Chelsea, William Saliba from Saint Etienne and Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli.

Additionally, Spain U21 star Dani Ceballos has arrived on loan from Real Madrid.

Even without Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi, who have left for Juventus and Everton respectively, Emery has a squad good enough to finish in the top four and take Arsenal back into the Champions League after a two-season hiatus.

The Gunners open their Premier League campaign against Newcastle on Sunday.

Often criticized for his parsimony, Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was forced to reach for his checkbook this summer amid significant unrest among the fans.

Supporters were furious after coach Rafa Benitez left the club and Ashley's decision to hire Steve Bruce as a replacement did little to placate their ire. Spending just over $72 million on players might have a better impact, although much will depend on whether new club record signing and Joelinton and fellow new arrival Allan Saint-Maximin can hit the ground running.

Andy Carroll's return to Newcastle as a free agent should also help Bruce's cause.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of Sunday.
