Ashes Away

ALMOST A YEAR AFTER HIS death, LSD guru Timothy Leary is high again. Last week about one quarter ounce of Leary's ashes, along with those of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry and 22 others, was lofted into space, to orbit Earth for perhaps a decade before burning up on re-entry. The "cremains," in lipstick-size capsules, are on a rocket launched from a Lockheed L-1011 airplane over Grand Canary Island. (Celestis Inc. of Houston charged $4,800 a capsule.) The spacecraft also deployed Spain's first scientific satellite.
